This place! Seriously, I am such a huge fan. I LOVE a great chow mien and that exactly what they served me. And free green tea? what more could you want! Also, the veggie bun was something I’d never had before, but I was quite impressed! I recommend this place for a hearty, healthy lunch!

«Chinese health food» is the theme, which means a very limited selection for carnivores: no pork, no seafood, no won ton soup, no sweet and sour anything. That said, this place is friendly, clean, and a rare mixture of high quality and low prices. Broccoli beef at $ 5.75 was delicious, made with flank steak and totally fresh broccoli. They’ve been here for about a year; I hope they make it.

Never thought healthy food can be so tasty! Great food for a great price. The owner takes pride in serving only healthy food, so don’t ask for unhealthy stuff not on the menu. Overall, very friendly service and clean environment. Give it a try!

I’m a big fan. The food is good, healthy, and relatively inexpensive with good size portions. Very much friendly to vegetarians and vegans alike. Tina is also very flexible if you need to get something that’s not on the menu.

The food was ok, i liked the cabbage, and the food was healthy and not oily, pricing is not bad for portions, i however like my greasy oily chinese food, and so this was not my thing so much, however if you are looking for a lighter fare, i would recomend this place.

Super tasty, fresh, and healthy Chinese food. I especially love the Chicken Chow Mein and the Chicken Soup. Also the pickled cabbage side dish. The restaurant is very clean and the food is light and very flavorful. Also the quantities are good, and the pricing is very reasonable. Very friendly place. It’s my favorite Chinese restaurant — I come there at least one day a week, it is so good!

Yo! This place is legit. Healthy food and tastes bomb. I love this style of cooking which is fresh flavorful and light. It doesn’t feel greasy or heavy. The flavor really shines in a simple and aromatic way and the vegetables are beautiful. I have no idea what the other reviews were about when I came on here to check this place out. The seasoning is there and the food is far from bland. I feel like most people don’t understand the concept of healthy which this place completely understands. They let the natural flavor season this dish, nothing fake or artificial tasting. It taste like they care about the food and freshness. It’s organic and clean. I feel so good post yoga coming here when I don’t have time to make dinner. Nothing frozen it all taste fresh and delicious. I can’t wait to try more dishes. By the way I had the chicken and vegetable no carb option. My fiancé had the broccoli and veggie with side of brown rice. Let me tell you, at first I thought for the price the portion must be small like for a bird but the portion is so great! It is filling and my fiancé was licking the container because he liked it so much. Give it a shot for yourself and see.

I’ve been using Unilocal for years, but never felt inclined to leave a review. I will this time. The waitress(who seems like the co-owner and wife of the chef) was a little strangely over attentive, but I think she meant well. The food just really is not going to survive in Berkeley. The IDEA of healthy, low fat, low salt Chinese cooking is fine. But the execution here was just poor. All the food we ordered was very bland. It seemed like everything was boiled and then served without added salt. Maybe it is just the gweilo in me, but I expect my Chinese food to be flavorful. I don’t think the use of a little salt, flavors and oils is inappropriate. How about some dishes with plentiful garlic, ginger and chiles — in other words some POP? Considering how many delicious high quality places there are to eat in the area, I cannot see this place surviving.

Excellent experience here. It had a humble and I rushed feel to the place. I love that the food is not too salty or inundated with sauces. Not oily at all like most other Chinese food places. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food and quality. I got the chef special with bit of everything, and the cabbage veggies and carrot and radish and seasons bun was a nice appetizer to prepare the pallete for the heavier chicken and veggie bun a bit later. The hot sweet soy milk is fresh and delicious. The veggie bun is very delicious and I love that it has so much veggies!

We dropped in for a late lunch and found tasty and healthy vegetable filled Chinese buns, crunchy-good spicy garlic cabbage, and steak in a puff roll. All were well prepared and delicious. We’re planning to come back for dinner to try more. The dining room is very clean and bright. Casual and affordable.

I just had a delicious healthy meal here and I’ll definitely be coming back. The food was light, tasty, fulfilling and healthy. We had the braised drumstick, veggie pan fried dumplings, tube chicken soup, beef broccoli with brown rice, and the soy milk. And the cold cabbage, too.

T & R took over the site that was previously occupied by «Fragrant Garden.» Never ate there but my friend MW used to order their food since they delivered. Food from FG was okay. You’d be surprised how light and welcoming T & R is. You enter from the side via the parking lot in back. There is a very nice deck with tables and a very clean bathroom. The inside is very plain but it is sun-lit and welcoming. The couple that run this place are very warm and friendly. They greet the new customers like us as warmly as their several regulars that come in. Our son is a Big fan of this place. The menu is smallish but each dish has a separate photo page with all the ingredients of each dish. Although they are not vegan/vegetarian there are several dishes to choose from. They call their food«natural» which I assume to be organic. I had read their menu ahead of time and was happy to see they have a couple of veggie dim sum choices(Vegetable bun {fried or steamed} soy sesame Puff I ordered the soy sesame puff which is a baked roll with steamed veggies inside and sesame seeds on the bun. It was good not fantastic but I’d probably order it again. I also ordered the pan fried veggie bun – lots of veggies. Lightly seasoned. We decided to try the hot soy milk… it was fresh, bland but tasty. We liked it. Mr Rinky ordered the steamed veggie bun(just like mine but not pan fried) and a veggie combo. It was okay, nothing spectacular. We’ll probably go there again with the son. They revised their hours recently.(The hours posted on the Unilocal page). They used to be open early in the morning and closed at 3pm. I’m really cheering for this couple they are so nice, friendly and enthusiastic. It is hard to open a new restaurant in the Bay Area. I wish them lots of luck!

Strange place. I went in to try this recently opened spot for lunch. As soon as I sat down I had the waitress hovering over me, took the menu out of my hands and read it off to me. She just stood right next to the table where I was seated and wouldn’t leave me alone. Apparently they are cooking healthy, organic Chinese food but I just wanted to order lunch and read my newspaper which doesn’t seem to be acceptable. I can read and speak English just fine; and if I couldn’t there are pictures of the food. Just too freakin’ over-bearing for my tastes, I wish them well but I won’t be back.

The soy milk tastes really fresh and natural. The food is healthy, not too much salt or oil and makes me feel good eating it. Hard to find places like this. The prices are super reasonable. The owners Tina and Raymond are nice people. Highly recommend!

Food at T&R reminds me of a small family-owned homestyle Taiwanese restaurant in my hometown. Our family used to go their late Sunday mornings for Taiwanese-style breakfast. At T&R, the homemade soy milk, veggie bun, and spicy garlic cabbage are the standouts. Simple, nostalgic food. I wish they had more variety, but it’s worth checking out if you’re over by REI, Whole Foods, and 4th Street. The veggie bun truly has lots of veggie filling and not too much bun.

Fantastic Soy Milk, which is made fresh daily. Also great veggie buns. Each bite of the bun has more veggie than the bun. Also the Soy Sesame Puffs are great for breakfast. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to those wishing to try out some delicious, healthy, but fresh food. It’s also run by some very kind Chinese folks who definitely look like they’re enjoying what they’re doing!
