I don’t go out of my way to stay in motor inns, preferring to stay in either chain hotels or B&Bs. That being said, the Bennington Motor Inn was a perfectly reasonable place to spend the night. Nothing special, but a reasonably sized room with a decently comfortable bed. The room was clean enough, though there was a little mustiness when the A/C was turned on. Right off Rt. 7 so there was a bit of road noise into the evening. The fact is there aren’t a lot of choices in many areas(especially on short notice) and this place was pleasantly average and reasonably priced. Maybe my expectations were different from some of the others, but I thought the place was OK. I agree that the breakfast is totally forgettable. Maybe a lot depends on the room you get.

So disappointed. My husband and I ride out to Bennington once a year an we have always stayed here. Over the years nothing has changed, literally. What once was a quaint clean motel is now looking like a run down motel. It started at check in. The main office is dirty and smells like pets so bad. Mold above shower. Old broken chairs in room. Dirty rugs you hate to touch. The king bed was slated towards the center. Spider webs in bathroom. The bathrooms are so old. The curtains are probably original to this motel… They are all broke and need a good cleaning. It is sad because we once loved coming here. Walking distance to Main Street. The motel needs a complete renovation. Until then… Sad to say we will not be back. The 2 stars are for location.

Love this place. I stayed in the suite which is a normal hotel room(2 double beds and bath) with a room behind(one queen bed with sink, fridge, and microwave). Rooms can be separated by a French door. It’s quiet, clean and the owners are very nice. There are chairs on the front porch to «sit a spell.» The breakfast is nothing special but there is fresh fruit. The location is great it’s right on Main Street, a mile from the monument and two blocks from the four corners/business district. We were able to walk/bike to all the local attractions.

This place was pretty bad. Very old, creepy pictures on the walls, and we got stuck in the back of the building with a view of terrible landscaping and a giant fence. The picture looked ok online, and said that we would have a patio or balcony… we had 2 chairs plopped out behind the building staring at the ugly fence. I would recommend paying a little bit more money and staying elsewhere, this place was old and creepy.

Comfy bed. Large room. Friendly staff. Those are 3 of the most important factors when I am traveling on a road trip. I arrived in Bennington 2 hours after getting pulled over and ticketed outside of Syracuse. Totally bummed out, I just needed to unwind. Lucky for me, I chose the right hotel to do just that. My gigantic room had a very comfy bed and cable TV, which I don’t have at home. It was decorated like Grandma’s house, in a good way. It felt like home and not a sterile, overnight business stop hotel. After picking up some wine, cheese, meat and bread at a deli down the road, I just vegged out in my room for the remainder of my evening. I was happy my room had a bath tub, because I’m not much of a shower girl — and much prefer to read a good book while soaking off the days stress. There was a summer storm brewing, so I kept my windows open in order to watch the lightening(which we don’t get much of in Oregon). The walls must be pretty thick, because I never heard anyone in the other rooms, yet the parking lot was pretty full. In the morning, on my way out of town, I grabbed a complimentary bagel, cream cheese, fruit, danish and cup of coffee — for the road. Good thing about that breakfast, because there wasn’t a restaurant in the nearby vicinity, that I could tell. I can honestly say that for the price, this«cozy» hotel was a good deal and I would recommend it to travelers passing through.

I traveled with my daughter & grandson from California to Vermont and after a full day– of airplanes, bad food, a cheap motel by the Albany, NY airport — then a day of driving, and various other stressful activities, I was really looking forward to checking into a quiet, relaxing, small inn to recoup. So in mid afternoon, I drove into town, and what do I see ahead but hordes of people in the street, music playing and CARS parked everywhere! It was Hemming’s Summer car festival in full swing. And my little quiet inn was right across the street. Surprise, there was actually a parking place still left in the odd triangular shaped lot. The manager was sitting on the front step looking out at the festivities. My room was front & center… nice view downhill from the little deck in front, over the grassy hill and onto the busy street scene. With a beer and snacks, I sat & watched & listened. It was actually very pleasant; not rowdy at all. About an hour later a group of 5 – 6 Harleys checked in… nice middle aged bunch, who let us all know that they planned on sleeping in, so they wouldn’t wake us in the morning! The room itself was small, with screens on the window & a screen door you could open for light & air. It was clean, neat, done up like a Victorian flowery B & B… had the frig, coffee maker & hairdryer. Everything we needed. And I actually slept well for 2 nights there. They do need to check & replace light bulbs… 2 of the 3 lamps were out. Another irritation, each day the manager [ owner ?} would question me as to when I would be paying [even left a note on my door] When I said it was typical to pay at checkout, he backed off a bit, but still bugged me the last morning when he saw me loading the car. The ‘continental’ breakfast is skippable… just store packaged rolls. But down the block is a great new breakfast spot, Full Bellies. I won’t be returning to Bennington as far as I know. But with it being a popular ‘leaf peeper’ locale and with Hemmings being a world renown car place, this Motor Inn is a find for people on a budget.
