Sunrise Fish Company

I just bought some halibut from Sunrise at the Tuesday farmer’s market on Adeline. This halibut was the most delicious fish!!! I ate part of it as nigiri on Tuesday evening. It had just been caught locally the previous day. Legally, it isn’t sushi grade, but I overheard someone say they had eaten it as sashimi and I’m that kind of daring. It was very yummy with ponzu sauce :) The next day I pan-​cooked the rest for lunch and put it atop my arugula salad. It was so good. I’ll definitely be back for more! Yum!!!
Also, for those looking to eat animals responsibly, I just learned that a very high percentage of fish in stores — even the ones that try to offer good info on sustainability, etc– is mislabeled. At Sunrise you are buying directly from the fisherman, so you can be sure about exactly what you’re getting.

I just enjoyed what my friends and I consider the most delicious salmon and halibut from Sunrise Fish Company. I have pretty high fish/​food standards, and am continually impressed with Sunrise Fish Company. Adam (the fisherman) and Anna are the sweetest people, clearly love their work, and care about sustainable fishing. They cut beautiful portions of fish that are easy to turn into a delicious feast. Tuesdays are my new favorite day because it means freshly caught fish. I just need to find out what other markets they go to, so I can buy fresh fish for the weekends too. Yum yum yum.

The best place to get fresh caught local halibut, salmon and other delectable seafoods. Adam is an amazing fisher and he and Ana are so knowledgable when it comes to meal suggestions. There are few fish vendors at any farmers market and Sunrise Fish Co. is clearly the best!

Ana and Adam run an awesome local business out the east bay! Their fish is top-​quality and as fresh as it gets. Would suggest it to anyone that wants local, sustainable seafood!

I ate the most delicious halibut from Sunrise Fish Company last night! I bought it (AND got cooking recommendations) from the fisherman himself at the South Berkeley farmer’s market on Adeline Street. Adam and Ana are the most friendly and knowledgeable people I’ve ever bought fish from. Everything they sell is fresh, local, seasonal, and offered at a very fair price. This is the place to go for Bay Area seafood!

Sunrise Fish Co is awesome — super friendly folks selling top quality fish that they’ve literally reeled in themselves with passion and hard work. Ana and Adam really care about what they do, how they do it, and the customers they’re serving. Happy to support these locals!

Visited Sunrise Fish Company at the South Berkeley Farmers’ Market on Tuesday evening – what a treat to be able to buy fish straight from the fisherman himself! Not only do they have a terrific selection of freshly-​caught fish, but they are also incredibly knowledgeable and can instruct how best to prep, cook and serve the fish. Best place to go for fresh fish!
