So after living in the mid-west for 3 years me and my girlfriend decided to move back to New Jersey. I needed a temporary place to store my furniture and the only place I knew of was Access Self Storage. So me and my lady went there and the prices they quoted me were through the roof!!! So, you may ask me , «if the prices were so high then why did you store there anyway?» Well, I work in a customer service call center, and it is my duty to create a great experiences for our customers, and that’s what the guys did at Access Self Storage. They were very helpful and even though the prices almost gave me a heart attack, lol, the managers up there were very sincere and honest. I have to admit they did work with me, so I can’t complain too much… but anyway I just wanted to give my thumbs up to them and I also want to post on Angie’s List about them too if they’re up there. P. S. I’m sorry for those of you who might’ve had a bad experience but they treated me and my girlfriend pretty well.

Cliffnotes: –HIGHRATES –Rude customer service **Don’t be lazy: Go to CUBESMART storage in Whippany or Morristown instead for a MUCH better experience! Here’s the story: My husband and I were in need of storage so I thought I’d try this place since my parents had a good experience there. Spoke with some manager George on the phone and he was pleasant. Offered to waive a move-in one time charge, offer a decent rate(IMO), etc. So I brought my husband there this past weekend to check out the facility. When we arrived, George wasn’t there but some other guy was — an older man, completely unfriendly, and grouchy. Seemed annoyed that we showed up, ya know? Like it was a chore to help us out. Immediately that frustrated me and my husband. My husband left the building to start googling other places in the area to see if they could offer a better rate. Turns out EVERYWHERE else does. So I walked back inside to let this man know and to see if he could offer a better rate. He basically said, no, not my problem, can’t help you, goodbye, ohhh and if you don’t take it I’m pretty sure I’ll have it rented this afternoon by someone else anyway. SORUDE. We went north 10 minutes up to Cube Storage in Whippany, were offered LOWER rates, amazing customer service(ask for Manager Peggy, she’s awesome!), and a really pleasant experience.

A postscript to my previous positive review. my girlfriend and I recently moved into a larger house and, this past weekend, it was time to retrieve the Bergsmo dresser and my other stored items. When I opened the door to my unit, which I had last visited a couple of months ago, I was met with a shocking sight. several dead stinkbugs laying on the ground of the unit and a couple of dozen small flying insects having made themselves a nest in my belongings. The unidentifiable insects had infested most of the organic items. They primarily nested in fabric items like wool rugs, cotton towels, cotton blankets, and wool jackets but even got into my leather cowboy boots. They even got into sealed cardboard boxes and plastic bins. The location manager George was sympathetic — saying, «All it takes is one person to bring in something. and it spreads from unit to unit» — and indicated he’d called an exterminator to take care of the problem and offered to reimburse me for the cost If I wanted to have the ruined items dry cleaned, but I was afraid to even put them in my car for fear I’d have to fumigate it afterwards. When I complained further about seeing the insects elsewhere in the facility, he agreed to refund the pro rata portion of the advance rent I’d paid for the month — so long as I signed a release relieving them of any further claims. I had insurance coverage through my renters insurance policy although none of the items ruined were particularly valuable. I am not as upset about the value of my ruined items, as I admit that I had intended to donate most of the ruined items to charity, but I am quite upset that I paid several thousand dollars over the past three years to store my belongings at Access Self Storage only to have to throw it right into the dumpster.
