In all the years I have been eating here I have never once been unhappy with my meal nor has anyone I’ve eaten with been dissatisfied. Whitlocks offers such a variety of items you would think that something has to be bad but that is not the case at all. They make their own creamy italian dressing which is like heaven on a salad. If you stop by on the weekend or the beginning of the week, make sure to find out what desserts were made by the owner because you will regret it if you do not. I like to think they are so good because they are made with love however it is likely that she is a talented baker. I strongly recommend Whitlocks to anyone who is looking for great steak and seafood that is not going to break the bank. The entire staff will make you feel like you’re having dinner at a friends rather than in a restaurant.

This is a nice little bar and restaurant… good was good, the atmosphere was ‘local’…the service staff was friendly and accommodating… we shared a couple of appetizers… nothing special or memorable… but good enough to satisfy… I had the burger, well cooked flavorful, and not too expensive. I’d go back, but it’s not exactly a ‘destination’…

Subpar. Nothing exciting. Ordered the seafood (boiled) platter, shrimp, scallops, and scrod all tasted exactly the same. Food was pretty bland, nothing spectacular. Decent price for mediocre food.

I give it 4 stars for being a good restaurant for the working lunch crowd. I don’t care so much for the ambiance – there’s always seating, the illumination’s nice, though the furniture could be upgraded. Courteous and attentive service. The prices are reasonable. The food comes out quickly. The serving sizes are a bit small. Otherwise I’d give it a 5.
Warning: There are only 4 parking spaces in the front. There is more parking in the back. If it’s your first time, you should know that.

Great place!!! Sitting at the bar there’s a good crowd and great bartender. I did not sit in the restaurant. I had the scallop dinner special and the 12 steamed clams. Food and atmosphere was great. Typical New England bar

It’s my ‘Cheers’ bar! I always see someone I know. Very comfortable sitting at the bar alone. Friendly staff, great service. Personal menu favorites: Steamed Clams, Wings, Ribs.

Good food, cozy ambience. The portions are quite large (popcorn shrimp was HUGE). My cajun chicken sandwich was hot and tasty. My husband loved his scrod. Everyone was happy.
We went on the first Thursday for the music, The Fiddlers Brawl, always entertaining. The only thing I’d like to suggest is that the place would foster more conviviality if they were to remove the center wall in the back room. Leave the beams of course; but just taking that divider out would bring the room together and let everyone feel like they’re at the same party, instead of hidden from each other.
A nice addition to the Bethel dining experience.

Food is good, glorified diner food. Service leaves a lot to be desired if you want to sit in the front dining room. waited to long to be greeted and was not professional at all. too bad, since it used to be so good.

EXTREMELY rude and unfriendly staff. Bitter old women who wouldn’t even make eye contact. Took 5 minutes to seat us and place wasn’t even half full. Took another 45 min to get food that was decent, though not worth ridiculously slow service.

Very friendly service! But this is a run of the mill local bar with food. Food was nothing special at all and the atmosphere blah. Not a place for children, though the staff was very sweet to our kids.
Would come back to give it a second try but just wasn’t so impressed first time around.

Terrible service. Seated at 7pm. First beer served at 7:30. Salad 8:45, 2nd beer 8:50 and entrée served at 9:00pm. Tried to order must faster. Good music, and food was better than expected. Have you ever heard of a bar /​restaurant that takes 30 min for one beer and another 1:15 for the 2nd beer? They were overwhelmed on a Sat night with music and a bigger crowd.
