Stayed here June 10, 2016. Got the room free as part of Harris Golf Stay n play package. As noted by others the food was good, staff at night friendlier than staff in the morning. Maybe they were sleeping at the inn too. I say that because our room was right above the kitchen. We played 27 holes of golf so after dinner we were trying to go to sleep around 9:30 pm. The noise made by the kitchen cleaning up was ridiculous. Pots banging and clanging, thumps from Lord knows what. THat went on til 11 pm. Then the patrons started leaving Suds Pub all liquored up and hooting and hollering in the parking lot, oh yeah honking their car horn too. Just when I thougt I may get to sleep the freight train roared through blaring it’s horn. I would recommend, IF you plan on partying all night at Suds and then passing out. other than that, good luck.

Locals who have had a good experience before, made reservations for 7:30, there at 7:25, seated, then finally walked out at 7:55 after waiting, unsuccessfully, for our drinks. Don’t take reservations if you don’t have the staff.

Just got back from a weekend away in Bethel. This place continues to impress us. Stay overnight and get a free breakfast(get the carnivore omelette). Come back for awesome lunch or dinner options. They revamped their offerings and now provide fine dining options. We’ll be coming back for years to come.

Food was nicely prepared. We ordered duck ala orange and veal Marsala. Both dishes were very good. Nice portion sizes and reasonable priced. Excellent chocolate cake. Service was somewhat slow but friendly. Atmosphere was quiet with candle light and quiet music. We sat on the lovely enclosed porch along the street.

Can’t beat it for the price! 10 minutes to Sunday River to ski and 2 good restaurants on site(Bistro 151 upstairs and Suds pub downstairs). We stayed in the carriage house(room 50) in a dog friendly room. It had a big bathroom, it was clean, warm and fine for basic accommodations. Not a luxury inn, but for the price it is a great value. Would definitely recommend to a friend and would come back again.

The staff were amazing! The person taking care of my room even went to the super market for me! The breakfast that comes with the room was wonderful, best blueberry pancakes I’ve ever had. The Inn part is much nicer than the carriage house I was in, comfortable but not worth 100 dollars a night. Overall it was a lovely experience and would go back again!

Very nice dinner by the gas fireplace in the dining room. The food was delicious and the room was warm and cozy on a cold winter night. One of the more pricey restaurants on Main St., I think, but worth the splurge.

My family and I came here to celebrate our 5th year anniversay. The food was very good and the staff was extremely friendly. I’d take my family here again.

My boyfriend and I and our black lab stayed at the Sudbury a few weekends ago. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the carriage house(Room #40) which was dog friendly. I was a little bit nervous about what to expect since there were very few pictures online of the carriage house but the Suite ended up being pretty nice. We had a big master bedroom with a king size bed, large bathroom with a stand up shower and a cute 2nd bedroom with twin beds. The thing we liked the most about our room was the proximity to Sud’s Pub(about a stone throw away) which we went to nightly for a beer nightcap(they have a great selection of beers on tap). The Suite is up some very steep stairs though and probably would not be best for little kids or the elderly. Staff was friendly. My only complaint would be that the cable in our room didn’t work for the weekend although Scott the owner did try and fix it and he offered for us to switch rooms which we didn’t feel was necessary. Overall a nice and quaint place to get away for the weekend. Breakfast was great too-more selection on the menu for guests then at your usual B &B.

The SI is a great convenient dependable and lovely place to stay in the best little ski town on earth. We have stayed in both the main building and carriage house. We LOVED the adorable ambiance in the carriage house– instantly cozy and convenient amenities for a family weekend away. Great rates too! Staff was perfectly helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend to friends. Twin beds were a little hard, but I am overly icky in that department. Give the SI a try next time you are in town!

Haven’t been upstairs for breakfast or dinner since new ownership, but the Suds Pub is still good. Portions are smaller, prices are higher, staff is less friendly. Joyce is the best waitress. Mug club is a disaster(don’t ask!) Generally good place and open for lunch now in the summer.

As foretold the muscles were amazing. Almost fluffy, and the sauce was so good you could eat it was a soup. Entrée i got a lobster, which was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and the very friendly, but not over friendly. If your in or near bethel and you cant find a good restaurant. This might be the only one around.

We had our new year’s eve dinner here. It was a prix fixe 4 course meal… so I can’t really comment on what the cuisine is like normally. Everything was great other than the crème brûlée — rather disappointing hence the three stars.

Nicest. People. Ever. When we arrived after a long and rattling drive from Boston all we wanted to do is shake off the road and have a glass of wine. We had stopped at the liquor store and bought one of our favorites and as we carried it and all up the stairs the woman who checked us in called me back and said, «I see you have a bottle of wine there. Let me grab you some glasses.» It seemed that there was no other concern with any of the staff the entire time than our complete and total comfort, as if we were the only ones at the inn. Our room was small but cozy and breakfast was delicious. We’ll be visiting The Sudbury Inn again!

The most gracious, sincere, accommodating staff I’ve ever encountered. The Sudbury Inn is in the heart of Bethel, a quaint New England town conveniently located next to Sunday River mountain and the Androscoggin river. The B&B is old but well maintained, The décor appropriate for the building’s age and style without making you feel like you’re in your grandmother’s house. It is comprised of two buildings. the original hotel and a converted carriage house. The main building has a large dining room/formal restaurant as well as the towns best casual pub, Suds Pub(see separate reviews). The carriage house is separated from the main building by a parking lot and has 3 units, one of which has an amazing stone fireplace and is large enough for a large family get away. The included breakfast was hearty and delicious. I didn’t eat in the restaurant but the menu looked good and the prices were very fair. The place is pet friendly and this is where the staff really shined. They are not just pet friendly but I’d say they are truly animal lovers. We got there early with our cat(let the crazy cat people jokes begin) and our room was not ready. They were more than willing to put her cage behind the small reception desk and keep her entertained until the room was ready. Then they moved it to the carriage house(separate building), covering the cage with a jacket to keep the snow and wind off her, and put her in the room in a cozy heated corner. There are other cute lodgings in Bethel but the Sudsbury Inn is quaint, centrally located, has great dining options, and the best staff ever.

Food: 3.5÷5 Ambiance: 3.5÷5 Services: 3.5÷5 Prices: $$$(avg 25/person) Located on the main street of the small quaint town called Bethel. This old but very well maintained building housed the Inn with rooms upstairs, restaurants on the ground floor and a huge pub/restaurant in the basement area. While waiting for our table, we went down and have a quick look at the pub, its definitely happening here, very interesting setting with a small corner for live music and it was packed. Apparently, this is a very popular local and tourist hangout and i dont blame them, it definitely looking good in there even if you come alone, you bound to meet and mingle! Now on to the restaurant. We waited for about 45mins for our table by the window in the enclosed patio. If you are planning for a romantic dinner for 2 or just in a company of 4, I definitely recommend to have a table in the patio, great ambiance but i cant say for the rest of the restaurant. We started with a glass of Prosecco, just the right wine to freshen up our appetite. The partner ordered the Broiled Seafood Sampler with the suggested wine pairing of Chardonnay. Very generous chunks of seafood — scallops, shrimps & lobster on top of rice, look like saffron rice. To me this dish was a bit blend, the lemon butter and wine sauce just didnt stand out enough bring the dish together and it could have been helpful if they spiced up the rice too… For me I went for the night special — Lamb Osso Bucco, i try not to pass this dish if i can especially when its the Night Special, that mean they cook them fresh(i hope)… There were few parts of the meat that was not as tender but overall the flavor was pretty good. The mashed potatoes and grilled veges were a great accompaniment to the heavy taste of the meat. I definitely recommend this dish whenever they are offering it for the night… We ended with the Night’s Dessert special — Warm Apple pie with ice-cream. You cant go wrong with this dish and it was yummy but again, the ice-cream just not Blue Bell(what with me and Blue Bell, and no, i do not own any stock of this company, i wish)… Overall, I recommend anyone that is visiting Bethel to check out this place. Basically, you dont need to go anywhere else, just book a room there, have dinner and then hangout in the pub downstairs, that will be a holiday weekend well spend!
