Hutchen’s B-B-Q

The pulled pork dinner plate was flavorful, and with three sides and cornbread, was plenty of food. The fried catfish, 2 large filets, came with three sides and hush puppies, as well. Overall, I would say that Hutchen’s offered good food, reasonable prices, generous portions and a pleasant atmosphere.

You should like the warm natured atmosphere and interesting choice of menu items that you can’t find just anywhere. Over the years most of my best friends of either gender love to hang out at this restaurant, and, it keeps them out of trouble, while it’s at it! I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant for great bar-​b-​que, Ky. Lake catfish and other comforting food. This is many times somewhat of a tourist area in the summer and Hutchens can give tourists a taste of Ky. farmers and fishermen while not being stale or outdated. This restaurant is most well known for its bar-​b-​qued pork shoulder that you should be able to get by the pound for picnics or by the shoulder or half shoulder, it is a very popular picnic item here.

When your driving the back roads of Southwest Kentucky and you see a neon pig you have got to pull over and check it out!
Good old school BBQ. Very clean tables. Great waitress’s. Yes they call you“Hon” and that makes me feel good. I had the BBQ pork sandwich and my wife had the BBQ turkey. Both excellent. They may look pedestrian but the meat on both was outstanding. Good but not overpowering smoke, great flavor and very tender. They know what they’re doing here. Lots of menu options, more that could be sampled at one lunch sitting. The place was full of locals who all had to get back to work by 12:30 If you don’t like the sit down experience use the drive through. Check it out. It’s worth the stop.

My favorite barbecue in the area, along with Starnes. Sweet sauce. Lots of other good stuff too. Home cooking. Plus anyplace you can get a real cherry rc has to be good right?

BBQ, really real BBQ. Hutchins is an institution in Benton Kentucky. It has been mentioned in numerous movies about the south. Even though, some would argue that we’re more Midwest.
Every time I get down to this end of the state I make it a point to come in and reaffirm that Benton Kentucky has a lot more going for it than some would let on.
Compared to other barbecue joints of similar size, this is a five. The meat is always perfectly seasoned. The smoke flavor neither overpowers nor is overpowered. The sauce, as always, is well beyond what one would expect in such a small venue.
The side items are, unfortunately, right off the Sysco truck but, that is to be expected. The focus here is the meat. And they do focus on the meat.
I’m taking a star for the lack of creativity with sides, however this does not indicate any slights on the main focus: meat.

Hutchen’s is one of my favorite restaurants to go to in Benton. The BBQ and service are good, and the prices are fair. The wait for the food usually isn’t very long, even during lunch time. I will continue going to Hutchen’s because it’s one of the best places to eat in town.
