Bar 2421

First off this bar is located at the Hawthorne.
I was pleasantly surprised by how huge this place is and automatically migrated to a booth on the right with its own tv… score.
I came on an odd night and initially we were just one of two tables and one single bartender to a party of 10 and the two of us… so service took a while.
The Happy hour menu was great and cheap.
We ordered a bunch of apps. Stuffed mushrooms, clams casino, prime Rib, crab cakes, lemon cake and 3 drinks all under 32 $.
I know you must be thinking did it all taste like 32 $? It was amazing. Every dish came out great, loved the cheese stuffed mushrooms, the clams were delish and the prime rib… Mmmm with the horse radish sauce… yummm.
The personal tv was a nice touch even though the only channel we could get working was set on Ellen Degeneres but we were surely entertained and well fed. Can’t wait to come back again for happy hour.

Good draft beer prices $ 5.50-$ 7.00 for a 20oz IPA. Yes please. Friendly bartender as well.

Like Jason M. and Dan R., I was delightfully surprised how wonderful this place is!
Jason M. and I went here on a Friday night around 8:30 p.m. and we were one of four parties at the spacious bar. The place was updated and our booths were very comfortable; the seats were cushioned.
What was striking about this place was that we were served ciabatta bread and butter upon sitting. We were here for just drinks and dessert after a meal at City Fish. I enjoyed my Cabernet Sauvignon while my fiancé enjoyed his Pinot Noir. The dessert menu they had was three different mousses (peanut butter, chocolate, and raspberry), crème brule, and cannoli. With the recommendation from our waitress, we got the peanut butter and it was divine! I liked how the dessert was decorated (see my picture).
I really liked this place because there it was not pretentious at all! It is a casual place, but at the same time, not at all crummy ambience.
I’m so glad this place is near my house because this could be a place I visit regularly. Since they participate in
, it is another reason to be my «go to» place.

This is ridiculous… I’m officially calling out the Unilocal filter on this one.
As of this review, there exist four of what you might call «Isolation Unilocal» for Bar 2421, i.e. reviews that are written from profiles with only one review. The two one-​star Unilocal,completely worthless I might add, are fully featured. The two five-​star Unilocal,though not exactly Harvard Law School dissertations, are filtered out. Utterly arbitrary, likely indefensible, and currently marring the reputation of a pretty darn nice bar in Berlin.
Is it perfect? Certainly not. As the reasonable reviews suggested, the service could have been more prompt, and I wished there were more people there to liven up the social scene… perhaps they made this place too big for its own good. But they do make a good effort to put forth a fun vibe and a solid menu at Bar 2421.
We had dessert — an impeccably presented Peanut Butter & Chocolate Mousse Torte, see the pics. It was darn tasty too. Paired with a few glasses of wine and some complimentary Chiabatta rolls, it made for a very pleasant nightcap.

Terrible food and terrible service but band was awesome in the groove

I was surprised at how gorgeous this place was! When you think of the Hawthorne Inn, you might think of Aqua Velva and mothballs. You sure don’t think of style and glitz, but this place was very nice.
We had no service issues, in fact the young lady tending bar tonight (Rosa?) was terrific, fast, and courteous.
This felt more like Boston than it did Berlin, CT !!

This is not a reputable establishment to come to. The worst service ever. I suggest that if you are of African American decent, please do NOT eat at this restaurant!!! They really don’t deserve any stars at all

Great bar! Bartenders are fast and make a good mixed drink! Cool menu on an ipad too. Try the Key Lime martini! delicious! Just go here to have some drinks, I would eat elsewhere (see me Hawthorne Inn review). Cheers!
