Consistently makes one of the best lattes in the city. Their breakfast items are all pretty tasty from what I’ve had(toasted 9-grain bread with butter and jam, egg white frittata, savory tarts, and best of all oatmeal pecan muffin).

Their menu sounds better than their food looks. But I had a plain latte which hit the spot. There was no extra charge for a flower design on top! It’s a lovely place and the employees are very friendly

I stopped by Flour & Co as a respite during a long walk and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have a few gluten-free treats on offer. I had one of their gluten-free muffins and a tea. I was unimpressed with their tea selection, however, I understand that tea is not their specialty. Their muffin was very good and I think I even bought a gluten-free cookie for the road.

This place is so so so so cute!!! I came here for breakfast with my friend, and it had just recently opened but I hadn’t heard much about it so I wasn’t sure as to what to expect. When I first walked in, I fell in love with the illustrations on the wall. On the wall, there was egg and butter with a speaking bubble stating that they go so well together and I thought that was so cute because I’m a huge baker. The place was really clean and there was plenty of seating. I got the breakfast pretzel sandwich and monkey bread. Although the pretzel breakfast sandwich was a bit oily, after dabbing off the oil, I thought it was very good! It was unique and the egg was super fluffy. The monkey bread was just average. I’ve only had monkey bread fresh out of the oven so I was a big disappointed that it was cold. It wasn’t too bad; it was sweet but the dollop of cream cheese on top helped lessen the sweetness. I definitely want to come back and try some of their other stuff!

Great place for food and coffee. Modern, spacious, excellent lighting! I think some of the two and three star reviews are not warranted. If you want an old Berkeley café, then why walk into a clearly modern place amd give it a bad review for being modern?

My husband and I try to come here as often as we can because we really enjoy the food and atmosphere. We usually order the same thing every time… a rhubarb or blackberry crumble muffin and the biscuit with butter and jam… because they’re sooo delicious! The Stumptown coffee is really good, too — and they even offer a punchout card for drinks, which is nice :) The staff always greets you with a smile and they never fail to be helpful. :) I agree with other reviewers about how great the ambiance is — it’s got a very open and spacious feel to it — and they do a wonderful job at keeping it spotless all the time! If you haven’t tried Flour & Co, you’re missing out on some delicious baked goods!

I’ve passed this place so many times and wanted to try it but sadly I’m always driving on the opposite side of the street. This day, I decided to U-turn :) The name alone was tantalizing me way before I walked in. I always use my handy dandy Unilocal app and pics to decide if I should walk in or not. It was a cool brisk Sunday morning and I thought I could eat… as if I would turn down food :) I ordered the french toast and orange juice. It was decadent and super sweet. Way to sweet for my taste for breakfast but nonetheless still very good and tasty. The orange juice was refreshing but in my opinion super expensive. The staff was kind and full of smiles. The food came out nice and warm on a cute little tray and ready to be eaten. I like this place and will definitely consider returning. My only suggestion for Flour & Co and this is just a personal request, to offer syrup :)

I really enjoy this place. I think many people still don’t know about it, so it’s fairly quiet in the late afternoons, which is nice for work, study or writing. I usually order espresso, and it comes with a cute little tiny cookie, which is a nice touch. Their biscuits are good from what I remember, their food seems a bit pricey for the size, but I’m not complaining since the coffee is good. :) The people working there have always been really friendly to me. If you don’t want to pay metered parking, you can walk down the cross street and park in one of the neighborhoods near by. Check it out! :)

I was compelled by the open kitchen that you can see when walking on University. I am attracted to places that tout butter, milk, and other oft-maligned ingredients as being truly sacred when it comes to making baked goods.(Vegans, don’t hit me!) But the«triple chocolate brownie»(or titled something similar) was full of non-advertised nuts… gahhhh…which for me personally is always a buzzkill. I’m sorry that I’ve not evolved to wanting nuts in my cake, but I know that this is one of those time-old things that you either like or you don’t. If I had known(label), I wouldn’t have ordered it. It is also $ 3.50 and pretty small for that price. And the cappuccino took about 15 minutes to come out. Nobody was before me in line, so I figured she was doing some sort of fancy foam art. Nope. Not even microfoam when it finally slid its way onto the counter. The place looks like it has highfalutin standards but doesn’t come through in the delivery.

I love how down-to-earth and fun Flour & Co. is. Every time I’ve come here, the baristas have been super friendly and helpful! Flour’s bakery goods and Stumptown coffee drinks are delicious. We’ve tried the egg pie, cortado, hot chocolate, and chai latte. Each drink is smooth and rich, which always seems to hit the spot. I would say that the drinks are a little above average, but not the best I’ve had. In my opinion, Flour’s best attribute is its layout and ambiance. With high ceilings, long wooden tables, and large windows looking out to University Street, I felt right at home. Adding to the cozy feel are cute mason jars filled with fresh flowers. Tables are comfortably spaced so you and your café compatriots can spread out without touching elbows. My guess is that Flour is meant to be a gathering space instead of a studying space — there is a noticeable scarcity of outlets. I’ve also noted how quickly the noise level can escalate with large groups of people. Nonetheless, if you have a well-charged laptop and come during the off hours in the early AM or late PM, you can catch a slice of quiet time at Flour and Co. Overall, a solid four-star place. See you at Flour next weekend! =)

The cutest little café in the entire world! Its directly across the bus stop(51B, University & Acton). Its beautiful and spacious and well-lit and a wonderful place to hang out! Their pastries are delicious, the chai latte is an A+, and the service is incredible — Especially the red-haired cashier(Nikki? Natalie? Nancy?)!

location: Metered street parking is pretty easy along university, or you can turn onto acton to find more. Inside is gorgeous! It’s bright and cute and it smells like strong coffee. service: The people working there are really friendly and patient(sorry I always ‘hmmmmmm’ there for like 5 minutes). food: I love their savory biscuit or the pimiento biscuit. Have them heat it up for you and it will be melty cheesy goodness. I can’t wait to come back here when I have more than 10 minutes on the meter so I can enjoy a nice breakfast. cute and quiet café with delicious baked goods!

I stop by Flour & Co. at least a few times a week on the way to my office at Strawberry Creek. Just a few minutes from the North Berkeley Bart Station, this coffee shop café is a necessary stop for all caffeinated and breakfast needs. They cater to all, with gluten-free, vegan, and veg options aplenty. Flour & Co. makes a mean egg sandwich, and they also have a variety of grab-and-go cooler items freshly made and perfect for any time of day — granola, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, kale salads, and quinoa medleys. For lunch, they have a selection of fresh paninis and soups; definitely a pairing I indulge in when I need something filling and warm that’ll nourish and please. The atmosphere is very mellow yet lively. It’s bright, natural lighting compliments its friendly staff, and this makes for the kind of place you could spend a couple hours working, without feeling quarantined as is the case in so many coffee shops. It’s amazing they have a customer loyalty punch card, because I rack up the light roasts and lattes here more than any other East Bay coffee shop. Needless to say, since this opened up a few months back, my coworkers and I have been devoted customers and will continue to visit for our cup a’ Joe and paninis on the regular.

Finally made it to this area and got several goodies for me and my wife. I had loved a savory turnover with roasted pepper from SF store but that wasn’t available when I went in. Got a ham/cheese savory item for her and she liked it. She also thought the chocolate hazelnut bread had good flavor but was too sweet. I would also say that about the other baked goods — the pear frangipani pop tart, the frosted pumpkin cake and the lemon poppyseed muffin. If I’m in the neighborhood I’ll pop in for savory items.

I had passed by this place so many times while they were under construction so I was super excited to go check it out once they opened(I feel like I’d seen the name before somewhere in SF?). Upon walking in, I was instantly struck by the pure CUTE-ness of this place. I’m talking Instagram/Pinterest-worthy-from-every-angle type cute. Coffee and breakfast pastries were also amazing as well! Breakdown below: Macchiato: Served in the cutest little cup with a little biscuit on the side. Chai latte: Great flavor with delicate foam. Also comes with a biscuit! Mocha muffin: Maybe I just haven’t met the right muffin, but damned if I wasn’t blown away by the AMAZINGLY crisp but light top layer of the muffin. I’m not talking about the kind of crispness that comes from a generous layer of sanding sugar being baked(which is tasty too, but sometimes a little too sweet for me). This crispy layer was crunchy without being too hard, and the actual muffin underneath was delicious chocolatey. =] Pimento biscuit: This one took a little while to get served because it had to be warmed up first but boy was it worth the wait! I had originally come in with somewhat of a sweet tooth(hence the mocha muffin) but I couldn’t help but fall in love with the warm, smooth, melted cheese and the spicy kick of this biscuit. It was the perfect portion for someone who wanted more than coffee for breakfast, but didn’t wanna go all out on a full eggs/sausage/pancakes type deal. Buttery goodness with a fine crisp crumb from being freshly warmed… this item is truly a winner that I will definitely be back to have again and again! Also can’t wait to come back to this place to check out lunch!

Flour & Co is a sight for inquiring foodies looking for something new under the sun/moon. noticed egg pies, cold brewed stumptown coffee, premade egg sammies, interesting cake slices, pastries, etc. brew: stumptown coffee(m2.5) –nice smoothness, and bold flavored. eats: apple cider bread:(3.75) –yep, really tasted like apple cider, bread crumbles easily. –a better value than various slices of toasts seen recently crumbs: –thought i was in a candy store with all these delicious eats all would have been excellent choices. apple cider bread filled a niche. –cashiers patient, courteious. –a definite return sometime… –lots of seating –across from ledgers’ liquor, shell station?

Flour & Co. is the perfect addition to this section of University Ave. After an impossibly long period of waiting since the announcement of their Berkeley expansion, I had completely forgotten all about it. Luckily, I was stopped at the red light out front, saw they were open for business, and and snagged the closest parking spot. I’ll be honest… I’m rarely in a position to pass by a bakery without temptation. Not to mention, one that had previously thrilled my tastebuds. It was definitely on. The space is everything this block so desperately needs. A sleek, modern interior with an element of, dare I say, coziness. The seating is mainly comprised of community tables, though there are some individual tables for the silent types glued to their laptop screens. It would be a nice place to catch up with a friend or bang out some work for a short period of time. It’s evident that the staff was still getting into the swing of things, but the three women involved in my transaction had kind spirits and exhibited patience with the customers. The selection of treats is impressive, all fresh and desirable looking in the sparkly glass display case. I proceeded with caution because they use a lot of nuts in their kitchen. I’m ok with testing my limits, but I can say definitively that I would have bought more baked goods had they not been touching others containing peanuts and cashews. For those who choose to be wheat free, you’ll be pleased to find a lot to choose from. After a thorough browse, I picked out a bacon cheddar biscuit, a maple pecan biscuit, a nutella banana toaster pastry, and a serving of their bread pudding. I brought them by for my parents and we all agreed that the biscuits are the draw. Buttery, luscious, and incredibly flavorful. The nutella banana toaster pastry had an excellent crust and a rich filling, very heavy on the hazelnut. The only dud was the brown sugar vanilla bread pudding. As a true devotee of bread pudding, I can attest to the texture of this particular serving to be intensely inedible. Never having had Stumptown coffee before, I was pleasantly surprised. They also have a large refrigerated case of alternative beverages to their coffee and tea menu and a smaller case dedicated to doughs and pie shells to take home for your own baking acquisitions. Across the board, the offerings are a little pricier than some of my local favorites, but the quality is up to par. If you’re looking for a relaxing place to stuff your face with biscuits or tend to some work tasks with the aid of a potent latte, Flour & Co. is an apt choice.

This is a 3.5 star that I’m rounding up on «benefit of the doubt». We’ve been waiting for these guys to open for a long while. They pulled a VERY soft opening but word of mouth and a great location means people still took notice. It’s very much a bakery rather than a restaurant, and the vast majority of the menu is pre-made. Know this. For pre-made food, it’s quite good. The pretzel sandwiches are quite tasty and my wife has enjoyed the frittatas. The one trick of the pretzel buns is that they break apart, so if you’re expecting to eat it like a sandwich, don’t. You’ll be wanting a fork or a lot of napkins. The muesli was iffy. It was entirely edible in the way that leftover cereal is always sorta ok, but it wasn’t what I hoped for. As others have mentioned the clean and tasteful new décor is the first and last thing you’ll notice, and the place is laid out well so that the furnishings serve the practical needs as much as aesthetic ones. I did not expect the place to feel so roomy. As the baked goods go, we were very pleased by out ranger cookie, and will be wanting to try more of the desserts as time goes by. But we’re mostly just glad they finally opened!

This place is so cute! My sister and I came here on a Saturday morning, hungry and ready to try the one place we were DYING to go to after months and months of waiting! The area: On University Ave., you have to find meter parking, but if you get lucky on a block left or right of University, you can find street parking. Inside: bar seating facing windows and a few bigger communal tables that are great for studying/staying at for a couple hours if need be. WHATWEGOT: 1) Whole wheat english breakfast sandwich(with ham, eggs, and cheese): Wow! I love the house-made muffin! It’s not your average yeasted muffin, but something a bit more dense like a biscuit. I’m a fan! The sandwich wasn’t huge, but was the perfect amount for me. Side note: you can choose whole wheat or regular muffin, and ham or bacon. 2) Pretzel breakfast sandwich with kale, eggs, and cheese: a bit bigger than the muffin sandwich, I have to say this is pretty good too! The kale was a bit roasted, so you could really taste it with every bite. If I had to choose between the two, I’d get the muffin again! We were both pretty filled up and weren’t even hungry 3 – 4 hours later. I know I only talked about 2 things, but there are SO many options here! My sister and I had wide eyes, wondering what we should get! Luckily there wasn’t really a line behind us so we got to look for a bit at what they had. They also have another section filled with chilled muffin dough, cold salads, and drinks if you want to pick some stuff up for later! Service/people behind the counter were friendly as well. Can’t wait to go back and try more stuff!
