This place is now called the Franken Stein. LoL… I miss the old bar, but it’s still the same… only with old monster posters up on the walls.

Sorry folks, O’Leary’s Pub seems to be closed now. They have opened a new restaurant in town called Lucca’s, also on First St.

O’Learys is the Old Faithful of First Street. You can always count on having a great time without emptying your wallet there. It seems that whenever my friends and I want to grab a drink in the B we start someplace else, and always end up at O’Leary’s, because everywhere else disappoints. It never fails. The Chill is always full of 50+ pervs and embarassing cougars. Choices is redneck central and usually way depressing. And the newly opened Rellik is overpriced and stuffy. SO. That always leaves O’Learys. Everyone is super friendly and joyous because they got hammered in 2 stiff Long Islands for $ 10! Young crowd, college vibe and cheap drinks… Score! Word of Advice: Bring cash! They don’t take CC’s and the ATM has a surcharge. Cheers, kids :)

Run-on sentence review: Thank you for having small walls on the back patio for the night before Thanksgiving when the«door man» tells me that I can’t go back inside to finish my drink because I stepped outside to pee in the Blyther’s bush because I didn’t want to wait in line for the bathroom key that is attached to a french fry basket so that I could jump over and make it back inside like I was 22 years old again and finally enjoy an Irish Car Bomb that put me over the edge… whew!

Pretty cool little spot. I’ve been there 5 or 6 times to date on various nights and there is usually a majority 40’s something crowd speckled with a few 20’s something. They have Guiness on tap which is a plus in my book!

Another fun Friday night with the girls! Our lucky nite, Jan, the Nordic Blond haired Fearless Owner, met our fabulous group and treated us a round of drinks! Thanks Jan, you’re thee best! Sonia, our faaavoorite bartender made her famous Long Islands and we were good all nite! We even got to meet her cool fiancé, Jason. Good friends & Good people at the best pub in Benicia! Whenever I’m in Benicia, which isn’t often… me and the girlies always like to meet up here and have long islands whilst chit chatting and gossiping! It’s a small local bar and the bartenders are nice and make a tasty, strong long island! I don’t usually get long islands unless my mission is to be a raging drunk for the night, but, however they make it here just taste so good and so right! It also doesn’t hurt that they’re only $ 5 !!! The bar itself is small but they have a back patio with a couple of tables and we always manage to secure the one in the corner… perfect for a gab fest with the girls… always good times!

O’Leary’s is a great small town Irish pub. It’s like Cheers… where everyone knows your name. Maybe that’s because I grew up in this town, 99% of the patrons are local and went to high school with me. It’s fun, I enjoy it. I don’t make it down too often, but when I go I generally have a great time. The drinks are really reasonable, they are cash only, but there is an ATM on site. The bartenders are knowledgeable and consistent. It is rather small, but there is an outdoor area as well. On a cold night the heating lamps will be on and the crowd will be huddled. Overall, this is a great little place. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already.

Oh O’Leary’s! Many a Thursday night have we had our $ 5 Long Island Ice teas out on the patio, catching up on the latest and greatest gossip! I love this place. Its probably about half the size of my apartment, but a great place to catch up with friends and get a few drinks in for $ 20 and under! I guess we go here so much, the bartender doesn’t even ask for our id’s and immediately goees, «Four Long islands right?» ahahahaha! She makes the BEST long island that I have ever had! And this is coming from someone who doesn’t drink Long Islands anywhere else but here!

Nice little pub near the waterfront in Benicia. It’s small, but comfortable. To give you an idea as to how small this place is, if you want to throw darts, you have to go out in the common area of the building that O’Leary’s shares with a sausage place and a couple of other shops. The bathrooms are also accessed from the common area and shared with the rest of the building. There is a nice little outdoor area, with a bit of a view of the Bay. The bar has a distinct Irish theme, and there is even a painting with the lyrics of Danny Boy posted on the wall. They have a full bar and a few beers on tap, including Guinness. Surprise! By the way, if you are in the bar, and the door to outside is closed, don’t make fun of the people out on the patio. They can hear every word you say. ‘Nuff said.

In San Francisco or Berkeley, I’d probably give O’leary 2 or 3 stars if I were feeling generous. The place is small, very small. I’d say that if the place is absolutely hopping, St. Patrick’s Day style hopping, you probably can fit in a baker’s dozen in here… Naahhh, ok I exagerate. We might be able to get 15 people in here! :) Ok so it’s small… that said, they have a small patio out back where you can drink while sucking on a cancer stick. Sadly, though, the patio is also quite small but, more important, it lacks character. It’s quite sad. But hey, they serve beer, and O’leary’s doesn’t have any competition in Benicia, so they get 4 stars. Now if someone with a vision were to open an Irish pub in Benicia the likes of the Irish Bank or O’Reilly’s in the City… then O’leary’s would be dead meat.
