The Patient Angler

After visiting several stores in Bend, we found this shop had the best customer service. The staff was so warm and welcoming, giving freely of their time as to all area information on where to fish. The owner, Peter, shared great and successful recommendations regarding some of his favorite waters. Calib (sp) made sure we had the right hand drawn maps with detailed markers so we’d arrived in a timely manner and Bob insured our fishing days were complete with a few ‘special’ flies that really did produce on both the Crooked and Fall rivers, as well as pointing us in the right direction for lake fishing. But most importantly was the warm and sharing ambiance when we walked in the door for the first time. As for the small space… well it has everything a fly angler needs, from beginner to advanced. Want to discuss technical aspects of sinking lines, tippet types, fly variations… This is the place!!! I was endeared the moment I walked in and saw table with vises, feathers and threads surrounded by chairs and occupied with visitors. Any shop that welcomes you as well as locals to come and sit, chat up their friends and spend a few hours in a ‘shop’ (rather than a quick in/​out retailer), is aces in my book.
As two women who have fished all over this country I have to say this place rates on the top of the list as treating everyone as welcomed. We were sorry to leave Bend and one of the reasons… we won’t be seeing our three fly fishing friends for at least a year. Thanks again for making our trip successful: Ariel and Karen

Went to this store to buy a birthday present for a family member. Peter and his sales staff were very helpful. They know their products and will take time to educate those wanting to know more about fly fishing. The store was clean, well laid out and had virtually everything needed for fly fishing.
