Morgan’s chicken sandwich is simply the best I’ve ever had…

I came here last week hoping to check this place out, only to find a custodian cleaning the floor outside with the gate shut. «They closed down,» he said. That morning I felt like lost a battle against brand-name fancy-pants brunch places, as my friend and I ended up going to La Note instead. Honorary 5 star; I hope business works out better for them elsewhere!

Very cool place, easy to miss. They have an outside walk up quickserve window, and ample outside seating for nice days. You enter through the common area door to the right, and enter into a very hip café with a small stage, pictures of musical instruments, food and coffee and more ample seating. The owner and workers are still getting it together, but they have great attitudes and actually seem to care that you are satisfied. The dark roast daily brew drip coffee was ok, nothing special, but perfectly acceptable. They have the UC Berkeley student radio station playing, my only ambiance issue is that it’s a bit too bright for my morning preference. They also forgo the plush comfy chairs, but oh well.

This place is in the same bldg as Yoga to the People. It’s a little hard to find but it’s worth it. I usually don’t give out 5 stars unless EVERYTHING is the bomb diggity but Morgan’s café has the coolest baristas. I can’t help but enjoy my time when I walk in because they are so damn warm. I came with a colleague and we were only here for an hour and half. In that time we met the owner who just got a shipment of fruits and gave us some complimentary honey covered goodies. THEYWEREEFFINGGOOOOOOOD! Who would’ve thought something so simple could be so delicious! We ordered the chai tea latte and soup. The chai was pretty good, not epic but I can tell it was made with a lot of love. For that reason, I stayed till closing b/c I couldn’t get enough. With free WI-FI, tons of space, and the large windows, this makes for an ideal day study spot. The only down side is that it closes early and sometimes during the weekend. Besides that, the food is fresh, coffee is good, and the atmosphere is like a slice of your home town. Everything is made with love. OHGAWD!

Came here in dire need of an iced chai latte with soy. They didn’t have any soy milk but I still enjoyed my drink with skim. The total was only $ 2.75! I NEED to come back and try out the food. The pictures and descriptions look AMAZING. Fresh and unique. The ambience is very delightful, with jazzy music in the background and free citrus rind-infused ice water for customers.

OVERALL: The food wasn’t omgspectacular, but because of the service and ambience, I bumped it up from a 3-star to a 4-star. Read on. The entrance is a tiny bit hard to find but it’s because the café is cozily tucked away next to Yoga to the People. But it’s really not a big deal. My friend and I went around 11:30 Monday morning to get some brunch on a whim. The cashier recommended to us some things on the menu(bagel sandwich. forget what it was called and the multigrain waffle). There are a bunch of little tables around the café and a big window at one end so there’s natural light coming in. It’s pretty clean and maybe because it was a Monday morning in the summer, there weren’t many people. It felt nice and chill. The food came out pretty quickly and presentation was beautiful(even though they use paper plate – they put a straw basket thingamobobber under it)! My multigrain waffle came with mounds of whipped cream, cinnamon and caramel on the side. It was pretty delish. The bagel sandwich was pretty good, too. My friend and I had some awesome converstation there – we were there for like 2 hours. The cashier knew we were contemplating whether to order smoothies but had decided not to. Later on, he brought over a couple cups of strawberry smoothie for free to us and one other customer. That was super nice of him! It really made the experience. I wouldn’t mind coming back here again if I’m ever wanting brunch on west side of campus(: TIPS: 1) Go to Yoga to the People, walk across the building, eat at Morgan’s. That would be divine(: 2) Try the multigrain waffle!

I am saddened to give this place a less than stellar review, but my experience was definitely between 2 and 3 stars. For starters, let me say however, that I will defiitely be back to give it a second try. The counter staff is very nice, the place is incredily clean, and it was very quiet and tranquil. I think it’d be a great place to go read or study for a while. Out of the more substantial food choices, there were fewer vegetarian options than I would have expected – at least in terms of what was advertised(I noticed someone else’s review mentioned they would make things to order, however). I almost left because I really just wanted a plain green salad, but then I saw they had a sandwich that seemed quite good because it had avocado, which I enjoy. So I ordered this with a side salad. I am seriously on a quest to find the best salad place in the East Bay, and this was pretty amazing. It had the freshest tomatoes, a great variety of greens, POTATO that was soo delicious. When I do go back, I will definitely get it again, and I will ask if I can just have a full-sized version(which should totally be a menu option. I think the only other salads listed are a chicken salad, a nicoise, and a couscous/chicken salad…) In theory, the sandwich would have been great also – the bread was perfectly toasted, the cheese was melted, there was a nice herb+olive oil dressing on part of it, the greens were really fresh etc., but there was a rather obscene amount of mayo on the sandwich. I tried to scrape it off, but it was just too much, so I had to eat it open-faced. Moreover – and sadly – there was no avocado, even though it’s listed as one of the sandwich’s three main ingredients. The avocado was really the only reason I thought to get the sandwich so I was irritated, especially since one of the workers had seemed to be looking for something. It’s one thing to forget to put it in the sandwich, another to know something is missing but not mention this to the customer =(I personally would definitely not have gotten just a cheese and mayo sanwich, so I would have appreciated knowing this. I also found a hair in my food. Whatever, I’m going to chalk it up to a bad day, and try again. The salad is worth it!

Camped out here while the hubs was getting his chaturanga on next door at YTTP. So glad I decided to be here instead of PIQ! What a nice surprise. A nice coffee café(rather than restaurant café) that served all my basic needs. What I enjoyed: ample seating, including a few couches quiet sizable menu with baked goods, sandwiches, salads smoothies — at very reasonable prices food was good quality, nice selection, and on the relative healthy side coffee was decent; not«blue bottle» but for me totally good enough wifi was fast and free nice, hands off but not cold shoulder service clean bathroom

A not bad little café whose staff certainly tries to please, which is always a good feature. A little more coffee shop than café and wasn’t very relaxing to have breakfast in, but the smoothie was good and the sandwich the hubs had was more than decent. We’d probably be back for those. Music was good too.

I am so excited to have found this place! It is hands down the best café-styled place in DT Berk and it is surprisingly affordable, especially for the area. Clean, mellow, and strong community feel. Sam is very friendly. Nice, diverse menu with good, quality food. Healthy! Gluten-free/wheat-free options, lots of veggies! I haven’t tried a sando yet, but my co-workers rave. I will definitely be a frequent visitor.

I love this place! So delicious, fresh and alot of organic ingredients! But somehow the prices are cheap! Great friendly service too! I’m addicted to the iced coffee & smoothies. Their salads are soooo delectable & huge! The rotisery & tuna salad they use are to die for! I love the option for outdoor seating even though I usually get it to go. It’s so nice & convenient after yoga & definitely the only salads I’ve ever looked forward to! I hope you get to enjoy what Morgans café has to offer!

The food is soooo good. I love those paninis, the rice dish, everything. The counter staff is fun. Morgan is awesome. I don’t know if that’s her name but that’s what I imagine it to be. They tell you what’s great on the menu and they don’t lie. They’ll even mix something up custom for you if you ask nicely. How does this place only have 7 reviews? Is it because the front door is hard to find? Go look for it.

This café is a hidden gem! I didn’t know this little spot was here until my co-worker told me about. She suggested trying the waffles but I feel in love with their Spanish Omelet. 2 Eggs, Diced Tomatoes, Sliced Forest Ham, Diced Chilles(Bell peppers) and Havarti Cheese. Served with Multi-grainToast and Coffee or Orange Juice. ~~~Only $ 5.99~~~ The café is so Comfortable! The décor is Travel themed. The place is Super Clean you could lick the tables. .{not that I would am juss saying} You really get a wholesome Community– feel when you there. And the über-friendly cook & cashier… they are sweethearts! The girl & guy both make the place cozy with their warm and positive attitude! I haven’t been there for lunch, but am dying to try it. And I adore their convenient walk-by window! How cute? And Best of All: their prices are CHEAP! You practically feel bad when you see all that you get for the price that you paid.

Best/Cheapest food in Berkeley. Hands down. For all of your meals. I would eat here for every meal if I still lived in the area. I moved out of Berkeley and back to Marin about a month ago, and I dream about this place every day and kick myself for moving away from it. Definitely the worst part about not living in Berkeley. The menu is so versatile, they have breakfast all day, amazing salads/pasta salads, sandwiches, and the best/cheapest smoothies you’ll ever taste. All of the ingredients are super fresh and organic. I don’t understand how this place is so cheap. Incredible. There’s nothing like it. My favorites are the multi-grain waffle and the french toast. You’ll have to try because there are no words that can correctly describe how good and juicy and perfect the food is. Another thing is the staff is incredible. It’s run by an adorable Greek father and his daughter(Adrienne) and nephew(Sam). They are all funny, warm, and do everything possible to please you. So much fun going there. I miss it! Also, I recently found out that Adrienne is an incredible singer/songwriter. She sells her album at the café. One day I decided to buy it after I fell in love with the music online. Get it! It’s definitely worth it. Folk/Jazz/Blue/Soul. So much soul and talent and passion and poetry… amazing.

This place is seriously the best spot in Berkeley to get food. I haven’t written a Unilocal review in forever, so just take that as proof of how good Morgan’s is. They’re waffles are the best I’ve ever tasted, and I was never even a waffle person before I tried theirs. And their smoothies are so good and only $ 3! What really makes this place so great though are the people who work there. They’re super nice and funny and always go out of their way to make you the most delicious and presentable food possible. I really can’t say enough good things about this café! Go try it!

great new café with a convenient walk-by window to fill your coffee mug on your way… They have organic fair trade coffee(a choice of two roasts) served in real, «for here» cups, for my morning coffee break. Then I tried their roasted pepper + hummus sandwich. It was delicious! And there’s always fresh fruit and vegetables around. And outdoor seating!

Was in town over the weekend and stopped in for some breakfast. All I can say is, simply the bomb! The staff was friendly and the food was fantastic. I was really impressed with their coffee. The rest of my day unfolded like a dream and I think my morning meal might of had something to do with it.
