I’ve owned a Dimension One Spa since 1998. Unfortunately, «Berkeley Heat»(formerly Tubworks) has historically been the only official licensed Dimension One service provider over the years. Their ability to service my spa has ranged from barely acceptable down to non-existent, with my average experience being«Poor». Getting basic service has always been a struggle. First I would leave a message with the service department which typically did not call back until I left repeated messages over several days. The appointment was scheduled far out(technician usually extremely overbooked). Then when the technician comes, he may or may not be prepared and/or competent and the probability of him having the required part is about zero(even when I’m pretty sure what part is required and try to emphasize the model of the tub, the problem, and the likely repair required). It hasn’t always been terrible. One of my of 4 – 5 service experiences was actually reasonable and the service tech was competent — there was a competent service guy on staff for a brief period and I managed to get lucky and have one of my minor spa issues while this guy worked there. But every other service experience was pretty bad(I think about 3 others). The problem seemed to be their ability to retain capable service staff. The worse experience was when I couldn’t get the repair guy to stick around for more than about 10 – 15 minutes(2 – 3 visits). Each time he would say something like«I need to order a part», or «I have to check/consult with someone on this», followed by «I’ll call you in a day or two». Then I would wait and not get a call, finally calling the store after a week or more and all they would do would be to schedule another(inconvenient) appointment — even after I explained the futility of this repeated ridiculous exersize. This repeated for months until I got so frustrated I called Dimension One and pleaded my case and got them to agree to let a company out in Walnut Creek(technically not the right«service area») service my spa. To be completely fair to «Berkeley Heat», they do not sell or service Dimension One spas anymore, and they may provide reasonable service these days to the spas that they do sell. If they somehow figured out how to provide good spa service these days(my last experience was several years ago), it would be a major change from the 10+ years during which I suffered through horrific customer service from this organization, and I think this level of inexcusable abuse should be noted and communicated. There seems to be a lot of positive reviews for fireplace insert installation and they may be very good at that. And once the insert is installed, the need for maintenance is far less than with a spa(the spa having pumps, water plumbing, heaters, ozone lamps, jets, etc…). Kudos to «Berkeley Heat» if they found a business they can handle. I’m not at all surprised that they removed«Tubworks» from their official business name to disassociate from over a decade of pissing off spa service clients. But I would warn anyone not to buy a spa brand(from any company) that points you to «Berkeley Heat» as their official regional(ie, you have no other choice) service provider.

I actually would like to give 4.5 stars. We walked into this spot Thanksgiving time, and we were welcome by Nico who was very professional and helped us figure out which hot tub to buy. To be honest, we were nervous at first because it was such a big purchase. But we took the risk and it was worth it. right after we decided to purchase, we put in a deposit and then two nice gentleman came to our house and evaluated the location. A few days later, we were notified of the final estimate which was within our budget so we went for it. The thing that would have made me give it five stars stead of four-star is I wish they had communicated better the series of events that were going to happen next. it would’ve been nice if they gave us a statement of the things that were about to happen but it doesn’t matter anyways because everything went so smoothly. A concrete slab was made for us to put the hot tub on and lights and connections with the hot tub happened within the timeframe that they gave us. we just enjoyed our first dip Christmas eve. Best Santa gift ever!

My wife and I had a great experience with Berkeley Heat this Fall, buying an A7 tub for our backyard remodel in Orinda. Nic was our salesperson and we also had great assistance from Cesar on the install and in figuring out the cover lifter. They kept us posted regularly on the tub delivery schedule. They were honest on the various pricing issues and we’d recommend them to others who are considering purchasing a spa.

We just got two gas inserts and a log set for our three fireplaces. We could not be happier. I worked with Nick and then Dan in the store. They were very helpful and Dan made it possible for us to get hundreds of dollars in rebates and take advantage of a sale. It turned out to be much much less than Summit in Castro Valley. The installer Moises was fabulous. He was always on time and really knows his craft. He had really good ideas about ascetics and working with our old Berkeley fireplaces. His crew was great and cleaned up every day. They get an A++. I have already recommended all of them to my friends. No more no burn days in our house!

Niccolo and Dan were really knowledgeable and patient when I went in to buy an Infrared sauna. I called around to compare prices and I got a really good deal with Berkeley Heat. They explained the costs, and the delivery and installation process and it pretty much as they said it would, and were very easy to get on the phone whenever I had additional questions. Super excited about the sauna now! I had a very positive experience with this company and highly recommend them.

I promise you this was one of those places that we ‘bumped into’ while looking for fireplace assistance. What we got was a hot tub instead! Berkeley Heat which is run by two very capable men by the names of Dan and Nick. After looking at the fireplaces, we saw hot tubs and asked about them. With the information that was given to us by Nick, and with knowledge of what we wanted to buy, we could not have been happier! The delivery of the tub was almost to the day they predicted, and set up was easy(with the help of an electrician). Fireplaces or hot tubs, you can’t get any better than at Berkeley Heat.

We went during one of their sales events and purchased a wonderful gas fireplace insert to convert our wood burning one. Niccolo(Nick) was our wonderful sales manager and even had the visiting Regency rep get involved with all the option choices. They walked us through the selections and were incredibly helpful. The tough part was getting it installed as it involved a long gas line and new electrical line, but Berkeley Heat recommended their top guy Moises. Moises was amazing, creative and talented. Took three days of work and the install team took on these challenges, custom cut the frame to fit inside the opening, painted everything, made NO messes for us to clean up, made it look so professional and were outstanding. I highly recommend this outlet(friendly, informative folks who you would like to do business with) and, very importantly, an installation that is totally professional and unique. Go for it! The gas fireplace is mesmerizing and warm and cozy. Totally worth the money! It changes those chilly Berkeley evenings to ones we look forward to now.

we hired an independent contractor of our own to do the installation but Berkeley Heat tells me they wiil not deliver the tub unless and until I withdraw the prior post. I have paid over $ 6k to them and will also have to pay my contractor for standing by

Very good experience purchasing a gas stove from Berkeley Heat. Nic in sales was responsive and helpful and the installers he recommended(Moses and Jorge) were a pleasure to work with: they were easy to contact, punctual, and did excellent work.

I recently bought a Bullfrog spa from Berkeley Heat. Decided to give them 5 stars, not because everything went perfectly, but because when things went wrong they went above and beyond my expectations to make everything right. To start, they gave me a very competitive price. Then I received the spa 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Everything good so far. Unfortunately, the electrician that they recommended for the install accidentally nicked one of the pipes when he was running the conduit. Not good. However, the electrician worked with Berkeley Heat to get a replacement part and then offered to do the installation for free, including materials! I didn’t accept his offer because I didn’t think it fair that he should have to come out of pocket for a mistake that he fixed, but he still gave me a discount and even gave us a bottle of champagne as a gift to say that he was sorry for the mistake. I was concerned that the repair voided the Bullfrog warranty, so Berkeley Heat even signed a document agreeing to cover any parts under warranty that Bullfrog refused to cover. Finally, they gave me some additional chemicals for free and were very responsive during the entire ordeal. Amazing service that exceeded my expectations!

Hey, these are the same guys as «Stoves by the tubmakers»! Same phone # & same address! Pretty clever.
