After reading several Unilocal reviews, I expected the«blond bartender» to be a mean wench. Surprisingly, she’s really nice and has a lovely smile. She makes great drinks and has a fantastic attitude in my opinion. Wrong again, Unilocal

My hubby and I used to make the Warehouse a monthy dinner visit. We love the little town of Part Costa and the funky old Warehouse building. The last couple of visits(this last summer) were very disappointing. 1. They took away the soup/salad bar. 2. The steak was smaller and tough!(and I am not a food snob). We always looked forward to our visit to the Warehouse and actually gave it 2 more tries to see if they were just having an «off» night. Sadly we will not be going back there anymore, I miss the old Warehouse, what happened?!?

spacious, funky, ultra-casual working-class pub. good drinks & i can only say all the bartenders that i’ve talked with were great. love the informal interior layout & the timeless décor; worth poking around for its random collection of old pop culture items, if you like to call them that. friday saturday they do a very good prime rib; i always share, it’s big enough. enjoy the motorbikes and the location(near the water in a tiny hamlet), stop for beer, and if there’s not food to your taste, open your wallet and eat at the superb regional restaurant over the street. like the whole village, mostly alive weekends.

Fun local bar. Decent priced drinks. Service can be hit or miss, and often you have to wait for a drink. But there is a kind if charm to the place, and if your dog is well behaved, you can sit out on the front seating area with him/her, which is definitely nice. There’s a lot of random crap on the walls, and its more interesting than typical Applebee’s crap on the walls(or whoever does that). I’m not a fan of the big dead polar bear… makes me sad to see stuffed animals anywhere, especially polar bears. But I know that poor guy’s been dead a long time… I really don’t like taxidermy. Otherwise bar is decent and even offers a veggie burger on the menu.

Went here a few weeks ago. I rarely walk into a place, and turn around and walk out. Bad vibe. Really bad. Like something happened here once and the energy is stuck there(and no, I don’t believe in ghosts, nor have I ever experienced anything ghostly). Maybe I have now. Who knows, maybe it’s the ghosts of hangovers past. So try it for that.

Way overpriced. Food was decent but I could’ve gone to Ruth’s Chris for that amount of money and had way better food.

The décor is awesome and random. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. The crocodile cool is the best drink even.

Nice to sit outside and have drinks — but bring a lotta dough because the drinks are expensive. Can’t speak to the food, but I have my doubts about it.

Have to say first time ever rating here, I have had some drinks before and it will be the last time eating here. Not impressed that a 30 minute wait turned into over an hour. There was one big group and the majority of other tables were vacant but still not able to seat us. So once finally seated after checking about ten times they let us know that half the menu was not available. After we ordered we were notified that more items were not available. Sitting there waiting for food I looked at the lobster tank asking if the dead lobster laying on its back was supposed to be removed for sanitary reasons. Not sure about that but I think that is actually something a restaurant is supposed to do. Anyways I understand when a restaurant is slammed for the night but all it takes is some communication. Warehouse you have failed this city!!!

A Follow-Up: I used to frequent the Warehouse during the Summer months, but must say that I’m bummed that Gina is no longer behind the bar and has left. Larry is awesome, but as others have posted here Jen(the blonde) has an attitude problem and acts like she is doing you a favor pouring you a Beer. Brenda(the brunette) is just as bad. They both have huge ego’s and don’t really strike me as being very happy in their lives. They suffer from«Big Fish in Small Pond» disease. .. and should have nothing to do with anything slightly related to «customer service.» I know that the owner Ivana has gone through a «rough» patch over the last year, but she really needs to «clean» house and up her game. Otherwise, the Warehouse just becomes another place to say«Been There, Done That» and never go back. Let’s face it, there are other establishments in the East Bay that carry a lot of really good craft brew with much more«professional» bartenders out there that enjoy what they do and don’t act like they are doing you a «favor» serving you.

I’ve been there numerous times… Some of the bartenders are absolutely horrible. There is a blonde bartender names«Jen» has a terrible attitude, and a man named«Larry» very obviously ignored me until after the bar closed. That being said… The food is fantastic! My steak was amazing. And my waitress, «Candice,» was a sweetheart, and took amazing care of our entire table.

What a gem! Port Costa is a teeeeeeny tiny little town but such a cute jewel. This was the only place open at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon — so we stopped in after our hike. The four stars is really for ambiance and service and the quaintness of it all. The food was not special or worth the drive— it felt like reheated Costco fare… but hey, when you’re hungry and it’s the only option — it’s fine. They have an extensive drink list so that was fun. Beers, wine, and spirits, oh my! The ambiance is the best part by far. It has a spectacular view of the water(across a dusty parking lot) and inside is chockablock full of the randomest décor. From polar bears to rams to mummies to jukeboxes and arcade games. I definitely want to come back for drinks!

This is an amazing place, and you should see it. Especially if you: * Like taking beautiful winding drives to tiny, out-of-the way places but don’t want to be in the car for hours * Like history, especially Bay Area history(bootleggers and brothels — that’s how we do, son!) * Like drinking double cocktails(«All Drinks Are Doubles Unless Otherwise Requested») * Don’t mind peeing in front of other people(no door on the stalls would normally bug me; here, it does not– so yes, this place is magic) * Like drinking craft beers out of jam jars and using giant spools as tables * Appreciate a bartendress with extra sass(she’s not yelling, she’s Italian!) * Won’t get offended by lack of process and general disorganization(It’s not personal, and it’s definitely not meant to be «bad service.» They just do things in a weird, we’ve-always-done-it-this-way way. Because this ain’t Gary Danko. And you’ll live through it.) * Get all nostalgic when you see that vintage video game with the two big rifles on it(I know; we’re very old) and all that crazy antique décor inside * Appreciate places that are rare, weird, old, full of interesting stuff to see, slightly nonsensical, and totally genuine * Miss the 70’s

Very interesting place; half antique store, half dive bar, half«lakeside» patio. We stopped in after walking the Bull Valley trail to Port Costa for a summer beer and quick bite to eat. They have hundreds of beers to choose from(although only a few on tap) and the cheeseburger was actually really tasty despite clearly being from a frozen pre-made patty. We sat on the patio overlooking the bay(well technically there’s a parking lot and railroad track in between) and sipped Great White wheat with our burgers. Tap beers are $ 4 and the burger was $ 9. Nice that without many options for food and drink in this one-street town this one delivers! Bet the bar is a lot of fun at night too…

A polar bear, Medusa and some bikers walk into a bar… Although it sounds like a tall tale or the beginning of a bad joke, it’s actually a bar in Port Costa(east bay near Martinez and Crockett). In case you’re not familiar with this small town, there are two ways in and out, both involve narrow, curvy, dark roads. So if you do come here, designate a driver or plan ahead(you need to make the reservation about a week in advance) and stay the night at the Hotel Burlington across the street. The town is about a block long where the street dead ends. The drinks are strong and the women are stronger. This house of oddities has mixed drinks, beer and wine with a crowd consisting of locals, bikers, day trippers and people watchers. Open until 2AM, last call is at 1:45AM. Opens at 10AM daily. There is a giant polar bear that was shot in Alaska in the 60’s and made its way to Port Costa as settlement to a hefty bar tab. During the day there is a shop in the back on the way to the restrooms with antiques and random items. Great for large groups. It does get rowdy here on the weekend so don’t expect to sip a glass of wine here and have an intimate conversation. Warehouse is not known for its food or customer service so come for the drinks, stay for the«ambiance». This place is not for everyone, but if you enjoy roadside attractions, dives and people watching, it’s worth closing down the bar.

My boyfriend and I ordered their prime rib. Absolutely delicious! I almost always put salt & pepper and occasionally some kind of sauce(A1, Bbq, etc) on my meat. Their prime rib needed nothing! It was so juicy and moist and mouthwatering! I also ordered a Jameson and ginger ale. It was made perfectly! Love this place, and this was my first time here! Like other reviews say, its a dive bar with an old whimsical feel. There’s even a giant polar bear in the back, next to the bar, and a metal medussa to the side. Warehouse café is full of quirky decorations. Definitely coming back here again!

The Warehouse — an East Bay institution for as long as I can remember. Once a rowdier rite of passage for 21-year-olds in Contra Costa County and a bike run destination for mid-lifers on their Harleys, the Warehouse is now seeing a renaissance into a classier, trendier dive, and that’s completely okay. The same guys are running the place, but the chalkboard art and high-tech jukebox has made it considerably more Instagram worthy. Fortunately, little else has changed. $ 9 cocktails(i.e. a mason jar full of booze with a splash of sweet-and-sour) and a long list of beers(with an 80% chance of the one you want being out) dominate the menu. I’ve learned to just sit down, name a genre and take whatever they give me, and I’ve never been dealt a bad hand. My nights at the Warehouse typically revolve around the pool table, watching girls with nose rings slide dollar bills into the jukebox while people smoke cigarettes on the wooden picnic tables out front. On warmer nights, it’s a good place to watch the trains go by or the lights from Benecia reflect onto the delta. With prior clientele, it also used to be a great place to watch the late-night fistfights, but it feels like things are changing. We’ll see. A great spot if you’re looking for a go-to rather than a bar crawl. Drive slow and careful on the drives in and out of Port Costa, and watch out for deer. Also beware the door-free stalls in the ladies’ room, if you value your privacy, and say Hi to the bear for me. ;-)

Oh, the Warehouse… I have been visiting the Warehouse off and on for years now. I can’t even recall the last time I had been here, but all I know is, I needed to pay an old visit. And this time I was able to introduce this one of a kind gem, to my fiancé who had never been. One of a kind for sure, I think most reviews sum it up quite well, and have taken most of the words out of my mouth that portrays this place so well. It’s awesome for sure. Old, nostalgic, and whimsical to say the least. The food(from what I remember) is decent. Drinks are strong and cheap :) And they have a EXCELLENT selection of beers, with enough options to satisfy the pickiest of beer drinkers(me). And the prices are yet again, cheap. It appears they run out of a few here and there, but with a selection as long as they have, I’m sure your settle on something to compensate. This visit, I got some sort of chocolate stout beer that I cannot recall the name of, but it was quite good. This particular visit was the most packed I have ever encountered it to be. They had a live band playing and the energy was flowen. And all though it was packed, it was still comfortably bearable. And, I just discovered they have some little store in the back, filled with tons of little nostalgic, warehouse worthy, antique items for sale. Guess I was a little too engaged with the food and bar, back in the day to have noticed… oh adult hood :) As for my honey, he wasn’t necessarily impressed with the place, but he enjoyed him self. Be safe on your travels in and out, for the road to this haven are narrow and windy. Until next time…

At the end of Port Costa you’ll stumble on a magical place. A small town near the coast on the hill where it’s filled with old victorian styled homes and a small area for eateries like restaurants and bars. The drive to here sure seems like a journey and i recommend anyone to not take it alone or at night since the road gets steep and the hills get higher… So coming to this place you’ll need to have an open mind and also a thirst for steak because thats mainly what they serve. The food is so so. You get endless heaps of bread and an open salad bar station if you decide to go with just that. The menu is short and straight to the point. Unfortunately I tried their shrimp scampi and yes it was scampy. With little to be excited about. Although, the main attraction here is the Beer selection. It was AMAZING. and cheap! Thats what I would give an A+ for. They have over hundreds of it and kept in a fridge of your dreams. The whole place though, is quite amusing and very random as you would find things like a polar bear and elvis presley memorbilia’s all over. Not something you would expect, but very interesting conversations would arise. Come try for the beer and experience not for the meal!
