Even though we don’t live in the area we try to make it to Billy T’s each summer after dinner for an ice cream. They actually have a more elaborate menu we’ve never explored, but the shakes, cones and cups are part of «our» Vermont summer. There is some simple concrete seating out front by the road and parking around the side and back. Be sure to read the postings and figure out what you want to order before you get to the window, and count your change, the«college kids» who work there are nice enough, but from the time it took the two of them to calculate what was due back when we tried to make things simple by giving in a bill AND a coin they apparently have a ways to go before they graduate!

We wanted to try the lobster roll, but shied away when we found out it was made with mayo. Ordered two pints of whole belly clams, and they were the best we have had in recent memory. Very tender and flavorful! Market price, as anywhere.

This place simply put sucks. I have been ripped off before but at least the perpetrator used lubricant. Make your own cone at home or bring lubricant with you.

They now serve Giffords(YAY) and Turkey Hill Ice cream(BOO) — in addition to their own soft serve, and yogurt in multiple flavors. Love Love Love that they have Stewart’s Diet Root Beer — though you can’t go here on a diet! Lobster Roll: great toasted, buttered bun, good price, too little lobster, too salty and too much lettuce, mayo, and celery. I wish they had a hot buttered lobster roll — just toasted roll, hot butter, warm lobster– YUM. I would be willing to pay a higher price for that. Lobster is salty by nature and does not need any added salt. The seafood is fresh and pretty tasty. But it is all fried. Nothing is super greasy here. Depending on who serves you, the ice cream portion can be small, adequate or generous! They have plenty of outdoor seating in front and out back. I like this place!

On our way over to NY, we stopped at Billy T’s Northside Dairy Bar for a lunch break on a «scorching hot» muggy day. We ordered 2 Steamed Hot Dogs, Sweet Potato Fries, and 2 Soft Drinks for under $ 10. The food was up and ready in about 7 minutes. It began to sprinkle as we got our food and decided to eat our lunch out in the back of the building since the picnic tables are covered. The hot dogs were very tasty as we were hungry from the long drive. I got my hot dog with the works(extra charges), which was loaded with a sweet meat sauce, cheese sauce, sauerkraut, onions, mustard, relish, & ketchup on a soft hot dog bun. My friend got a hot dog with the standard relish, ketchup, and mustard. We shared the sweet potato fries, which were very good, very crispy and not greasy and were eaten very quickly. It stopped raining as we finished our food, great timing to get back on the road! Next time we stop here, we will definitely get 2 orders of sweet potato fries. Also, they now serve Wilcox Premium Ice Cream(hard serve) and Upstate Farms Ice Cream.

This place is closed for the winter, but during the summer has excellent ice cream and fried snacks.
