The guacamole is not fresh and chunky. I guess it’s not bad, but it’s definitely not the greatest.

Not the best burrito, but it wasn’t the worst. I ordered a «Super» Carnitas Burrito with guacamole(and I’m using quotes because Gordos only has 2 sizes: «regular,» which is actually a small, so it’s not really filling for most guys who aren’t children, and the«Super» which is bigger than the small). The burrito I ordered was dry and wasn’t really tasty. Luckily I came on a night where it wasn’t too busy, so I didn’t have to wait too long(unlike the usual). They charge extra for everything, like sour cream and guacamole, and the place is really cramped with hardly any seating, so it’s probably best to order take-out. Customer service also isn’t that good, probably because they’re always so busy and are the only burrito option nearby. I think this place greatly benefits from the fact that there isn’t another burrito place in the Elmwood area. If there was, I’d probably give this place only 2 stars.

I’m a huge burrito lover. Since I’ve moved to Oakland Hills/Montclair — Gordo’s has become my go to spot for best burrito. Give credit where credit is due. I recommend ½ Carne Asada ½ Carnitas super on Spinach.

Great carnitas burrito, first time here, came at 11:00, beat the rush. Nice you can watch them make the burrito — adjust what you want. Would be nice if they had horchata or fresh squeezed orange juice. Can’t have it all. ..

It breaks my heart to have to write this but Im appalled at the level of service and treatment I received tonight. Ive been chowing down on Gordos since i was in middle school in SF(im now 37) and while the College location has always lacked the quality of its sister restaurants across the bay, I live 2 blocks away and its an easy fix for something I am familiar with and generally delivers. After 20+ years of loyalty, tonight was probably the last time Ill ever go back. Why? I waited in line over 45 minutes to order 1 burrito. At 5:30pm, on Memorial day weekend MONDAY. Are you kidding me?! There were maybe 10 groups ahead of me and it was an hour wait for good but not AMAZING fast food mexican. Granted, this location is always slow but wow, tonight was on a whole new level. When I approached the gentleman at the register about my discontent — who was clearly in the process of being newly trained, which is another matter entirely — I was met with blank stares and rudeness. When I called later to log my discontent with a general manager, I was told they were busy and I’d have to call back, maybe the next day around 4pm. Huh? Where is the accountability? I’m sorry, but this to me is unacceptable. I too work in the customer service field and I’d never treat an unhappy customer the way I was treated, especially one who has long time devotion to the brand. Is the food good? Yes. But my god, 45 minute wait for a burrito? No, not that good, you’ll be better served at a nearby Taco Bell. I wish this had not been my experience but as of now, I am no longer a College Ave Gordo’s fan.

Would have given 5 stars but seems like the quality has gone down a touch in the last year or so. Carne asada was always my favorite but not as tasty as it used to be. Still will go by when I’m in the area for a decent burrito.

I grew up coming here every Sunday for years. I love the quesidilla– a little oily, but has cheesy goodness all over it. I like the carnitas and carne aside. The super burritos are pretty huge. Anyway, I have since grown to prefer other Mexican restaurants, but Gordo will always hold a special place in my heart.

Times have changed. If the Burrito Nazi(the best) isn’t working, it’s one long waitfest while you see what used to be a 5 minute line turn into a 30 minute line. Tonight I had to leave when after 25 minutes I hadn’t moved. Idk about you guys, but I already donate my time to charity outside of fast food lines. Really bad. I can’t see coming back unless I find out I’m actually 10 years younger than I thought.

Best carnitas ever. This is my favorite burrito restaurant in the world. The best location is the Albany Gordos on solano but they’re all really good. Take your burritos to go and go watch the sunset at the Berkeley marina or Indian rock. Don’t forget to add hot sauce!!!

Terrible staff. They won’t take advance phone orders for deliveries. So I had to wait in a long line. I showed them my app order and they refused to meet the order. It called for two super burritos but they gave me regular size. What type of 3rd world crap is this place? Communication is crap and they refuse to provide adequate service. Shut this place down already.

Quesadilla is super delicious! Tortilla is slightly oily and perfectly cheesy = PERFECTION! Highly recommend carnitas they are the best! Love their Super burrito, it’s just around an extra dollar and you get so much more, plus CHEESE!!!: 12 inch tortilla, meet, rice, beans, cheese, salsa. Hot pressed tortilla with melted cheese, stuffed with your choice of meat and fillings:) YESSS I’m all for it Food: 5⁄5 Price: 5⁄5 Ambience: 4⁄5(small restaurant, but it’s super clean!) Service: 5⁄5 Favorites: * Chicken super burrito($ 6.25) + sour cream($ 0.45) — tender and moist chicken, sour cream makes it even better * Carnitas quesadilla on flour tortillas($ 5.25) — CHEESYANDMEATY, what else can I say?!! Other orders: * Beef super burrito($ 7.05) — beef is slightly dry, I’ll give it another chance next time

Tasteless. Chicken is tasteless. Cheese is tasteless. Sour cream is tasteless. Beef has some taste. Guac has a little taste. This place has been tasteless for ten+ years. Just tried it again and again, is tasteless.

I love Gordo. It is my go to for a calorie-packed, tasty burrito. Their green spicy sauce is absolutely delicious. If you feel extra gluttonous, I recommend getting extra cheese. They melt it before putting the rest of filling in, so it fills the entire burrito with cheesy goodness. While I find all the Gordo locations consistent in quality, the staff at this particular one is especially nice. They listen to your order and actually want to make you happy and get it right.

This isn’t the same place I remember. The steak burritos used to be pretty spot on, but my last trip here didn’t even compare to the memories of salivating over their carne asada burritos. I remember actually tasting the meat, and every other ingredient. I would venture out here alone when I was hungry and didn’t want to wait for friends. Maybe it was just my college stomach that didn’t have such an acquired taste as I would like to believe I have now, but it’s now more akin to the microwave burritos you find at 7-eleven.

This place fucking sucks! I am never coming here again they keep fucking up my order and when I repeat hey i dont want hot sauce they get attitude and shit. In the past month we have went 4 times and each time they have screwed up our order. They mislabeled burritos twice, put hot sauce on every single time even tho I say no hot sauce and just straight up gave us the wrong items. The dude making food needs to quit texting and do his damn job. Write the shit down if you cant remember what I am telling you. The last straw is when he gave me attitude for pointing out his mistake. I have been coming here for TWENTYFIVE years and have never had a problem. Spending over 30 $ a pop for some screwed up items and attitude for your fuck up? Man fuck you your attitude and your shitty ass burritos!

Stopped by here today, trying it for the first time. At first glance I thought the tacos were kind of pricey compared to other places but when I sat down and really looked at what I got, I realized they were huge. I ordered one beef and one chicken taco with just onions and cilantro. the way I like my tacos even though the man offered me beans. The chicken actually tasted better than the beef which is rare for me but I was happy about it! It was a little dry for me, I didn’t have them put the tomato salsa on my tacos because I can’t stand that kind of salsa(looked like a pico de gayo type). I didn’t see any other salsas while I was in there so I could have been missing out. Boyfriend ordered a plain bcr with sour cream and enjoyed it a lot. I’d definitely return if I’m ever in the area again and was craving a good chicken soft taco!

What burrito spot does not have a salsa bar? Gordo is a chain that can be found in multiple cities. There isn’t anything special about the burrito. It’s a quick, cheap means of getting your burrito fix. The burritos I’ve had were always dry. Hence, the need for a salsa bar. I’ve tried chicken and carne aside with the same result. The size of the burrito is about the same as most other taquerias. Parking is also difficult around here. I’d pass and try a different spot.

Same as the telegraph location. I’ve only had tacos here recently(though I think i got a burrito once in High school), but they are pretty good. I like their chicken tacos – sometimes the more authentic mexican places like this dont have good chicken, but here they do. What i didnt like was their service. I came in here with a friend and they were very very rude and unfriendly to both of us. Granted, we had just come from Beer Olympcis and were slightly inebriated and wearing team uniforms, so we probably looked like idiots, but we were in no way acting belligerent or even loud. Either, definitely better than most Mexican places in Berkeley, as the selection is awful. However, Tacos Sinaloa just opened on telegraph and it is far superior in terms of just about everything – food(amazing tacos), service, quality.

Whenever I’m in Berkeley I try to squeeze in a stop at Gordo’s. I love their crispy tacos! There’s something special about the way they dip the corn tortilla in oil, put it on the grill, melt the cheese, then add the carne asada(or whatever meat you want) and the other toppings. They are so deliciously crispy on the outside, but not so much that it cuts your mouth and falls apart. Everything’s so juicy, not greasy, in spite of them dipping it in oil :-) Yum!
