The green curry chicken(a la carte) keeps me coming back: the vegetables are nicely balanced with the curry. It’s delicious when poured over the rice or even slurped up by itself. The yellow curry is pretty good(or so I’m told — I love the green curry that much more, so I can’t personally vouch for it). The lunch special is a decent deal with nice selections; by its nature it’s a little sloppier than the a la carte options, but look past that to appreciate a tasty and filling lunch. No, it’s not a fabrication plant cleanroom in here. But Berkeley tap water should be good enough to drink(your call on this); running it through an additional filter(which as of today looks pretty shiny and new) is a bonus. The plates and silverware are pretty clean, and that’s good enough for me.

I ordered the Pad Khee Mao(their menu omits the Pad) When I got home I was excited to dive in but when I opened the take out box it was not the same recipe I was accustomed to. I even took the time to look up the recipe on the Internet to find out if I was right or wrong. Well sadly, I was right. No chili, little basil. Full disclosure, it was still edible and not bad(not great either.) I also treated myself to a Thai iced tea. $ 3 for 16 ounces. That is a ridiculous price. It is also impossible to sit on the stool lining the right side without blocking the entrance(or no one can get to the back)

The food here is bland, but it’s fairly cheap and not greasy. The green curry chicken and yellow curry chicken taste good and come with a nice portion size for lunch. If you’re getting the lunch special, then the red rice tastes pretty good, but I thought it was not really worth the extra money. Things I stay away from: the basil chicken didn’t really taste like basil and lacked flavor in general. I ordered the eggplant tofu once, and the eggplant was undercooked. What I really like about Jasmine Thai is that, like some of the other restaurants around Euclid, they provide large trays of food for nearby events on campus. It’s very easy to get vegetarian options(green/yellow curry tofu) and even vegan options(pad thai without egg). They also provide free rice and utensils.

The food tasted over heavy and felt like that they added a lot of artificial flavor to hide the actual freshness of the meat and vegetables…

IMPORTANTINFOFORVEGETARIANS: This place considers both seafood and chicken to be vegetarian. If you are looking for something that has neither(in other words a true vegetarian dish), you have to go Vegan. The guy didn’t tell me about their unusual definition of vegetarian until after he already served me the food. That being said, the food isn’t that great. There are a lot of way better Thai places that are about the same price within a few blocks. I’d go to one of those. I got the eggplant tofu(which btw has oyster sauce and some other seafood stuff in it), and green curry(vegan) with red rice. The red rice might have been the best thing about the whole dish… Definitely do not plan to go back.

The Pad Thai was terrible and pricey. I mean if you’re a thai restaurant, shouldn’t you at least get that right. With the addition of chicken, the Pad Thai came out to be $ 9 and there was no sauce, no veggies except bean sprouts. The chicken tasted like someone literally just dumped them in hot water and sprinkled them on top of the noodles. Their lunch special seems ok but it’s just your average chinese buffet looking thing. I came here for thai food and was severely disappointed.

My desk being on the North side of campus, Jasmine Thai has become my go-to place for a quick lunch around campus. I usually order the lunch special for $ 7 – 9, which includes white or(healthier) red rice plus a choice of 1, 2, or 3 items between 6 to 7 items(green/yellow/red curry, son-in-law eggs, eggplant-tofu, pad thai). I find all of these combos pretty yummy. While the place is small and modest, and can get very crowded during lunch break, the service is always quick even at peak times, the staff is friendly, and the food is tasty. Jasmine Thai is also among the healthier options on Euclid.

I had never eaten here before during my time at Cal. It was okay. Probably a decent place to get takeout and has a lot of vegan options. It’s small, its kind of dirty. They pour tap water under the filter for the«filtered» water. I probably wouldn’t go back.

This place is super underrated but it has way better food than most Thai places on Southside! It’s a super hole-in-the-wall restaurant but my experience has always been on point.(IT’S NOTINNORTHSIDEASIANGHETTO). I think most people don’t know about this place because it’s further up Euclid instead of in the North Side Asian Ghetto. It gets surprisingly crowded around lunchtime. A+ for having seating inside!(There’s about 10ish tables or so because the place is still pretty small.) &THEYACCEPTCREDITCARD. All of the Asian restaurants in NS Asian Ghetto is cash only, which can be pretty frustrating around lunchtime if you don’t have cash on you! (+) Garlic Shrimp and Artichoke! Better than most shrimp stir-fry dishes out there!(And better than Camille down the street IMO). The sauce wasn’t as spicy as I would have liked but the overall dish was delicious. Yum! Will definitely come back to try more of their lunch dishes. (+) Tom Yum Noodle Soup! My favorite Tom Yum noodle soup out of all the Thai places I’ve tried in Berkeley! The soup is sweeter than it should be but there’s a real authentic flavor to it that most other places don’t have. I like how it’s thin noodles instead of big flat noodles(which can be too much sometimes). They’re pretty generous with their seafood and the mushroom adds a nice touch to it! (+) They have their lunch specials(rice + any type of combos available). It’s super quick and easy if you’re in a hurry! They have food prepared already and you can choose any of the dishes + rice for about $ 7-$ 8!(They have Pad Thai, Curry Tofu, Pork & Eggplant, etc…) Will come back in the future to take a picture of this! (-) Meh, don’t get the pad thai. Totally not worth the money. It was flavorful but it was lacking what a regular pad thai should taste like. The noodles were still super clear(where’s the sauce?) and the tofu was dry and unflavorful. The portion was relatively big but they would have lost a star if I had try this dish before all of the other ones… Also, I love how they’re vegetarian and vegan friendly. The menu is big and easy to see when you enter! More points for having a lot of options for all types of food lovers. The only reason they lost a star is how clean the place is. It’s a pretty run down place and pretty dark inside. The tables are always sticky to me and the place personally doesn’t scream«CLEAN» when I’m in there. But besides from that, the food is so it’s worth it!

Jasmine Thai is probably my favorite Thai restaurant in Berkeley! It’s a very small hole-in-the-wall restaurant that is definitely underrated. It’s SOOGOOD! I always crave their Panang Beef Curry. mmm The food is delicious! It really gives you a home-cooked-meal kind of feeling. The food is high quality and tasty WITHOUT being overly greasy and salty like all the other fast food Thai restaurants around campus(ie Thai Basil, Bangkok, Thai Noodle… etc). My boyfriend and I finally decided to try Jasmine Thai during our senior year and we loved it. Unfortunately we didn’t discover this place until our last year of college:( We occasionally make a trip to Berkeley to eat Jasmine Thai. I usually order Panang Beef Curry and my bf usually orders the Chicken Pumpkin Curry. The panang beef curry has a generous amount of tender slow cooked beef and bamboo and it has just has perfect balance between sweetness and savoriness. The chicken pumpkin curry comes with white meat chicken and an assortment of vegetables and is a little bit more sweeter than the panang curry. Both are yummy! I have yet to try the other dishes they have, but I can vouch that their curries are delicious! If you go during a weekday for lunch, they have a really great lunch special. It’s a great place to get quick, tasty, somewhat healthy(it’s not overly oily, greasy, and salty like other Thai restaurants), and authentic Thai food. The restaurant itself is very small and has limited seating, but you always have the option of ordering to-go and taking your food on campus to eat! It’s located on Euclid right next door to Brewed Awakening Coffee! And lastly, the owners and staff are incredibly friendly and sweet. We always have a great dining experience at Jasmine Thai. Give it a try! :))

As a vegan, I appreciate they they can make me pad-see-ew, pad-thai, and other dishes for me(they are actually on the menu, I don’t need to special order). There are also two curries(yellow and green) that I can grab for the lunch combo. I used to love it here because I don’t like very salty or oily food; recently their food seems to be saltier and more oily(but they aren’t as salty or oily as other thai options), which is a bummer for me. Also, I would be happy to pay around $ 5 – 6 for the food, but they change more(~$ 8), which is a bummer, but it’s convenient to where I work, so I put up with it.

There’s always a line out the door at Jasmine Thai! So of course I think I must go there too! Sometimes it doesn’t seem like the line ever goes down. But finally there were only 5 people in line, so I decided to see what it was all about. The lunch special seems to be a good deal. They have quite a variety and veggie friendly too. I tried the pad thai noodles and the pumpkin chicken curry. I love thai food and can eat it quite often, but on the day of the food was just ok. It just needed more flavor and spice.

I don’t know what to rate thing place because I come here all the time, and I am bound to come here all the time since I spend a lot of time in north side and I need Thai food. All the time. I usually get pad kee Mao or pad see ew. Both are pretty decent, light and delicate flavoring, good serving… It’s a little bit too sweet and sometimes makes me feel gross after eating. Recently I tried prawns and eggplant. Good flavoring, but definitely prefer Thai basils basil eggplant dish– the eggplants didn’t have the flavor absorbed and it was kind of bad…

I always just got the lunch combo from here. They have been resizing the togo box, which makes the portion smaller now but with the same price. I probably won’t go back anymore just cuz the portion is not good compared to the given price The eggplant was really watery but the pumpkin curry chicken was good. I always get the thai red rice, which is pretty healthy. If you go, try to avoid exactly lunch hour since the line is super long.

Kind of expensive and not that good. I had the lunch special though– so maybe that’s why. The lunch special at Thai Basil is WAY better and almost $ 3 less expensive. I was hungry, so I wolfed down their green curry– that was actually pretty good. The eggplant, though, was not. I love eggplant– but there was just no flavor to this eggplant so I found it hard to enjoy even in my hunger. I wouldn’t come here unless you have a major craving for Thai and you’re stuck on North side for the day.

No. Just No. There are, unfortunately, barely any options for food on the north side of campus and this place is definitely NOT the place to go. I suggest you go to more cleaner places for your lunch. The prices they charge here are typical of thai places, except inferior quality and horrible atmosphere. The place looked so sad and gloomy I just couldn’t stand but sit there for more than 5 minutes. This place definitely needs more cheerful service, remodeling, and invest in making the restaurant more appealing to customers and less sad looking. There are no other thai places on this side so I suggest you skip out on a thai experience and go somewhere else.

I come here all the time since it’s the only good Thai food restaurant on the north side of campus. I almost always get either the Pad Thai or the Pad See-ew. Both a pretty fundamental Thai dishes and Jasmine Thai makes them really well. The Pad See-ew is perfectly done. The Pad Thai is interesting. It doesn’t have the redness that you usually see in Pad Thai, but is still really good and has a nice sweetness to it. I’ve also tried the lunch special a few times. Pretty good deal and they serve you really fast.

Everyone who reviews this restaurant is pretending to be some sort of snooty, pretentious foodie who knows all about Thai food, as if they grew up in the Bangkok hood and were in the Hangover part 2 when Stu gets that tattoo on his face and bones with that shemale. With that said, come here for lunch! This was one of the first Thai restaurants that I have ever gallivanted to, now that I attend UC-Berkeley. Nonetheless, this place is on point. I ordered the three-item lunch combo(actually four items because I had originally wanted pad thai as one of my 3 items, but since it wasn’t ready yet at 11am, I got the eggplant tofu as my third item – then they brought out the pad thai so I asked that dude to put some of dat jaunt on my plate and I’ll pay you an extra dolla dolla bill for the fourth item). I also got the basil chicken and pumpkin curry chicken. The food itself was good. Not everything was as spicy as advertised(namely the basil chicken). Nonetheless, the basil chicken was spicy, just not *hot* spicy. The seating area is sort of cramped, but that is precisely why you ought to come here at 11am!

Jasmine has a regular menu but i lacked the coins in the meter so i got take out. eats: 2 item lunch(7.91) –panang beef and basil chicken flavors were subtle, not vibrant on your tongue spicy. beef chewy, chicken tender„ lots of bamboo, a bit of flavorful sauce. –lots of rice. 3.5 stars for good value crumbs: –fast, friendly service –many tables for sitdown.
