I totally get why Fred’s is a Bentonville institution. The history, celebrity patronage… it makes coming here a rite of passage. The service here is top-notch, just what you’d expect from a restaurant in the South. Everyone here is absurdly nice, and you’ll hear«sweetheart» and«hun» thrown around — it makes you feel like you’re eating at home. Additionally, the ambiance is quite nice, too — management has done a fantastic job of renovating the restaurant. I ordered the smoked sirloin, which is really just a prime rib that’s smoked instead of grilled. My steak was a touch overcooked but not worth sending back to the kitchen — really great flavor with the smoke, making it a pretty unique dish. I got a side of spaghetti with my steak because Fred’s is apparently known for it, and I have to say… it wasn’t my particular favorite. The noodles were cooked fine, but the sauce was more akin to a chunky chopped tomato sauce instead of a smooth tomato sauce — just not my particular cup of tea. Ambiance and service make Fred’s. I only wish I had ordered real barbecue and sides instead, since I had a couple bites of my coworkers’ plates — pretty good ‘cue here!

I will update this review in more detail as time allows, but I wanted to get it on the books ASAP. Great place, very good food, excellent service and fair prices. They accommodated our 20-person group without a flinch, just like we were a party of 4 dropping in for dinner. The drinks and food came post haste and with not just a smile, but a story or two and some good humored jabs from our server. Excellent barbecue, they also have steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes, although their Bolognese sauce on the side of spaghetti I had was the primary reason for the one-star downgrade. On night two I had the lasagna which was pretty good, not quite like my mom, grandma, mother-in-law, and Zia Gina make, but not bad. Prices range from $ 14-$ 35+ for dinner entrees, including soup or salad and a side or two, very fair for food and service of this caliber. We have gone to Fred’s for years. Looking forward to going back after the fire I was incredibly disappointed. The hostesses was incredibly rude. Wait staff was slow and inattentive. Many favorites that we went back for were not on the menu or available. Our steaks were very under cooked and the wait staff did not come back to check on our food. Won’t be going back. Find a new local favorite.

Really impressed with this little place. From the street it looks like a very tiny house, it’s actually quite large and seems to have been renovated recently. 5 stars for service. They are QUICK! It took less than 5 mins for our server to get our drinks from the bar. Our appetizer came within 5 mins after that and the entrée arrived just as we were finishing our app. Very impressive! My husbands steak was perfect! He was raving about how it was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. I ordered the Alfredo pasta with steak. It was basically like buttered noodles with Parmesan sprinkled on top and they steak was pretty fatty. I ate some of it but pushed the steak to the side of my plate(to bring home for my dog). The server noticed I wasn’t eating much and questioned if I didn’t care for my meal. I explained that it wasn’t creamy like traditional Alfredo and he agreed that it appeared dry. Seconds later the chef comes to our table and apologized profusely and agreed it was not prepared properly. He worked my dish away, took it off our bill and gave us free cheesecake. So nice of him! The cheesecake was amazing. It wasn’t a traditional cheesecake. Very soft and almost like it was whipped somehow. Definitely not dense. They drizzled Homemade caramel on top. Even though there was a minor snafu, we will be back! Great service by every staff member we encountered!

This place has been totally redone and is very nice! Great place to take anyone you want to impress or out for a nice dinner. The Hickory Sampler plate is great for trying everything they specialize in. Would recommend splitting it though with a salad or something else, lots of meat! Can’t wait to go back and take guests here.

This place is great. A funky but nice spot just out of town. Great ribeye, chicken, loved the trout too. Good desserts but cobbler was the best.

5 Stars! The ribs for an appetizer had a great hickory flavor, they were delicious with and without sauce! The Smoked Strip Steak had great flavor, moist, and the crust was flavored with a simple salt and pepper rub. Without a doubt, we will be eating here every time we travel here from Virginia for work!

I am on a quest to eat at all the top rated BBQ places in NWA. So this place definitely was on my list. I ordered the ‘A taste of Fred’s’ sampler plate containing 2 Ribs, pork, beef and andouille sausage. The Ribs and sausage were mouth watering. Beef was ok. Pork slices were very dry and I had to have it slathered in the tangy sauce that was provided along with it. My wife got the Marinara Primavera pasta as she is not into BBQ. She didn’t like it much as she felt it was very bland. The bread provided with the meal was not good either. Hard crust and chewy. But all things considered, for the ribs, andouille sausage and the amazing service, I give it 4 stars. I will be visiting again and now I know what I should get.

Have been a fan for 25+ years. But I have to say that the rib-eye steak just isn’t as good as it used to be. Service is usually the best up in the«Cabin» and a little better atmosphere.

Open again, great atmosphere and dining experience. I really like the smoked sirloin just like a very good prime rib. My wife likes the shrimp on skewers and their spaghetti

This is a fantastic place to eat. The food is fantastic, and they have made Ozark Cream Stout available on draft. The service has always been pretty good, and the only reason I don’t give them a full five stars is because of their horrible parking… last time I was there I had to park in the Walmart Neighborhood Market lot.

Food was pretty good! At first our table was close to the door, lots of movement back and forth which got annoying! We asked to be moved, and everything was great after that!

I love Fred’s and went there the day it reopened after the fire. The food is still great, especially the smoked sirloin, and the dining room has the same look and feel, but is better organized. I usually get Fred’s sampler plate which contains a bit of each of their smoked items.

I’ve already been here 4 times since they re-opened! One time was with a large group and my water glass was always full! Everyone in out group seemed to enjoy their meals. Their baked beans are delicious. For appetizer, the spinach dip was better than mine. My favorite is the smoked sliced sirloin. Oh, their bread has a nice crispy crust. I need to try their pasta and their cheesecake. Lastly, I feel the prices are reasonable.

Happy to report, after a few more visits, that Fred’s really is back! Can’t wait for spring on the expanded patio!

Great atmosphere. Sat in the bar section because it’s a little quieter than the main area. Our waitress was bartending and serving those seated in the same section as the bar and although she was definitely busy, she was super nice. We got cold and she turned up the heat no problem and reassured us when we felt like we had been waiting a little while on our food. The bread was warm and delish. I got the baked potato soup, grilled chicken and veggies. the soup was the perfect size for a pre-meal meal. The chicken was so flavorful. Grilled chicken is sometimes bland from restaurants, but that was not the case. It was the best I’ve had in a long time. Everyone loved their meals.

Fred’s is back in business and just as amazing as I remember it. The smoked sirloin, their house version of a prime rib, was slow smoked to perfection! Everything from the signature salad dressing, the steaks, the desserts, to the coffee was outstanding! As always the service is impeccable and since the reopening they have added amenities like free valet parking and a doorman that really adds to the elite dinning experience that Fred and Lou prided themselves on! It’s a Bentonville must.

Great to see Fred’s back up and running and their new makeover is very nicely done. More modern, open and lighter inside but still retaining some of the original charm. Very friendly service and very nice food. Well worth a stop if you want to try an authentic original Bentonville restaurant. I wish the Fred’s steaks were as good as they were in the early 2000’s. Still a good size but I suspect they are getting slightly cheaper cuts of meat now than they were before. The smoked meat is excellent. Despite this minor criticism I’ll still be back.

Glad they are back but wow the service is the worst I have ever experienced. I realize New Years Eve is busy but using«busiest time of year» is no excuse for having to wait on your meal for almost two hours.

They have a Food truck on A Street. Got a pork BBQ sandwich. Came with chips. $ 8. Sauces on the side. Meat warm. Bread cold. Seemed a lil pricey. But tastes good.
