Mountainside Restaurant

This is our second time at Mountainside, and we have no regrets. Our server, Christine, was fantastic. She was very friendly and attentive. We had the $ 19.99 pizza/​wings special, which seemed a good value. The wings were meaty… not dried out like at some places, and the pizza was very good. We would prefer to have pepperoni on top of the cheese, rather than under, but no big deal. As weekenders this is now our favorite place for pizza in Berkeley Springs.

To start with I enjoyed my time at Mountainside very much last night. The staffing seemed a bit lite, but our waitress was very friendly and there were not many customers there. The restaurant was clean very homey feeling. My buddy and I sprang some surprises on them by order something’s not on the menu and changing something on the menu. I had a full rack of ribs slathered in their secret house recipe sauce that is normally reserved for their Wings. Very impressed with their willingness to make the change for a slight up charge. The ribs were excellent and definitely made my top 3 rib joint. The meat fell right off the bone and you will need a fork to eat these ribs. The hand cut fries could have stayed in the fryer longer but were still very good none the less. My buddy got a burger and other then having a miss-​interpretation of «medium-​rare» he said it was very good as well. They made him an «Arnold Palmer» drink which they don’t have on their menu but after a brief description, they made it and that was excellent as well.
If you go, you will enjoy yourself and the food. I certainly will be returning for more ribs or possibly the «terminator».

this is my third review. none of my reviews show up. does merge restaurant have the ability to delete. worst dinner yet tonight. ordered lasagna. it was only noodles and meat sauce. no ricotta cheese. she said that is all they put in it. I told manager they shouldn’t call it lasagna. she then turned nasty and told me I complain with every order. I told her if they would get orders correct, I wouldn’t need to complain. she remembered that last time I called because she sent out a hot bottle of soda vs a cold one as was ordered. now this is my fault. nope. DO NOT RECOMMEND. mediocre at best and often rude

Driving through the lovely town of Berkley Springs on our way to PA for the weekend, we took note of the charm that this town has and drove out of our way to come back through it to enjoy some lunch and take in some of the local shops.
With the help from Google we decided on the Mountainside Restaurant to take our family of 5 for lunch. We were greeted by a blank stare from what I can only hope is not the only waitress this place has to offer, (she was however the only one in here today). This would not be a problem for most waitresses since the place was empty! There was a table of 3 in there before us and another family of 5 came in during our meal. We were very confused with the décor and the name… Georgios Pizza… Mountainside…should have been a red flag but we pressed on as our kids had been cooped up in a car for 6 hours… My son ordered the cheesesteak… which had very little steak and a lot of bread… it was served by itself (no sides)… And was 6 bucks.
My little girl wanted pizza… she weighs about 35 lbs and I asked if she could get one slice instead of the 2 that was advertised… of course the very accommodating waitress said NO… so we picked the appetizer platter for her and my 3^rd child to split… it was pretty decent and fairly priced at around $ 10… Obviously we were disturbed that a pizza joint that sells pizza by the slice would refuse to sell less than 2 slices, but we kept on! I ordered the boneless wings (12) of them, I asked to have two different flavors and was yet again met with disappointment when I was told no… she said they would have to put the sauces on the side rather then toss the wings in them if I wanted two… Since I prefer my wings tossed in the sauce I opted to just pick one. When my plate arrived with the boneless wings and what appeared to be a generic bbq sauce squirted over the top of them as if someone was putting ketchup over fries, I was obviously not pleased… they couldn’t do that with 2 sauces??? Really! But I would have let that go except super waitress didn’t bring any ranch or blue cheese for my wings… Do they not eat wings in WV?
I could have asked for some, except we never saw the waitress again until it was time to pay up!
The fresh cut fries would have been good if they new how to cook fries… last time I went out to eat, soggy fries didn’t spark my interest…
My wife had a side Caesar salad… she said it was good! I can’t believe they didn’t find a way to screw that up… you know lettuce and cheese!
The mediocre food was only outdone by the terrible service! #fixtheworld=firelazypeople
Not only do I not recommend this place, I don’t even recommend driving by this place. it destroyed our impression of Berkley Springs!

The food was really bad… I got an Italian sub and the meat quality was horrible — practically inedible. It still haunts me every time we pass the sign for the restaurant.

So, is this place a sports bar or a pizza joint or an American restaurant? I’m not really sure. Besides the mild identity crisis that is the Mountainside Restaurant, the food was good. The pizza was decent, and hit the spot and the staff was super friendly, but maybe because we were the only ones in there.
All the sporting goods were brand spanking new when I went, some I think may have still had price tags?

Not good. The manicotti was stouffers w a slice of Swiss melted on top of the ragu. My side salad was lettuce with a mountain of mozzarella and canned mushrooms on it. It was like they dumped their pizza toppings on a plate and pretended it was salad. (Canned mushroom slices?) my husband had the Reuben which was ok but came with the soggiest grossest fries.
Our waitress was nice enough but I should have known better when everytime I asked if something was good, she just said she didn’t know– she’d never tried it. I should have followed her lead.

We were famished after a four hour hike up a nearby mountain. Ordered a cold beer and cheeseburger with fries. Waitress was a bit surly and demanded to see my ID, although I am in over 60! Wondered if they had gotten busted recently? So the fries were homemade and very decent. Beer was cold although brand selection limited. Burger was average, previously frozen patty. Toasting or steaming the bun would have been nice, who likes cold buns anyway? On the plus side was a garnish of deep fried pickle spear. Not bad for informal joint. Who knows why she carded me though.

Pretty good. The wait staff was extremely friendly. I got the pizza with ham, chicken, and green olives. It definitely satisfies and the crust was quite good. Girlfriend got the Applewood Bacon Cheddar burger and it came with a fried pickle, which was interesting. I would definitely return.

I went here on Sunday evening with a group of 12. We ranged in age from 4 to 65 and all were completely satisfied with our experience. The ambiance was nice, the waiters were friendly, and the service was quick and accurate. We ate pizza, cheese sticks, wings, and salad– all were delicious. No complaints from this diner!

Nice little place up on the hill. A bit off the beaten path. The service was great. Very friendly and engaging.
As for the food…
I had the white pizza, it was pretty good. The crust was a little chewy but not bad. The Taco salad is a bit of a misnomer. It is really more of a Nacho Grande as it were. Nachos with vegetables all over it. The folks that had it liked it, but felt the chips fell a little short. The burgers were very impressive. Those that had the burgers were extremely happy.
So, bottom line, getting off the main strip, looking for a great place to hang out with friends all at a reasonable price, this might do it for you.
