Decided to try this after my husband and I have driven by probably a thousand times. Went at 10:30 am on a Saturday and we’re seated right away. Staff are pleasant. We both got omelets –I got buffalo chicken which was supposed to have blue cheese but had american. not really a big deal and my husband had bacon cheeseburger. Both dishes came with home fries(delicious) and toast. We ordered muffins banana and cranberry orange and they were both freshly baked. Banana stood out for flavor. My husband also decided to try portuguese hash and it’s the only reason they don’t have 5 stars sitting here. It was small and disappointing. Overall a great experience and we will go back.

I continue to be a huge fan of this little place! It’s gotten quite popular and deservedly so! I’ve still only made it for breakfast but it’s always good when I come.(One time there was a new cook on and the pancakes were underdone but he personally came out and apologized profusely and made them again. Awesome!) Service is good and friendly and fast. The only time the food is a little slow is if it’s very busy in there.(Eg the only time it was slow for me was when every single table, booth and seat at the counter was taken. That’s quite understandable) I love coming here and hope they continue to be here for many years.

I came across The Boondocks while looking for a new breakfast place to try out. It’s nice to mix things up once in a while. I saw they had a great rating so I figured it was a safe bet. Unfortunately I was wrong. I actually went twice. The first time was on a Sunday, about a month ago, the second time was a Tuesday. I ordered as steak bomb omelette both times. The restaurant was very busy the Sunday we went and the noise level inside made it impossible to think, let along talk with my family, the acoustics of the place seem to amplify the normal din of a breakfast eatery into a mind-numbing cacophony that left me with a mild headache. The food was decent but hard to enjoy due to the noise level. The Tuesday visit was much quieter, with far fewer people, but it was still pretty noisy. The real miss on Tuesday was the food. The steak was very gristly, dried out, and poorly assembled and the potato shreds were dry and completely devoid of seasoning. It was very disappointing. Both visits offered good service, and the place is clean, but I doubt I will be back soon. Unless you’re buying…

This restaurant is a long time coming for Berkley! Friendly staff and amazing food! I was so surprised by the size of the restaurant inside. Great made from scratch soups and a great menu. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner amazing! I will definitely be back soon. Eat local!

Good, simple, food. Nothing fancy, but the prices can’t be beat. The staff are all wonderful.

It was nice to try a new place when there are not many others in the area. My omelette was flat and forgettable. My friend’s pancakes were very good. Plenty of good service and coffee refills. Dining room was very loud.

Love their breakfast, so great! I haven’t had one breakfast meal i didn’t love. Just as a warning, their lunch and dinner is not very good at all, i only recommend going for their breakfast.

It was great to see red bliss potato homefries, unfortunately a few pieces were under cooked and the seasoning was bland, in addition the added onion was barely, if at all cooked/heated. The hash is canned. While the cinnamon french toast is nicely presented, dusting it with powdered cinnamon doesn’t qualify it as cinnamon toast. Coffee was weak and I had to use cream n’ sugar to make it palatable.

So far every time I have been to the Boondocks the food has been great. A lot it is made really quick especially at the slow times. Even when it is busy the food only takes 5 minutes depending upon what you order. The waitresses are very nice and courtious. Always checking to see if you need more coffee and how the food was…

Great food, reasonable price, very nice atmosphere great home town place. The service is terrible every time. Waitresses are completely clueless and sometimes rude. I keep going back for the food

This place has good breakfasts butI wouldn’t eat there for dinner again. My husband and I both ordered the Portuguese steak. Waited 45 minutes for a meal to come just to have it be inedible. When we sent it back the cook was not very happy. One of the waitresses I’m assuming maybe an owner was very nice and tried to be very accommodating. But we did not want to try anything else and asked for our check. We did have two sodas. At this point it would have been nice for them to say nevermind we’re so sorry you had a bad experience but no they actually gave us a bill for $ 4.23 for our drinks. Will not go back again even for breakfast.

Breakfast is great. Reasonable portions and not disgustingly greasy like a lot of breakfast places can be. I had the most delicious Belgian waffle the other day. Also love the potato shreds! Lunch/dinner is good. The Portuguese steak plate and turkey dinner were so/so, would not order again. The fish and chips are great. Love to order them with a cup of chowdah! I like their sandwiches, too… tuna, turkey club, steak and cheese, etc. Prices are definitely reasonable and the service is good. Really glad to have this place close by and wish they were open for dinner every night!

Finally went here and glad I did. This is a great place. We stepped and inside and were quickly and warmly greeted. My daughter and I selected a booth and our waitress showed up right away taking drink orders and offering menus. I went with eggs, home fries, hash, and toast. My daughter went with the waffle with ice cream. Our wait for food was minimal and it was delicious! Eggs were cooked just as I ordered, hash was great and home fries were nicely seasoned. The coffee was hot and flavorful. Overall this was a great experience. The service was super nice and the food was yummy with nice portions. It is nice to see a place like this in Berkley!

The food and service was great. I would return again. They were very friendly to our large party with 8 adults and 2 kids. The food was tasty, and my kid ate well. Chocolate milk was yummy. It was laid back and quaint. Many other families with kids, all behaving well. Perfect Sunday brunch with the grandparents. We had toast, omelets, waffles, and eggs any way you wanted. It passes the test for my brother who frequents NYC diners.

Great little place. Breakfast is the best meal they serve. Friendly staff, clean and plenty of off street parking. Good amount of food items to chose from. I do recommend they have a hostess to seat guest, so customers won’t get overlooked during a busy breakfast time. Overall a great little place. Definitely recommend to other.

While their grand opening is still upcoming, The Boondocks has been open for a couple of weeks now, and is relying primarily on word-of-mouth. I stopped by for a Sunday breakfast of Steak & Eggs, which featured an 8-oz. steak, two eggs(any style), thick(and tasty) home fries, and toast, all for $ 9.99. It took 20 minutes to get the food, but everything is made to order, and that’s 20 minutes of somebody cooking so I didn’t have to! Besides, the place was packed, and I wasn’t in a particular rush, anyway. What I received for my invested time was a large plate filled with delicious food. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptionally friendly. While they are primarily a breakfast/lunch joint(they open at 6AM), they also serve dinner on select evenings. There is plenty of parking available behind the restaurant in a newly-cleared parking lot(which was an absolute necessity for this venture to succeed). Be aware that the free refills offered on large drinks do not extend to chocolate milk — it’s more of a soda thing. Not knowing what to expect when I came here, I was very pleasantly surprised! Large portions, good food, lots of smiles with the service. .. I highly recommend The Boondocks, at least for breakfast! I look forward to returning, perhaps for lunch or dinner.
