UC Berkeley Astronomy Department

If you’re not a science geek like me then ignore this but if you happen to like knowing why and how things work and using your mind to probe the deeper mysteries of life, read on. This department is on one of the cutting edges of modern astronomy, the hunt for extra solar planets. While over 150 have been found so far (with new ones every month) as little as 15 years ago we knew of none outside of our own. One of the astronomers who has spearheaded this effort is Dr. Geoff Marcy who is a professor in this department. I have had the opportunity to hear him speak and think we can look forward to more important discoveries in this field. It’s nice to know history is being made in our own backyard.
