Great food and great service! Received a hot order of yummy hush puppies when we sat down. Good came quickly and was delicious. We had BBQ sandwiches with slaw and green beans. Finished off with a piece of 10 layer cake(Smith Island cake in MD). Excellent way to end our meal. Would definitely come back.

Small local chain with decent eastern nc bbq and good selection of sides. Freshly fried flounder was good. No frills(served on styrofoam, including drinks) but clean and good food. This isn’t fine dining(French fries were frozen and green beans canned) but food made with care — saw them breading and frying chicken piece by piece. Barbecue is typical with vinegar based sauce, didn’t see another sauce on offer but the vinegar sauce was delicious. Refreshingly diverse clientele, with friendly service and excellent sweet tea.

My husband and I had been traveling on I-95 looking for some authentic NC bar-b-que. Every place we stopped looked like it had been cooked to death and was in buffet style. Terrible. But this place was clearly a local favorite and the BBQ sandwich with the amazing hush puppies with a drink for $ 4.87 is a great value. Delicious. The Brunswick stew was good to! Definitely worth the stop of you’re looking for some good NCBBQ.

Excellent choice… Local flavor restaurant… Love the barbecue, fried okra, and hush puppies. Just traveling through to Charlotte, right next to the highway. Very fast service too. A much better choice than a fast food restaurant

Tucked behind burger king and next to days inn. You won’t leave hungry. Hush puppies on the table before you order anything. Food was cooked fresh and plentiful. Delicious down home cooking. Definitely worth the stop.

As one that has had BBQ all throughout the south I’d say this is a pretty solid BBQ joint.

Excellent North Carolina food except need to add Pepsi cola and Mountain Dew to the menu.

The barbeque was good — not outstanding, but well worth the stop off I-95. Service was fantastic — super friendly and makes you feel right at home.

This is some good food! We were driving from Richmond to Charleston when we found this place on Unilocal. No frills, but the food is fantastic. The fried chicken is perfect. Not greasy, but crisp and wonderful. I could have eaten way more than I ordered. The staff is amazing. They could tell we were clueless about how the locals order, so they explained how everything worked. I have been to much fancier restaurants where the service wasn’t as good. So…if you’re driving down 95 and get hungry. Stop here for your friend chicken fix. You won’t regret it. Oh, and it’s located a few seconds from the exit, so you don’t have to drive out of your way to find it.

Our first NCBBQ experience, and it was great! The staff here is super friendly. True southern hospitality. The fried chicken was tender, juicy, and delicious. BBQ sauce, okra, and Brunswick stew was excellent. If you order the pulled pork, understand that it is not smothered in some BBQ sauce. A tactic used by places that dry out their pork. You get a delicious pork with a red pepper vinegar sauce. Definitely stop here! Fast service too!

If I could get a lower rating I would. It disappoints me in the Unilocal system, we went there because of the good reviews. Literally every thing we ate came out of a can or a plastic bucket. This is no secret, because you can see them all behind the counter when you go up to pay. If only we had noticed that when we first walked in. Sweet little waitress, however she didn’t know anything about the menu. But after all, what’s to know? Every single bit of it was canned! I still can’t get over that! Wait, there was one exception: The side of squash came from a freezer bag, but they did deep fry on-site. In oil that clearly was days old. Very dark, very old tasting oil fried squash. Avoid this place like the plague! We couldn’t even finish half our meal. There’s a Subway and a Burger King right across the street. Either one would be a better choice.

Fried chicken rocked! Slaw was good and potato salad watery:-/ the BBQ pork more like boiled pork? But the fried Chicken was crunchy, crispy and wonderful!

Pulled pork sandwich was great. I would skip the slaw next time. They served hush puppies like baskets of bread! The women working were extremely friendly and gave quick service. Potato salad was better than most. A great find at intersection of 1 – 40 and 1 – 95.

Ok, so you find yourself traveling on i95, the family’s hungry for BBQ and the nearest ‘big city’ is Benson, NC. If you’re me you’ll forgive the fact that there are only 3(now 4) reviews and head to the White Swan! Here’s the skinny… Service A++, the cutest, sweetest, grandmotherliest waitress… You’ll wish you could take her home with you! A doll Food Eh… I’m torn. However, when I remind myself we were in the middle of nowhere, it was pretty damn good. To quote my GF, «that made my day». Ok, specifics… Fried chicken A++. Definitely the best i’ve had in a long long time. What we all wish KFC would make and we could have it anytime and not have to drive to Benson to get. Other A grades go to the Brunswick stew, the cole slaw and the sweet tea. Crazy as it sounds(considering the namesake) B grading for the BBQ sauce :((red sauce as they call it) was more like a wing sauce and less like a molasses-ie, tangy, peppery BBQ that I was craving. Chili cheese fries were decent, baked beans were no different than Campbell’s. All in all, I urge you to go, say hi to grandmom for us and have yourselves some yummy fried chicken! Who knows, maybe we’ll see you there, cause I’d definitely go back.

We were a little disappointed by this little chain place. Very friendly people but limited menu options and my bbq sandwich didn’t even rate a plate.

sorry, i ordered barcecue chicken and got fried chicken. it was dry and hard to chew. i didnt even eat it. the potato salad was good. coleslaw portion too small. i would stick to smithfield’s if you want really good barbecue. the owner of the winery i toured recommended this place over them. sorry it didnt make the cut for fried chicken which i didnt order. i really like barbecue chicken and would recommend not going to this place.

I was passing through and needed sometthing to eat. I saw the review from Richard T. and decided to check it out. I think it is a good place for some quick NCBBQ. The service there was awesome! When you come in they quickly get you a drink and hush puppies while you decide what you want to eat. They have a very nice variety of food for a decent price as well as different sauces to go with it. To wrap it up, the service was good(very friendly and fast), food was great(tasty and good variety for low price), and it was easy to get to from the highway so it did not take to much time from my trip. Awesome!

Just happened to stop into the White Swan for some Eastern NCBBQ. Typical of that style of restaurant. Very clean, friendly people, all«locals» generous portions of classic NCBBQ& sides. Good Sweet tea. I’m not a big one on hush puppies, but the ones they serve were about as good as any that I have had, however is was a nice touch when they brought them with my drink before I made my order! If you are looking for classic eastern NCBBQ, this will get ya what ya crave! White Swan appears to be a small regional chain. This one is off of the Benson NC exit of I-95.
