Wow, I’ve never experienced poorer customer service in my life. I ordered two ice creams in cups since my girlfriend just had her wisdom teeth out and an order of fries. They gave me one in a cone, the wrong flavor and when I told them they had the order wrong they pointed to a sign saying all orders are final as an excuse for messing up my order. The bag my fries were in ripped land in French fries and ketchup all over the floor, I had to ask for a new bag and they didn’t offer to give me more ketchup. I won’t be back.

Don’t order the pastrami burger, pastrami is burnt and was told that is the foster freeze way, and the burger cost $ 8 never going again.

They are nice, but in the last six months the ice cream cone price has almost doubled, and the serving size has gotten smaller. Not gonna pay more than $ 2 for a junior size FF cone.

Foster’s is always good! This one is a little less convenient than the one in Alameda, but since that one closed it’s what we’ve got! Beware, it is cash only.

For their ice cream cones only : I love it ! It’s really good on a hot day. It’s gonna be messy especially if you get it dipped in chocolate(which you should do). It’s a nice cheap way to treat your taste buds :)

Driving down University, we passed this place several times, since it was near where we were staying. The look of the building is old and small but we all noticed the one sign, «ICECREAM.» Everyone loves a delicious frozen treat, especially on vacation! We decided to stop one night and try Fosters Freeze. For starters the customer service of this place was just alright. There was no welcome from the workers and an Asian man behind the counter was hollering back and forth with a customer about messing up their order. Not a great first impression. The women behind the counter that handed out our treats were pleasant. On the plus side the ice cream treats were delicious! And the portioning was huge for the price. Being the sweet tooth that I am I wanted to go big and get the large, but decided on the small which was more than enough! If we are in town in the future and stay nearby, we may go back but I wouldn’t be against finding a new frozen treat location that offers better service.

It’s kinda strange I’ve never dropped by here after seeing it for years and years. I’ve eaten at the Vacaville spot before and today decided to drop by here. I kept it simple and just ordered two vanilla ice cream cones dipped in chocolate. They were delicious! The ice cream was great and the chocolate on top went well with it. I do have a few negatives though. The place is super long in the tooth. Every Foster Freeze I’ve seen is still clinging onto an older look, but they definitely need to start remaking these places. They only accept cash too! Which is really lame since its 2015 cmon get with the program. Overall, I didn’t try the burgers, but the ice cream is delicious!

ok, this place is good. if you want fast food, this is good fast food. they have veggie burgers too. and this is GREAT fudge. if you’re leaving a bad review– have you tried the hot fudge sundae? you really can’t beat it. you can’t beat it. nice soft-serve ice cream, which you can’t find most places. a chocolate-dipped cone. hello! this is place is great at what it does. you eat good fast food in your car, that’s it. CASHONLY. (i think someone said the area is sketchy, but it’s university ave in berkeley, you’ll really be okay. you can park right next to the place, go wait in your car then.)

Cash only. Who’s does that still? I’m disappointed to say the least, was really looking forward to a mud pie twister.

You won’t hear organic, artisan, grass-fed or other foodie-fad type terms at a place like this too often. There used to be a lot more Bay Area locations dating back to the days before all the big chain places took over, although SoCal still has a few, and this was(and still is) the place for diner/drive-in style burgers and snacks. This spot is cash only, and burger/fries/drink and a sweet treat after will run you $ 10 or so. Most locations have some indoor seating but not here. Be sure to grab an extra napkin or two as these burgers have always been on the juicy side, especially the Boss with bacon and onion rings. Good chili fries too. And there’s always the Twister blended soft serve, about a dozen flavored shakes(banana rocks!) and dipped cones when you’re still hungry.

Delicious dirt and worms twister! Chocolate and vanilla swirl with crushed oreos. What more could you want? More than 2 gummy worms is what… It’d be a 5 star if there were more worms.

Night and Day difference from the one in Alameda. The customer service here is way better. Quick, hot and tasty. If you come at lunch it gets busy and if it’s during the week up have to tolerate the bad ass kids from the school across the street!

Basic no frills hamburger stand with good prices and minimal wait. Lots of options including a variety of milkshakes and other desserts. Sometimes you don’t want truffles with your hamburger like all the hipster joints popping up(they are delicious also however…) Old school old California hamburger stand to quickly satisfy your cravings! Minus a star because no seating at this joint and because the food is basic(but in a good way)

I’ve been going to Foster’s Freeze for 18 years. But in December they changed their fries. And I am beyond disappointed. I usually just go there to get a meal and get large fries, but their new fries suck. I went and asked about the fries, and they said that that’s the only type of fries(crinkled ones) they are going to have. So sad. Fyi, the fries made you foster. …the ice cream is still awesome no matter the price!

This is on a close corner and so I’ve been here a few times for a dipped cone. It is as expected, quality-wise. However, they are exceptionally stingy and expensive. I don’t mind getting a small cone, nor do I mind paying almost $ 3 for one — but paying almost $ 3 for what is supposed to be a small, but is almost always a junior, just ruins the experience. They even have«sample» cones in the window for sizing, so it’s not like we can’t all do an immediate visual assessment and find it lacking. I thought at first it might just be the particular person serving the cone, but no, it’s happened every time.

I actually went to a Foster’s Freeze in the middle of nowhere in Central CA(on the drive to SoCal), but there is no way I’m going to find that random spot on Unilocal so I’m posting for my local branch. I got the classic burger with onion rings for ~$ 5, and both were as decent as those of any other fast food joint. However, I would suggest Foster’s Freeze for the ice cream, because my friend got a «small» cone and the portion was quite generous. The savory items are okay, but I like the feeling of supporting an old fashioned and purely Cali chain.

If you want simple, tasty hamburgers and creamy, smooth chocolate dipped Ice Cream Cones, this is the place for you! I’m from Oxnard, California — SoCal, and we have but one foster freeze left in our county. Fosters was always a childhood favorite, so I was very excited to see one here up north. I got a classic cheeseburger, was pleased to find it tasted exactly as I remember. I’m moving in nearby soon, and I’ll be sure to visit this old fashion hamburger stand often

Foster’s is at the bottom of my list when it comes to getting my burg on in Berkeley. Which is really unfortunate because this place is super great on the food and service fronts. They’ve got dank shakes, great burgers and perfect fries — it’s everything you could ever want from a walk-up burger shack with no seating. Still, it’s pretty easy to forget that the Berkeley Foster’s Freeze exists. It only takes cash and is more expensive than Nations or riding up to Pinole for In-N-Out. Combined with a lack of on-site dining space, the words«hey, let’s go to Foster’s!» have fallen into disuse for my regular feasting crew. Give ‘em a try if you’re into burgers as much as I am(read: more into burgers than normal people should be). With summer just getting started, Foster’s is a good choice if you’re riding down University and want to bring a peach milkshake down to the waterfront or something. Check it.

My family and I have been stopping by this places for many years now. We almost always have their dessert items. I absolutely LOVE their sundaes here! The items, in my opinion, are reasonably priced and their food tastes great! Great customer service too!
