We were served rotten — and I mean truly rotten, nasty flavor of rotten meat, totally inedible — chicken breast(Filet de Poulet à La Normande). We also tried the Coquelet and the Entrecôte. The coquelet tasted circumspect, the entrecôte was cooked medium as requested but the charring on the outside was way over the top and pretty much ruined the meat. Green beans were passable, as were the potatoes. Waitress was nice enough but nothing more than an apology for the rotten entrée was offered and we were charged full price for the replacement dish. I don’t understand all the 5 star reviews other than we were there on a Sunday night and maybe it was not their regular chef? At any rate, they should be reported for what they served us tonight. Here’s hoping we don’t wake up at 3am puking. Never again.

Tried them for the first time tonight, seriously disappointed. The place was quite empty, only two other tables occupied, both of whom arrived after us-and left before us. The appetizer, escargot, arrived in a timely manner and was tasty. Then it was over an HOUR before our entrees arrived. An. Hour. And the entrees didn’t even arrive together. The steaks arrived first, My kids steaks reeked of hydrocarbons/fuel from the grill. They were almost inedible. By the time they’d given up, the rest of the entrees arrived. My duck was a soggy mess, dripping in Orange sauce(as was everything on the plate including the beans and the potatoes) and there was not a piece of crisp skin in sight. Completely drenched, totally flabby. The potatoes were overcooked and tasted as if they’d been on a steam table for an hour, as well as being soaked in the sea of sauce. My husband did enjoy his lamb. They offered to redo the duck but at this point we were ravenous after waiting over an hour for our entrees, so we just picked out what was edible. The kid were understandably still starved, so we ordered dessert. The cream brulee was well done, but my dessert crepes were soggy, not crispy. And there wasn’t a manager in sight to talk to. We paid the bill, but rarely have I felt more taken advantage of in terms of slow service and mediocre food for not inconsequential money and no mgmt to discuss it with. We were there 2 ½ hours, solely because the entrees and desserts took too blessed long. Other people, who arrived after us, were served and done before our food even arrived. And as stated above, most of the food was mediocre to inedible. I’m giving two stars only because the waitress was nice. I was really hoping to discover a gem. Instead it was a lump of coal(which might explain the lighter fluid taste to the steaks).

Went here tonight after a movie. We were the only ones at the movie and sadly the only ones at this amazing establishment! It was a dreary Tuesday night, so I completely understand the lack of clientele but I have to say, if I lived in Bethel, I’d be here at least once a week. We shared the hot brie and pear plate for appetizer and I had to stop myself before I got too full to eat my meal. My friend had the salmon and I had the shrimp. We both almost licked our plates. The portion was perfect. I was a bit too full since I’m not used to having appetizers before my meal. Had a wonderful glass of wine. All in all a perfect dinner and movie experience. Went with a girl friend, but this would be wonderful for a romantic date night. Service was amazing as well.

Excellent, simple French fare. Stopped in before a movie. Service was great and food was delicious. Croque Madam was very well done and the escargot was perfect. Look forward to returning.

In a word… fantastique! The best restaurant in Bethel! You didn’t hear this from us because we don’t want you to know it’s there!!! The service is great and the food is amazing! The interior is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. This was our second visit and we’re so glad we found such a gem in Bethel. My husband had the beef bourguignon… delicious, I had the lemon, butter filet of sole… wonderful. Both were served with delicious green beans. A fresh blueberry crêpe for dessert was the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Thoroughly enjoyable and we look forward to returning.

Chef knows how to cook like crazy. You can’t get better food anywhere. The prices are so low for the quality you are getting. Service and atmosphere are also super. My wife and I love this place!

This was our first experience here. The wait staff were pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere is quaint, a perfect place for a nice adult night out. We started with the muscles as an appetizer which were excellent. Tasted very fresh. The warm Brie and pear salad was excellent. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection, & the potatoes were delicious. With that being said, I ordered the shrimp, also cooked perfectly, but the sauce had an overbearing lemon flavor. For dessert I had the crème brûlée & was very disappointed. The top was burnt to the point it was inedible. I’m shocked the chef sent out such an embarrassment of a presentation. The custard itself was rather bland and I did not finish the entire dessert. In hindsight, I should have said something. Overall a good experience.

We ate at Mon Petit for the 2nd time, and loved it again! My Steak au Poivre was delish along with the brussels sprouts and mini potatoes. Husband had mussels as an app. and loved the broth with them. He enjoyed Lamb Shank for his entrée. Our son had the Branzino and thought it was super(with the same sides). He and his Sweetheart shared a very generous salad with Brie, Apple and Bibb(?) lettuce and dried cranberries to start. Then she had Sole for her main course, which she said was very flavorful. We enjoyed Crepes with sweet Blueberries and sauce, and Crème Brûlée. The service was very pleasant, and we enjoyed a delightful dinner next to our favorite theatre(Bethel Cinema). Couldn’t enjoy it more! We’ll be back many times!

We stopped in for some wine and strawberry crepes before seeing a late night movie next store at Bethel Cinema. Everything was delicious and the setting was lovely. Service was very good.

We very much enjoyed this place. I have lived in France and am picky about my french food. My son always wants escargot for his birthday so, when I was looking for French restaurants and found this place, right in town, we decided to give it a shot. It was very real, very simple, authentic, bistro food. Unless you are used to a proper steak au poirve, you might find it a bit much but everything was fresh and perfectly cooked and the flavors were yummy. And the service was very good as well. We had 5 adults and 5 children and they didn’t blink an eye over the children. I highly recommend this place.

Good food but INCREDIBLY over priced! The owners know that they’re in a terrible location and that the restaurant is dead 90% of the time. So why are they charging $ 30+ for entrees that are just good, and for ambiance that is cold and claustrophobia inducing? I give this place a year tops.

I like this place for what it is: a simple French bistro with a typical bistro menu. The portions are not huge and the quality is quite acceptable. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. I recommend going with three or four other diners so you can try different items. The wine list is small but there are some reasonably priced Cote de Rhones. All in all after four visits, I look forward to coming back. We usually go here after seeing a film at the marvelous Bethel Cinema next door. Jackie Dejardins is a good chef. I like the idea of a reasonably priced, not fancy French Bistro in the area.

I had the coquelet aux herbs(half cornish hen with vegetables and potatoes) and my friend had the ham and cheese sandwich. The food was good. The service and ambiance were excellent.(It has a romantic atmosphere – great for a date before/after watching a movie next door.) Unfortunately I have to give it a 3 because the serving sizes were small considering the prices. I had to eat a snack afterwards to stay full.

OMG what a gem! A true Frenchman cooking authentic French food! Do not miss this place! We went there on Aug 8, 2014. I had the most amazing mussels and my boyfriend had the peppercorn steak — out of this world. This place needs to be packed every night. Attached to the Bethel Cinema, dinner and a movie will never be the same. The food was amazing. I can not wait to go make!!!

A friend and I stopped in for dinner on Friday night and were blown away. Simple, unpretentious food, flawlessly prepared, decently priced, and did I mention scrumptious? We started with the Steamed Mussels in white wine sauce. The appetizer serving was very generous, and served in a small, light blue cast iron pot that kept everything hot. The mussels were drenched with fresh herbs, garlic and tomatoes. Delicious. Be warned, you will need extra bread to mop up the delicious sauce! The restaurant must have obtained their liquor license by now, because we were able to order wine with dinner – not a huge wine and beer list, but adequate. Our waitress was pleasant, polite and attentive throughout. For dinner, my friend had the Filet De Poulet Á La Francaise(lemon chicken), very fresh with bright lemon flavor. I had the Filet De Poulet A La Normande(chicken in a mushroom cream sauce), and it was all I could do not to lick the plate. That sauce is dreamy. Each entrée had a nice depth of flavor and was well seasoned. Both plates were served with crisp/tender roasted potatoes and green beans. Portions were just right – not too much, but enough to fill you up. Sadly, we didn’t have time for dessert, as we were trying to make our movie at the cinema. Next time, we’ll definitely try it. It’s clear that the food is prepared with care and attention, delicious but also attractively plated. If we had one teeny tiny wish, it would be for a few more menu options, or perhaps a few more specials to choose from. Will definitely be back!

This is a place to appreciate French cuisine without pretense or high prices. The restaurant is cozy, the décor is crisp. I hardly recognized the interior from previous incarnations here. The service is attentive and polite. The beer and wine list is limited. The menu isn’t huge, and there will only be a few specials, but the emphasis is on quality. My Chicken Normandy(Normande) was the first time I had ever sampled a Normandy sauce, and I couldn’t get enough of it. While it went well with the chicken, it went even better with the mushrooms. When I was done, I was using the leftover bread from the basket to get every last drop. The sides — green beans and potatoes, both seasoned and roasted, were also rich in flavor. This is a great addition to the restaurants in the area.

The Bistro is a much welcome addition to Bethel and especially to its location at the cinema. Simple well prepaired bistro cooking is what you’ll find here. Yhey don’t have beer wine license yet so bring your own. We’ve eaten here twice and the second time was as good as the first.

Next and adjoined to the Bethel Cinema Fine Arts movie house, a very decent french bistro. Just opened in November 2013. Charming french bistro interior, and the food I had for lunch was very spot on. Great location for before or after movie. They are waiting for the liquor license, but one can bring their own bottle until then. I gave it a 5 star for the food and interior charm. Lunch and dinner menu. Kids menu too. Casual setting.
