I tried the shwarma wrap and was advised to try the chicken substitute. There could have been much more filling, it felt like I was eating mostly the wrap. The side salad was a decent portion but I didn’t feel particularly satisfied.

I need to come back for more! While at Herbivore, I ordered the lemon penne pasta. The sauce was creamy and tangy, and it was topped with beautifully cooked portobello mushrooms. As a non-vegetarian, I wasn’t sure what to expect when ordering food at a restaurant of this kind, but the food was delicious even without any animal products. The menu is huge, with many different cuisines from Mexican to Thai to choose from. Also, the drink menu had great prices and looked mouth watering. Very excited to go back to try the drinks and the lasagna!

My favorite dish is the ramen! It is delicious. I also like that this place is vegan, but doesn’t emphasize it, so it feels like any other restaurant. Great lunch spot.

The food and menu were really good and there was a ton of options which is really refreshing for a vegan. The portions were giant and the salads come in these huge bowls that might even be enough for two. The food was tasty but I found it to be slightly heavy and we all left with stomach aches after having dinner here. The reason I only gave three stars was for the service, which is very slow, there was one waitress for basically the whole restaurant and the other people working there were quite young and inexperienced and came across as a bit rude and inattentive. I would recomend this restaurant if you are looking for a reasonably priced vegan restaurant with lots of options that will be sure to please vegans and non vegans alike.

I used to love this place, but it’s not that great compared to other vegan restaurants. I got the lentil loaf, and the red sauce was too sour. The kale on the side was sour too. Seems like someone decided to overcompensate flavor by adding lots of lemon. Anyway, I’m disappointed. I used to be a regular customer here 3 years ago, but not anymore.

Stopped in spontaneously on an evening walk when we saw that they had vegan coconut ice cream milkshakes! The homemade ginger ale is also top notch! We can’t wait to come back and try some of their entrée and other offerings.

Pretty good food and great selection. I had a bbq tofu sandwich and side salad with their house ginger ale. The 2 stars are for the horrid service. I had to physically get up to ask for the check and we waited about 5 – 10 just to order our food. If coming here wasn’t already baked into the night’s plans time wise, we would’ve left.

Unilocal describes a two-star rating as «Meh. I’ve experienced better» and that’s exactly how I feel about Herbivore. It saddens me to write a less than glowing review for a vegan restaurant, but alas, I feel the need to do so. I’ve been to Herbivore dozens of times by now since I went vegan over a year ago. The food is a hit or miss, as many have mentioned. Breakfast tends to be pretty good. The main reason for my two-star rating is the service though. I came in today, a Sunday afternoon, to pick up an order. I made the order over the phone with the girl doing to-go’s that day, and she said it would be ten minutes, without repeating or verifying my order. I came in maybe 15 mins after making the call, and preceded to wait another 15 minutes to get the *first* part of my order. First, The girl who took my order over the phone gave me a receipt with the sandwich I ordered, but there wasn’t a slice of olallieberry pie on the itemized receipt which I had asked for over the phone. She forgot to put it on, so she made another receipt for the pie which I also signed. Then when I finally got my order, she gave it to me without the pie. SMH. I had to remind her about it. With both my items, I walked out without thoroughly checking the order — my mistake. The sandwich was supposed to come with cheese — which I paid extra for — and it was missing. The sandwich was supposed to come with two sides– which I ALSO paid for — it only came with one. The pie was supposed to be olallieberry, instead it was something else. Rhubarb maybe? Either way not what I ordered. I never write negative reviews but honestly I’m pissed off at how awful and negligent the service can be here, especially on this particular occasion. What makes me especially mad is that I tipped the girl that got basically my entire order wrong, AND she never even apologized for it or tried to make it up in any way. SO careless. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for years, and these are all EASILY avoidable mistakes, mostly just do to sheer carelessness. Make sure you find out the ACTUAL ticket times for to-go items, don’t just say«ten minutes» cause that’s what you’re used to and you don’t care if it’s accurate or not. At least apologize after forgetting an item the customer has asked and paid for — TWICE. And having almost the entire order be incorrect? Come on. Get it together, Herbivore. I suggest the current management start giving a crap and paying more attention to their employees’ service, or else they’re going to lose the only loyal customer base they have. Teach them how to put a wait on when it gets busy(it was busy on this occasion and there was a guy there while I was waiting who was angry that his entire family’s order had arrived while he was left waiting for his until everyone else was finished), teach your servers, ESPECIALLY those that do to-go orders, to check ticket times before quoting some random-ass time, and teach them to CHECKORDERS before handing them off to customers. These are the BASICS of decent service.

I enjoyed the food! It was delicious… so much that I think I can bring my carnivore friends lol. I ordered the cheese steak sandwich and it was ridiculous close to the animal version. I also got chillicheese fries and a Vanilla shake. Everything was tasty and great quality. I even got a sample of the blue berry-banna milkshake and that was hella good too… will be returning very soon. The service was decent… the waiter was very friendly and helpful.

The service was fine. The food was sub-par. The worst was the«macaroni and cheese». It had the consistency of glue and the flavor of an overpowering amount of nutritional yeast. I had the ravioli. Good sauce but the ravioli themselves were nothing special, no texture or nothing interesting about the flavor. The grilled vegetables came with good dipping sauces but were both over and underdone, blackened but not tender. My husband was the only one happy with what he got, I think it was a Vietnamese sandwich if I remember. Anyways, we eat out a lot at exclusively vegetarian restaurants but won’t be coming back to Herbivore.

Huge menu, tons of options, happy staff, quieter venue. Awesome! I was skeptical because it was so empty at 1pm on Saturday. I didn’t think that boded well. My expectations were pleasantly exceeded! The four of us shared the cauliflower coconut soup, falafel wrap, quinoa salad, green salad and gf pizza. I seriously should have saved room for dessert but our meals were too delicious!

Lovely all vegan restaurant. I went with the shawarma wrap with grilled potatoes & avocado additions. I was going to have the wrap with grilled seitan yet my server recommended the vegan soy«chicken» instead so that is what I opted for. I also had a side of potato salad. The wrap was flavorful & the potato salad was nice yet the portions of the wrap could have been bigger as I have a pretty hearty appetite. The menu is quite extensive so will be back & plan to order the tempeh Reuben next time.

I was so excited about this place! I waited for weeks to come here because of the beautiful breakfast pictures. I drove around for 30 minutes to find a park but it was okay because I was excited. One of the guys at the bar is really kind and friendly. I should have sat in his section. The food was decent as far as vegan fare goes but I hear breakfast is their specialty. I arrived too late to try it but my beans and rice were decent. The mock chicken was tasty and well seasoned but seemed a lite bit less than homemade. The service was just slow. All in all about an hour and a half from when I sat down until I finally got the check. It took a really long time to get a menu or be attended to though the food came out quickly. But at the end of the meal my cupcake had a hair in it. That was the deterring factor. The manager was nice enough to take it off. I really wanted to come back for breakfast but I can see myself fighting for parking for this. I think they are trying to make it in Berkeley, which isn’t easy and are short on staff. It’s hard to find good vegan places to support and if the service was upgraded I would definitely come back. If you decide to come the food is something vegans and non vegans will enjoy but plan your timing.

4 stars for the food, the service was a bit slow and awkward We ordered the French toast with home fries, trail mix pancakes, & banana pancakes. We took a veggie burger and falafel to go. The French toast was delicious and the home fries were great and had lots of flavor. My fiancé ordered the pancakes and was very satisfied. veggie burger was delicious, falafel was okay maybe it’s because I ate it a couple hours later? It was pretty dry but I appreciate that it wasnt fried. Delicious and I would definitely go back !

So it’s literally storming outside. This nice elderly couple come in for a date night and they’re told that they can only get food to go because they’re closing in half an hour. They deny them a sit down experience because their kitchen closes at 11PM and its 10:30PM. I get that the staff probably likes to leave as close to 11PM as possible, but give me a break. I’ve been very luke warm on the service here but this is the straw that broke the camels back for me. Denying an old couple on date night a sit down experience. Last time I’ll be there.

My experience at Herbivore Ok so when I got in they seated us after we stood They’re for awhile then we where put at a reserved table, keep in mind we didn’t reserve a table, and were left with no menus for awhile, once we got them our experience was nice. So… I think the food was amazing, the employees we’re nice, but this one employee, maybe the manager, took on too much and wasn’t handling it too well while other employees were not busy.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have more good reviews so I’m taking time to encourage all vegans to check it out!!! It’s sooooooo delicious I brought my brother who recently converted to vegan and he loved it as well! We got the cheese steak & curry crepes & chili cheese fries. I literally can’t wait to come back. I’ve also tried the pesto ravioli, chicken sandwich and nachos before also amazing! The servers are always friendly as well! Check them out!!!

I have a sensitive stomach and a lot of food will irritate it, especially all sorts of vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised to be able to eat lots of different varieties of food that were all delicious! The chili cheese fries were tasty and on the sweet side. The french fries aren’t crispy and they were the same potatoes that were in my red curry. The star of my dinner here was the banana blueberry shake. I’m lactose intolerant and the milkshake section of every menu has been pretty much off-limits to me my whole life, and it totally blew my mind when I realized that I could have a shake since I was at a vegan restaurant. Yum!
