My daughter and I stopped in on this 92 degree Sunday for some cool refreshing relief of Italian Ice and we were not disappointed. We shared a watermelon and it has bits of actual watermelon fruit in it, which was a tasty surprise for me and my daughter who’s goal was to find as many watermelon pieces as she could. The sizes are good starting at $ 2.50 for a medium and filled to the brim. They only take cash, which while I was inside seen a number of people leave and come back. That can kinda be an inconvenience if you’re a person like me that’s a debit card person and don’t carry much cash. This place can get crowded, but they have a number of people working so it’s never a long wait. It’s inside of an air conditioned building so if the wait is long this definitely is welcomed. Not like Mario’s on Taylor Street where you are outdoors. Great alternative if you don’t want to head on Taylor. Parking can kinda be a challenge as well. This establishment sit on a busy street with other restaurants and businesses, but if you park in CVS across the street or even Buona Beef next door there will not be an issue with getting towed.

One of my favorite places nearby to get Italian Ice! I’m pretty sure it’s cash only. My favorite flavor to get is Piña Colada, but all of the flavors are pretty good.

This place is the real deal! The ice is incredibly flavorful, just the right texture, and the fruit flavors have bits of real fruit. You can’t beat the prices, much lower than another well-known Italian ice place in the city – and better. The staff is friendly too. I hit this place up twice a week now.

Right down the street from Fitzgerald’s sits this wonderful Italian Ice place, so if it’s summer and you’re off for a show, make sure to stop by Gina’s first. If you’re not going to Fitzgerald’s, it’s worth the trip from anywhere you are on the North, Northwest or West side of the city, if you’re looking for a summer time treat. Situated on a major thoroughfare like Roosevelt Rd, parking sucks ass. My favorite is the cantaloupe. And the strawberry. The chocolate is good, too. And…

Today was the first day the temps hit above 70, and one of my first thoughts was«Gina’s might be open!» It’s that good. I’ve had most of the flavors– I haven’t tried chocolate or strawberry. The only one I’ve actually disliked was mango, as it tastes super artificial. They should actually remove it from their menu. You absolutely can’t go wrong with lemon and watermelon, so I suggest you try those first. Cantaloupe and coconut are also great. If you can’t decide, you can do half and half in any size. Also, they stay pretty well in the freezer, so feel free to take some for later.

I’ve been going to Gina’s for over years. They’re the best when it comes to service and product. No need to go to Taylor street to get authentic, delicious Italian Ice, Gina’s is the best hands down.

Don’t waste your time walking into this establishment if you believe in love and equality. Gina is as homophobic and bigoted as it comes and yes her heart must be made of ice as well. I walked in with my partner and she didn’t even wait on us. She looked at us and turned around and walked in the back, then came back out and helped the people who were behind even though they pointed out that we were before them… We walked out… this place is not worth my spit

The Italian ice at Gina’s is very good. It’s one of the best places to get Italian ice in the Chicagoland area.

Yum, yum, yum. This italian ice is delicious! It is very natural tasting and always fresh. You can’t go wrong with any of the flavors, and it always feels great to support local businesses! I generally park on one of the side streets since Roosevelt is almost always packed. Bring cash; nothing else is accepted.

Coming for someone who’s childhood has been distorted with blue raspberry Icee Push Up’s. I’ll say I do like Gina’s, but not ready to give them the crown for best Italian Ice just yet.(don’t worry ICEE isn’t holding it down either.) The taste was very FRESH! the first two samples I was thinking this is tad water down, as I’m use to it being, well hard as ICE. The texture in the Italian ice was smoother then what I found from other’s that make Italian ice. Recently Lazza Italian Ice has been my go to brand but they have like a fiz/syrup like flavor that reminds me of Nehi soda a tad. Gina left me with more of a natural crisp like taste. Gina’s made me feel like the lifesaver commercial from 1994(google that and tell me I’m wrong.) Small($ 2) medium($ 3) large($ 5) and jumbo($ 7) Cash only. Parking sucks pray for spot in front or park in the CVS directly across the street

Every time I’m at a CTA train station, I often see the advertisement from the city of Berwyn. Why Berwyn? I personally don’t have any intention of purchasing a property in Berwyn, but I knew I had to pay a visit to Gina’s Italian Ice. Heading to the northern side of Berwyn isn’t too arduous via public transportation: get off at the CTA Oak Park Blue Line station(exit through Oak Park Ave.) and head south. In approximately fifteen(15) minutes or so, Grandma Gina will be there waiting for you southeast corner of Oak Park and Roosevelt. Grandma Gina likes to count the bills, so bring your pocket cash. A small cup is $ 2, so it’s manageable if you behave and Mommy awards you some snack money. Daddy J. wanted a medium cup of coconut($ 3), so his wish was certainly granted. I’m a like sour-flavor gal, so a small cup of lemon Italian ice was just perfect! We sat at their old-school patio and commented on a Mercedes Benz convertible passing by on Roosevelt. Their Italian ice was great, but I prefer the one at Mario’s just by a little bit(Trust me! The difference was very, very minute). If you like ultra-smooth Italian Ice lemonade, Gina’s is it! Bye now, Granny Gina, till next time…

Ice flavored treats. I am a sucker for ice flavored treats. Snowballs, slushies, sno-cones and ITALIANICE. I cannot say no. I seek it out every chance I get and will pay a premium for it. Now that we have gotten the background information out of the way, you can better understand why I became instantly excited when learning of a highly regarded Italian Ice establishment nearby. And, it did not disappoint. I ordered a medium half lemon and half cherry. I liked the lemon more than the cherry but they were both good. There’s something to be said about having little pieces of lemon in your lemon ice. The texture was great and suggests it is made fresh. I tasted the coconut and it was refreshing but not a flavor I would order. Coconut is not a favorite of mine, but it was good. IMO, it tastes better than coconut water. Please note the II here melts fast. Grab a straw or eat it right away. If not, you will be drinking it. Prices range from $ 2-$ 7 which is a small price to pay for this goodness.

I have been coming here for years and it is always great. yesterday i tried the mango flavor and it must have been syrup and not real fruit so that was a let down. I usually stick with lemon and watermelon. next time I will know better.

Cheap and refreshing. 2 $ for a small Italian ice and you can get 2 favors. Bee here twice now. I would not recommend the piña colada but the lemon and coconut are very good. The lemon is outstanding. I will keep coming here and try a new flavor + lemon every time.

ehhh, I feel bad not giving this place the full stars but honestly, I wasn’t blown away. I am a huge fan of Mario’s and I don’t think Gina’s compared. My husband and I both got watermelon. There were a few small chunks of watermelon but it tasted very artificial as though a watermelon syrup was used. We were going to try another flavor but unfortunately I got pretty sick(nothing to do with Gina’s) so we headed back home. If we are in the area again we might try a different flavor other than watermelon but Gina’s isn’t on my list of must haves for the summer. Cash only! Limited street parking

This place is the real deal! My wife couldn’t wait until they opened their doors this season and with the luck of the weather allowed them to open BEFORE May! Gina herself greeted us at the open door and her son recommended the Lemonade Italian Ice but I also got the strawberry which was amazing! Warning: you will have to visit several times in order to try all their fabulous flavors! Only con was no parking. You can park in the Walgreens parking lot and walk over. They have a nice outdoor patio area!

Love love love this place! Best Italian ice I’ve ever had. This place is perfect to visit in the summer — especially on warm nights. Personally, I’m a classic lemon ice lover, but I have tried some of their other flavors. So far I have not had one I haven’t liked. Be sure to try this place if you’re in the area! :)
