I loved this place, so sad to hear it closed. They always played great music and it was just a perfect, mellow place to work or hang out and visit with friends.

It breaks my heart Café Yesterday is closed. It was the first place I discovered after moving to CA. Very good coffee and food at reasonable prices and good wifi too. What a loss. It had real character. To the owners and staff: thank you! I hope great things for you on whatever path you now walk. Thank you!

Stellar coffee, courteous and lively staff, awesome breakfast sandwich! I plan on coming back anytime I am working in Berkeley. The seating and tables is very spacious.

Love love their breakfast sandwich!!! Ask for their fully loaded breakfast sandwich it will not disappoint you! I miss their verve coffee, last time I got coffee there I ask for a hazelnut latte and it tasted like water and syrup :/. When they had verve it use to taste much much better! excellent service!

Its awesome for those who live in the 1122u building, cause we have acess to the Café from inside our place :) The food is great and people there are really kind!

Nice vibes. but I was disappointed in the food(we had the breakfast burrito and loaded sandwich, which was merely eggs w/bacon). Cashier was also aloof and not exactly friendly.

My friends and I stopped in on our way out of Berkeley to get some breakfast for the road. I ordered the veggie bagel which has cream cheese, tomato and cucumber on an everything bagel. It was good! A different style of everything than I was used to be come to think of it they’re always a little different. Got an iced coffee as well. I ordered my friends the fully loaded — one on a croissant which it normally comes on and one in a tortilla. The fully loaded has everything you could imagine — eggs, bacon, cheese, avocado, tomatoes… I think that’s it? They loved their sandwiches and I also got them two large lattes which they said were exceptional. I would probably return if I lived in the area. Big seating area with couches, bar stools and tables. Free wifi– although I couldn’t seem to connect, but it is definitely free and open! Very friendly staff who are working hard to get everyone’s drinks and food out. There were only 2 this morning when I went in and it still didn’t take too long!

A ways away from the heart of University Ave. but nonetheless very, Berkeley. This is an excellent spot to get your study on. There are plenty of tables and cozy seating available for you choose from while you connect to their complimentary wi-fi. The coffee is fantastic, and their breakfast burritos are even better. If I lived anywhere close to Berkeley I would come here at least once a week for their breakfast burritos. Clean bathrooms and friendly staff are the icing on the cake for this establishment.

Excellent coffee, sandwiches, and ambience! Highly recommend! I love any place that jams Mumford and Sons.

Really nice ambience and tasty breakfast sandwich and bagel. Handbrewed coffee and very authentic. However the wait always takes ridiculously long. They either need to hire more people or serve a little faster. It isn’t reasonable to wait over 20 minutes for a croissant, especially when they don’t even fry the egg but microwave it.

Quaint coffee shop located on the west side of University. The coffee is awesome. But the breakfast burrito is what will make me return. It was a huge portion filled with cheese and eggs, and I added bacon and avocado. Only ate half and I was stuffed!

Café Yesterday has turned me into a coffee snob! Coming from New York, although I appreciated a nice cup of coffee, any bodega coffee-water would suffice as long as it caffeinated me. Now that I live on the same block as Café Yesterday, there’s no way I can drink the sub-par stuff anymore! Aaron the owner is really dedicated to putting forward a great product, and he’s super knowledgeable about the process of roasting great beans. Come here often, and the staff will start to feel like your 2nd family. And they’re super dog friendly – big plus!

This is my spot. Coffee is awesome. Food is simple and delicious. Barristas are super cool and awesomely friendly. Ambiance is laid back, clean, open, and easy to find a seat. I hesitate to even write this for fear of it all of a sudden being overrun, but they deserve the hype. Seriously though, discovering this place resulted in an immediate increase in my weekly spending on coffee and a substantial rise in my croissant & egg consumption. Pro Tips: (1) You can order what you want online in advance, then they’ll text you when it’s ready — if you’re into such modern conveniences. (2) Get the breakfast sandwich.

Love this café, hate their internet connection. Do not depend on this place for an internet connection. Unfortunately between tons of students and staff streaming music, the connection is slow enough that you may not even connect to their router! Don’t get me wrong. Any café that displays vinyl and has a record player for the PA gets my love. However, come here to chill and read. Forget getting work on the web done here!

I love this place, very casual, the coffee and food are excellent. The Barista is hot stud! Free internet. The place is like your own living room with low decibel playing music. People working here are very friendly even the patrons, after all this is Berks!

Let me upgrade, ya! After the recent upgrades at Café Yesterday, I can’t get enough. Now roasting their own coffee and with a revamped menu, this previous butt-her face is the total package. Amazing coffee, delicious food, and now with air-conditioning(or at least some sort of new cooling system). Oh, technology! I’ve been wanting to write this review for the past couple months, but my final motivation came with today’s events, which showcased the kindness and fantastic customer service of the new staff, especially the ridiculously generous owner. I’ve been eating Café Yesterday’s breakfast sandwich(plus avocado and a side of mustard) at least 4 days a week for about a few weeks now, making me a regular. Every so often I will get a ridiculously rich and oh so nutty soy mocha, which definitely gives other cafes a run for their money. Yesterday, I ordered my sandwich online like I normally do. After the typical 15-minute wait, I went downstairs to pick it up. I even received a text confirmation 5 – 10 minutes prior that they were making the sandwich. When I went downstairs, I found out there was a computer glitch and no sandwich was being made. I had to run for an appointment and came back the next day(today) to ask if I could still get the sandwich. The staff were incredibly sweet, and the owner even threw in a free soy mocha! I love businesses like Café Yesterday who care about their regulars. Stop by, and let’s make Café Yesterday the new East Bay destination spot it deserves to be!

I generally really like coming to this café. Not only is it in walking distance from my apartment, but the staff is super friendly and the coffee is pretty damn good(albeit expensive, but so is every other café with good coffee for the most part!) I got a large hazelnut latte with skim milk which was stupidly good! My bf has had their coffee before but this most recent time had a hot chocolate. It was ok — more foam than chocolate. He has also gotten a breakfast croissant sandwich there once which was massive and really tasty too. All in all, I like the vibe here… dog friendly, people friendly :)

20 minutes to make an egg and cheese on a croissant with avocado slices, a tomato slice, and cheese. What the f?! Its Berkeley, its hipster, but does it mean it has to be that shit slow when it wasn’t that busy at 11 am on a Saturday morning? $ 6.50 for a sandwich that should take 10 minutes max to make. They have okay coffee but it is on the steeper end of the wallet.

I love the ambience of this place. It’s casual and slightly eclectic and comfortable. There are nice couches around the place for people to sit back and chill or tables and chairs for those that want to be serious and focused on their food or study ;-)) I stumbled across this place and whilst I did not stay for long loved it. I would happily come back here again. I felt too old for the place when I dropped in as it was full of students on laptops but that won’t stop me from going there ;-))

Café Yesterday drew me in with the standing sign noting they dispense verve coffee. lots of seating here. sammies, breakfast options also available. brew: verve coffee(L 2.60) –so silky smoooooth! –pricey? not for quality coffee drips: –all coffee options here use verve coffee beans –fast, friendly service.
