The service was fabulous. Shannon was our waitress & she was on top of everything. We really enjoyed the pretzel bites & Irish Nachos were great. Nice drink selection as well.

I hate to be negative about this place, as I had high hopes for it’s success. However, after receiving excellent service from everyone we encountered, the food was a crushing disappointment. The menu was too trendy and limited for me and my older siblings. After being told that the item I had wanted after searching their FB page menu was not on their«current» menu and not available, I ordered a New York strip that was full of gristle and buried in dehydrated potatoes. My brother in law ordered a pizza that was so burnt that he literally broke off the bottom of the crust(their was an air pocket), and had to set it aside. Would it be so bad to have one or two«average» items on your menu for the less adventuresome among you? A talented chef can make a steak or shrimp dish to a high standard without the excessive presentation. Please consider carrying a few standard entrees along with your more creative dishes.

The food was very good and the service was exceptional. The salmon and asparagus entrée was delicious. The breadsticks and little garlic bites were tasty. The restaurant has a good selection of craft brews for all sorts of beer lovers. Menu offers a nice variety and the Friday baked cod was excellent. We also enjoyed their seafood chowder. Outdoor summer patio is a nice place to relax and enjoy a drink.

To say that our experience at Ebenezer Brown’s was disappointing is an understatement. In fact, it was so bad we will never go back. We drove through a blinding snowstorm to meet friends for a cozy dinner. The venue is welcoming, but the pleasure ends there. All four diners in our party found their meal almost inedible. The chicken was undercooked. The risotto was crunchy. The shrimp was tasteless and he signature«soup» was more like a bowl of under seasoned Marmara sauce. Having Harlan Jefferson playing live music during dinner would have been a plus had they not situated him right in the dining room, which meant the music was so loud no one could converse through dinner– the only reason we would go out on such a blustery night. To make matters worse, our dinner for two plus one cocktail and 2 glasses of mediocre wine came to $ 80. We don’t mind spending money in a good meal, but this one was a total rip off. Save your money for a better experience somewhere else!

My husband friends and I decided to dine here on a Saturday night. The décor and atmosphere was nice. We all ordered different meals. We thought the food was okay, but way over priced for the portion of food we received. My husband ordered the pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus for $ 26.00. It came with 3 bland pork chops that were so small, 4 asparagus, and maybe 3 tablespoon of mashed potatoes. I ordered the mac and cheese for $ 16.00, plus bacon for $ 4.00. The portion was about 5oz. For the amount of money we paid not including drinks, taste of food, and portion we decided we would not turn. We were very disappointed.

4 of us went for dinner and all of us enjoyed it. Two had hamburgers, one with homemade fries and the other with sweet potato fries. The hamburgers were huge and both kind of fries were fantastic. We had crab cakes for an appetizer. I don’t like crab but I had a bite to taste it and I thought it was OK. The other three thought they were good. My daughter had the prime rib special with rice as a side and salad with homemade balsamic dressing. The prime rib was the largest we had ever seen, cooked to perfection and the taste was fantastic. The sides were the best. I had Cajun shrimp tacos with rice and black beans. Loved all of my meal but next time I will have to order my tacos minus the Sriracha sauce. Can’t wait to go again.

Ebenezer Brown a new restaurant in Roscoe, IL opens its doors at 5 p.m. Having an early reservation of 5:30 p.m., my date and I were able to find a close parking spot. At that time, the dining room was half-filled with patrons but we were quickly seated. When we left at 6:30 p.m., the room appeared to be filled to capacity. The reservation desk area was congested with persons waiting to be seated, while other waited at the bar. The décor of Ebenezer Brown is pleasant with a modern touch that reflects a degree of upscale ambiance. The dining area had tables and booths. However the booth could be an uncomfortable tight fit for some guests. The silver service was wrapped in a sandy colored cloth napkin and placed on a table cloth of the same color. Our dinner choice was the Friday Fish Fry special. Each serving plate consisted of three pieces of moderate size tasty encrusted cod, and two potato pancakes. Applesauce and Tartar sauce were on the side. Also included with the meal was a modest salad with a dressing of your choice, and a basket of four rolls. Several different soups were available at an extra cost. I very much enjoyed the seafood soup. Our drink of choice was green tea. If you want sugar for the tea be sure to ask for it when you order your meal. This cuts the need to flag a waitress for this simple condiment. The price of this dinner for two was $ 44 which included tax and tip. There were adequate portions of leftover food to take home for a second meal. The hostess, wait staff, and the restaurant manager were cordial, helpful, and pleasant. The service was quick and efficient. I will revisit this restaurant with family and friends.

Stopped by for a dinner last night. Everything from our drinks to our dinner were 1st class. What a great addition to the Roscoe/Rockton area. Looking forward to going back.

My husband and I tried this restaurant shortly after it opened and I am not sure I would go back. We were waiting to be seated and the girl at the hostess desk evidently could not seat us so we were told to step aside and wait for the real hostess to seat us. They were not busy but we had to wait anyway for this other person which I thought was a bit odd. When we did get seated it was not too far from the open kitchen– I didn’t think I would mind that but all I heard all through dinner was the chef calling out orders — they may want to put glass up or something as the sound really carried. I had the whitefish– it was pretty good but the salads and vegetable sides were quite generic. The garlic mashed potatoes were probably the tastiest of the meal. My husband had a medium cooked steak which was good, but again the sides were not up to the rest of the meal. I had a whiskey old fashioned cocktail which was very small for the price and tasted watered down and did not taste like much liquor was added– so disappointed there as that is a treat for me. My husband had a captain and diet and liked it. Our waitress was very good and was pleased with that. The owner was there and seemed to be greeting tables of people she knew but ignoring other tables. Also a company came in to put a large piece of glass in the booth next to us, I was concerned I would get hit. Very odd to do that during dinner hour in my opinion. We may try one more time but not sure

Loved the Tomahawk steak. Great looking new bar. I think Roscoe needed another good spot to eat and now they do.

My husband and I wanted to try the restaurant, but probably will never go back. First we got there and ordered a drink. Vodka and cranberry… it was so weak and so expensive for just juice. Then we were sitted and the waitress was nice but forgot to tell my husband how much his fish dinner was witch wasn’t done and didn’t taste very good it was the special for $ 28. We have some places that I think for the price we will stick to. Just disappointed! Would like to support local businesses but they have to improve!

Went on a Friday night. Had a drink at the bar first. Bar is nice. Basically the same as when it was DiGiovanni’s. Seated quickly in the dining room. We were given a booth but requested to move when our waitress came. Booth seating extremely cramped for just two people, can not imagine trying to squeeze in four. Table much better. Atmosphere nice, a little cold. We both got the Friday night fish, it was done with a potato chip crust. We did not care for it. Very heavy crust. Did not offer a baked fish. Prices were on the steep side for what the place is. Trying to be upper end but not there in my opinion. I would try it again and give it another chance but probably not for awhile, if they make it that long.

Pretty good! We started with the escargot. I had the short rib tacos and my daughter had the Mac and Cheese. We both liked it our food. Service was prompt and courteous. When we were there it was very quiet — we felt like we shouldn’t speak too loudly. It could just be that there weren’t too may people yet. We will definitely be back.

The lady taking the reservation was cordial and equally friendly when we arrived. We were seated immediately when we arrived and the waitress approached our booth right away. The service was almost perfect throughout the meal. The atmosphere is quite nice. The lighting is low and the table service is nice. I would recommend seating at a table rather than a booth as it is somewhat of a squeeze in the booth. COCKTAILS I ordered a Rye Manhattan straight up but was sorely disappointed. The 6 oz drink was fizzy and served in a small tumbler rather than a coupe or martini cocktail glass. A Manhattan is a primary drink any bartender should be able to make. The house salads and rolls were OK. ENTRE My wife and I both ordered the filet steak, hers medium and mine medium-rare. Both were done perfectly and had a very good flavor although the texture wasn’t quite as dense as expected. They were served with vegetables and choice of potato. The vegetable was an overcooked mixture of green beans, peas, shredded carrots and green zucchini. My wife ordered garlic mashed potatoes and they were tasty but not hot. The Good: The reception and service were excellent. We had a choice of dressings and sauces on the side. The Bad: The cocktails were not good. We noted that the male plating our steaks used his bare hand rather than gloved or with tongs. The quality of the food is just not up to par with what you’d expect for the price charged. I’ll stick to the supper clubs across the border in Beloit.
