Manny Brown’s

I’ve eaten here a couple times now and I can honestly say this place is mediocre at best. The last time I was there I tried to get a tuna salad sandwich with toasted bread and ended up with a tuna wrap (minus the wrap, she substituted untoasted bread though) with tons of extras that I had to pick off.
She forgot our silverware; I had to ask her since she didn’t bring it before or when we received our food. She then asked if the food was okay about 30 seconds after receiving it! Finally, when we asked for the check, that was in her pocket! That shows where her priorities lie. You have to ask for silverware, but here’s your check!
It just really annoyed me that she couldn’t get an order as simple as a toasted tuna sandwich right. The other visit the server wasn’t as bad. My boy may like it, but I think we can do better than dinner at a place like this.

OMG. Do not succumb to the convenience! The only reason why this place remains in business: people who don’t know any better go there after the movies. Like us. IF only we had checked on Unilocal first. The other reviews are right: bad food & horrible service. One of the most poorly run restaurants continues to insult & enrage.
We sat outside & watched a train wreck of bad service & outraged patrons unfold right before eyes. It was almost comical. Two wise & prescient groups left the restaurant before a waiter even came by. Best approach — cut & run before you get trapped by the most neglectful waitstaff ever.
But this poor family of six with four young kids were dropped outside at a table too small & then attempted to get the empty table right next to them — it just needed cleared. (apparently they don’t bus tables at Mannys — there were countless empty tables that needed bused & we never saw anyone attempt to clear them) The family tried to get the staff to address the situation several times & we watched the hostess give them total attitude & tell them she was busy. After ten minutes (no exaggeration) they finally resorted to asking for the manager & got to sit down.
My own experience was poor but not nearly as dramatic. We managed to order appetizers & then flagged down our waiter to get the bill & escape the ordeal.
It is clear that Manny Brown’s is not making any attempt to improve their service after numerous complaints & poor reviews.

Super-​cali-​fragi-​lame! there, i said it, and i feel better having said it. I don’t know what was worse, the salad that had one leaf in the grave and another on a banana peel, or the sandwich with the sandstone bun. to look on the «positronic» side, the beer selection is good, just sit at the bar as not to fall victim to the egregiously inattentive wait staff.

We tried this place twice. The first time, it wasn’t horrible, it was just expensive. The second time we went, we wanted to eat quickly before our movie at the AMC. It was the SLOWEST service ever, the food was god awful, the waitress was too shy to even take our order. Even the patrons at the other tables were complaining… to the point that all of the tables in our area ganged up on the servers and told them how awful the service was. So, my recommendation: Eat somewhere else.

I have been here maybe 5 xs and they all have been pretty poor… The only reason I keep going back is due to how close they are to the AMC movies, Usally the food is nasty and the staff dont really seem to care about anything expect chatting with eachother.

Manny Brown’s Bar and Grill is a locally owned and they sport three locations. The original one is in downtown Philly and it is ranking good reviews as well as the one to the east of me. However the reviews are mainly for the bar and beer offerings…
But I was in it for the food! I have tried this bar and grill three times and it has to be poor management! The owner of the restaurant does not care, because after our final visit I did make contact through their site and I never received a response.
Located in a mall, right outside of a large movie theater, which I would think they should get a lot of traffic from this. Each time we have been in there they were dead!
The service is some of the very worst that I have ever encountered. The servers hang at the bar and then sit on side stools along the wall, eating while a patron waits for service, even to be approached for the first time. You finally have to get up and go to them! Then good luck having them care that you do want food and beverages, because they do not!
Once we did get our food, wow was it bad, each and all three times. What finally did it (and we only went, because I had a gift card) I ordered baby back ribs, they smelled so funny and I do mean the smell would not leave. I tried them and they were disgusting. We were so fed up we just left, promising to never return.
By the way, do not wait forever at the host stand, seat yourself!
