Hopefully this review will improve the parts of our dining experience that need improvement which will make our next visit perfect. I booked a special dinner for my fiancé whose birthday is on Valentine’s Day. We drove to Bend for an overnight visit and really wanted to check out the Blacksmith. I made an online reservation and requested their best table for the birthday celebration. We actually arrived ½ hr. early(Sat night 2⁄13) and they said our table was ready for us. We sat down at a nice spacious booth table and a lovely single stemmed rose was on the table laying across the napkin. What a SWEET touch! No other tables had such a nice gesture. The waitress came right away and wished me a happy birthday. I had to say it was my fiancé’s birthday and she corrected herself… she was so sweet. She asked us for our drink order and came back almost immediately. The menu looked so good that it was a bit of a challenge to pick out dishes. We started w/an appetizer of crab corn dogs, then we both liked the Surf and Turf dish but I cannot eat an appetizer and main course and have room for dessert so we split the Surf and Turf dinner. My partner ordered a side of mashed potatoes. The crab corn dog was pretty disappointing. I don’t even think the little bit of crab inside the ball of corn dough was Dungeness crab. It was tiny flaked crab meat kind of like blue crab meat. It was barely detectable in the dough. Need major improvement on that creative appetizer and it will be a knockout(for 15.00 it should be). The Surf and Turf dinner. Well, for 42.00 it should have incl. a side vegetable. The plate was split between the two of us, but the plate was so empty looking even if it were all on one it would have been a bit sparse(4 bay scallops, 4 shrimp– average size, crab meat looked like crawfish meat– small amt. and about two pieces per plate and a nice tenderloin steak). The steak was rare as requested and it was tasty. The shrimp were overcooked– only need a couple minutes per side on shrimp and the scallops were pretty tasteless. Bay scallops are far inferior to sea scallops. I’m glad my fiancé had ordered the side of mashed potatoes or he would have been starving. For dessert I ordered Crème Brulee and it was FABULOUS and I was pleasantly surprised at the size dish it came in– largest I’ve ever had. My partner ordered a scoop of Mexican chocolate ice cream. AMAZING! that was so good too. Very happy with the service, very happy with the dessert, need improvement on the turf part of the Surf and Turf dinner and by way of drinks from the bar– I would like the see the cocktail drinks be a bit more flavorful w/alcohol– lots of ice and flavorings but not much of the booze. We will give this place another chance. We had a really nice time and appreciated the special treatment!

Wife and I had an amazing dinner here the other night. Very romantic, and everything we had was cooked perfectly.

This place has good food and entertainment, but don’t pay by credit card. They have someone that steals credit card numbers. In a 2 ½ year period we had our credit card stolen 6 times. We finally decided to figure out what restaurant in town was doing this to us. So we decided to take our credit cards that we don’t use and use them only once at the different restaurants we go to and then put it in the drawer. With in two weeks the card we used at Blacksmith was stolen and someone began to use it in another state. We went to the police, they told us to approach the owner. So we went with all our past credit card statements, and the current one that was only used at their restaurant. The owners wife said she would look into it, we gave her our information and she never called me back! She acted like she was concerned, but clearly did not care at all. Food is good, so if you go, you better bring cash. I will never be back.

Black smith never disappoints! Ashley is the best bartender! Always a smile and so friendly. The food is great and a wonderful atmosphere. Tuesday nights rock with the burger and beer for $ 11 and great music!

First class service and great meal provided to my parents on their 55th wedding anniversary! After looking up restaurants on Unilocal,I took a chance and book a reservation online for my parents to celebrate their 55th anniversary. I live in San Diego and could not join them, so I hoped the restaurant could help me out — and boy did they! I called up as soon as they opened and they had already read my online reservation request. I was hoping to pay for the night and they were absolutely the best to work with — very easy! My parents were treated to long stem roses, great seating, and as they said«the best steak and seafood ever! They can’t wait to go back! Thank you Blacksmith — my parents said their server was top notch, providing the most excellent service(my parents are retired restaurant owners so they know)! The next time I’m in Bend, we will all be dining at The Blacksmith Steakhouse!

Amazing — we were in the lounge and had an amazing meal! We had garlic Parmesan truffle fries, crab corn dog pops, Caesar salad, and truffle Mac and cheese — two drinks and not house wine, $ 46! Our dining partners also had the shrimp ceviche and sliders! Everything excellent– what we would change — crab corn dogs– not enough crab and too much dough. Ceviche– onions too big. The Caesar was best we ever had. Mac and cheese yummy! Go for happy hour! All day Sunday!

I was in Bend for work and was looking for a nice steak dinner that I could eat at the bar. Sitting at a «table for one» in a nice restaurant always make feel uncomfortable. This place is very nice, with higher-end appearance and modern finishes. I was quickly greeted and offered a spot at the bar and provided a menu. I ordered the Steak and Fries with a pint of Boneyard RPM. When the steak arrived I ordered a glass of the 6th Sense Syrah(Lodi, CA) and it was a very nice wine for under $ 10. My entire bill was $ 55 including the tip. The steak was cooked exactly as I ordered and had great flavor. A very nice meal and ambiance.

By far the BEST dinner restaurant in Bend. Just had the pork chop and my husband had the steak and fries. Both were perfectly cooked and seasoned, very tender too. The service was wonderful, our server, Brooke couldn’t have been better. If your in Bend be sure to stop over at the Blacksmith.

Food is good, not amazing. Service was great though. I had the rib eye and asked for it to be medium rare, it was definitely medium to medium well. I probably wouldn’t go back. There are much better places to eat in Bend and it’s not cheap to eat here

Someone heard my birthday wishes and made reservations here. Aside from a great atmosphere alongside live music, the place has little nooks which allows you to rejoice. Now to the food — we had steaks and fries, tender steak, ahi poki, Mac & cheese and roasted yams soup. Everything was delicious. The service was impeccable and knowledgeable.

My boyfriend and I decided on Blacksmith for his birthday dinner while in Bend for a getaway based on a recommendation and the menu on their website. I have to say, we couldn’t have been more pleased with the experience! The service was exceptional, the drinks were some of the best we’ve had and the food was to die for. The boyfriend is an avid steak eater, routinely cooking his own steaks at home and trying them elsewhere whenever we go out, and he says this was the best steak he has ever eaten. I had the salmon which was also phenomenal, and for dessert… the table side fostered banana split. My oh my. Cooked at the table on a gas burner with flames and everything, it featured poached bananas, vanilla ice cream, house made whipped cream and an orange rum caramel sauce all covering house made warm banana bread. Holy cow! What an experience. Can’t wait to go back!

We have been to the Blacksmith several times. We’ve always enjoyed it and loved the food so we recommended it to friends for their birthday dinner. We were able to join them, and listened to them rave about the blacksmith and how they wonderful they thought it was as well. We enjoyed drinks, great food and our evening, until it was time to leave. Once our server brought our check, we experienced the worst customer service from him since we asked to split our check. There was a very noticeable change in his attitude towards our group. We were a group of 4 couples, there for a birthday dinner mind you, nothing too crazy. We marked items 1 – 4 on the receipt and told him to put the items on the corresponding cards with how we had them. Every thing marked with a 1 goes on the first card, etc. We wrote which card belonged to which number on the receipt incase he dropped it and mixed it up. Basically fool proof. Our server returned several minutes later and says, «I can’t do that, YOU need to figure out how much to put on each card and I can do it that way.» Ok, now excuse me, you are making us do math with a pen, two strips of receipt paper, and our cell phone calculator, rather then utilizing the resources you have, we are now doing your job for you. This could have all been avoided by asking from the beginning, are we doing one check or separate checks, like every other restaurant does when you come in with a group. **Your server could also state that the restaurant has a policy regarding groups and have them explain that, so people can plan accordingly.** We were never informed of this until later. We figure the correct totals out and send him back with the cards. He comes walking back and says, «you guys are short, you didn’t factor in the gratuity.» Really? We have no problem leaving a tip, and we NOW understand that your establishment has policy and procedures that you need to follow, regarding gratuity and splitting checks, and had we been made aware of this, we could have completely avoided a lot of this from the beginning. Blacksmith, I’m disappointed in this server and the way we were treated. It’s not a reflection of your restaurant in a whole, but it effected the 3 other couples first impression that we brought with us to experience your establishment. The flavor of your food left a good taste in our mouth, but the customer service was a quick way to wash it out and ruined the overall experience of the night. I’m sure eventually we will be back, but it’s gonna take a while after this unnecessary blow.

Simple, romantic, rustic elegance that surprised us. The waitress attended to our every need and was the right choice for our anniversary dinner. We mentioned that it was our anniversary when we made the reservations and there was a rose for both of us on our menus when we arrived. The family owned restaurant knew how to make us feel welcome and special. A great place to go for a special evening.

Score! This was my first time dinning in Bend and I went to the right place! After looking at the Unilocal reviews I passed on a place down the street that was name the same as my favorite pale in Elk Grove. Boy am I glad I did. The Blacksmith Steakhouse does have some history here. It was just that, and old blacksmith shop opened in the late 1800 all the way to the 70’s. When you walk in it has the look of an upper scale restaurant with a very casual fee where everyone is welcome. The décor in the restaurant is warm and inviting and has the historical brick walls and cemented rock from the original Blacksmith shop. We came in without a reservation. The hostess said we could dine in the lounge and it was perfect for is. We walked by an impressively stock bar that had probably had everything you would ever want to drink. It was a wall or spirits that was sure to satisfy everyone. Heaven! We were greeted quickly by some of the staff with menus and water. I was surprised by the welcome we received so far. Then a wonderful waitress named Shelby kindly greeted us and again with a warm welcome. She took our cocktail order and Score, they have Private Stock!(I told you they had it all) That is my drink of choice that many places dont carry. My wife have the Peach Lemon Drop. She said it was perfect and very tasty. We also orders the Dungeness crab corn dogs for an appetizer and a Caesar salad and a Wedge salad with Tomato caviar. The cocktails came quick along with an Amuse-bouch! A house made Hummus on a house made crisp. Very nice touch and another great way to say«Thank you for coming in»! Then out comes the Dungeness crab corn dogs. They were so sweet and flavorful with great crab taste and texture. The tartar sauce was a perfect dip. After our apps were done and I order the second cocktail our salads came to the table. No rush at all and perfect timing. My wife said that it was the best Caesar salad ever! It had Polenta croutons that were crisp on the outside and smooth on the inside. My Wedge salad was very unique. It was stuffed with blue cheese and topped with… yes… Tomato Caviar! Succulent little pearls of tomato. Both were very good salads fresh and crisp! Now comes the highlight on the evening. A 28 ounce Tomahawk Rib Eye. This was beautiful to look at and picture perfect. It was the perfect med rare and so juicy and flavorful. The chef here has done a nice job trimming this steak and the bone was«Frenched» perfectly.(Butcher talk there!) Whoever was on the broiler did a great job cooking the beauty! It was sitting on a sweet bacon demi. One of the best demi every. This unique demi complimented the steak perfectly. There was plenty to drag each piece of steak thought this tasty sauce! The staff are dressed professional in black and present themselves as well. The Blacksmith has their stuff together and they are engaged in the business and you can tell by the way the treat their guest and staff. The timing of delivery was on point. The food and drink was as well! The restaurant business is a tough business to be in. The cost of food in America makes it tough to hit price points for everyone. I love a restaurant that is not afraid to charge for their food. It shows confidence in their product and it shows in the service and quality you get at the Blacksmith. If you want a great meal and a wonderful experience then the Blacksmith is for you! Ambiance 5 stars Bar 5 stars Staff 5 stars Food 5 stars And yes, the restrooms 5 stars! Thank you Blacksmith for a wonderful evening. If I lived here I would be a regular!

This is my second time here and I had the Pork Chop. It was cooked PERFECT and the flavors were spot on! Service was very friendly And I give them an EXCELLENT! They have ½ price on bottles of wine on Wednesday and do not miss their Happy Hour. They are one block off of NW Bond… But they are not hit hard with the Bond/Wall Street tourist! Worth your hard earned«After Tax Dollars» Enjoy! West-Morry

Great meal and great service. Tub eye was perfectly done(med rare) and the halibut over saffron was moist and full of flavor. Highly recommend the tuna tartare appetizer. The Hendricks martini — dirty of course — was perfectly chilled.

Our friend recommended that we check out Blacksmith for drinks and food because they have happy hour all day Sunday. I appreciated the more casual bar setting. My honey got a manhattan flight(cool idea) and I got a martini. To eat, we split the caesar salad, poki bites, and smoked cheddar mac and cheese. Everything was quite good. I especially liked the polenta«croutons» on the salad. An interesting surprise. Total was a reasonable $ 40.

The BEST place I have ever eaten! We had our 5th anniversary dinner here — they had roses waiting for us at the table :) Let me tell you first that I am very picky and was nervous to order the Tuna Poke and it ended up being the most delicious thing that I have eaten in my life! No joke! The polenta croutons were to die for — the shrimp and grits was my husband’s fave! The timing between courses is perfect and they even bring out little fancy bites for you to try :) Can’t wait to go back! Only downside is that it’s a 3 hour drive from my house lol
