Next Phase Group Exercise Studio

This is my second time coming to the Abs & Butt class and I am very pleased with the studio and Andy (the owner).
Andy taught both of the classes and he is extremely welcoming and helpful in class. He takes his time with each of his clients and makes the time breeze by.
I have visited multiple high-​end studios in the Maryland/​DC area and this one by far has the nicest staff. It also is extremely clean and smells great which can be hard for fitness places to do!
I will for sure be coming back again and again.

Impressive. I hate taking classes as I’m a bodybuilder. However, Andy was extremely welcoming. Even though we were from out of town, he treated us with respect. I’d definitely return if I lived locally.
As for the class, it was challenging. Didn’t realize how weak my core was until taking the class. Andy was full of energy. He is very straight forward with the class. He encourages others to push harder.
I had a blast, and the first class was free. Great times!

Before coming to Next Phase, I never tried a fitness class. Between the trainers, facilities, and variety of classes, I kept coming back.

Absolutely love this place. I found out about next phase on class pass and bought a package as soon as my three class class pass limit was exhausted. After my first TRX class, I fell in love with Courtland, one of the instructors. My second time there, Andy (the owner) knew my name and was so personable and friendly. I’ve taken various TRX classes with emphasis on different body parts (abs and butt) and classes that incorporate other things like kettle bells and bosu balls. Really a full body work out every single time I’m there! So, make sure you try the TRX with Andy, body defined with Andy and Courtland and the sculpt and stretch with April. The first class is free which I also really loved. The workout is always incredible and it’s a feel good zone.

I love Next Phase! Andy and all of his instructors are awesome! I have done many classes at this point and have only positive things to say to say about each one. They hire very talented instructors who also care about doing whatever they can to help you. They remember your name, give you individual feedback, and truly go above and beyond! I especially like Yoga Flow with Catey, Sunrise Circuit with Scott, and Body Defined/​Metabolic Conditioning with April. But you really can’t go wrong here. Classes are different each time so you don’t get bored, and, as I said, highly customized to suit all levels. The number of people in the classes varies, but usually you have a pretty small group. Even when it’s larger, the instructors are so good that you still get the attention you need.

This place is awesome. Every time I walk in I’m greeted with a «Hey, Kit!» and a high-​five from the owner. It’s probably the most positive studio I’ve ever been to. You really get the sense that people here are like a family.
The classes are really fun — I’ve worked up a serious sweat in Zumba, Cardio Hip Hop (like Zumba but only the hip-​hop moves) and Dance Cardio (which even used weights during one song). There are people of all ages and skill levels, from ex-​dancers to people just there to have fun and burn some calories. I’ve heard good things about the TRX and Body Defined classes, too.
I also appreciate that the studio is so bright and super clean. I’ll definitely be coming here every time I visit my family in Maryland!

I cannot say enough good things about Next Phase! I’ve tried TRX/​Bootcamp/​Kettlebell classes all over DC, but I have to say Next Phase is the only one that keeps me coming back. There is nothing like walking into a gym/​studio and being greeted by your name, with a smile, a joke, and some questions about how you are doing. Next Phase (thanks to Andy, the owner specifically) is a place where you always feel welcome and always leave feeling worked out and sore the next couple of days. The facility itself is awesome. The studio has a ton of natural light and is big enough to accommodate the breadth of classes Next Phase has to offer. The locker rooms and bathrooms are always clean and really nicely decorated (not something I care about at all when I’m working out, but it is so nice I feel compelled to write about it here). They also always have fresh flowers, again, not necessary to my workout, but the little touches are awesome and worth mentioning so at least the Next Phase staff realize it is appreciated and noticed. Also they do have childcare if you need it.
I like that the clientele is a wide range of ages and abilities. If you are one of those people who isn’t super athletic, but wants to find a safe place to start working out for the first time, or again after a hiatus, then this would definitely be the place for you. Also if you are an athlete and used to intense workouts, this is also the place for you. Each instructor is cognizant of the levels of students in their class and gives ways to either modify or challenge each person. I have an injury from playing sports in college, but I’m able to modify as I need in all the classes I’ve taken, without feeling like I’m missing out.
My only caution is that if you do try a class, get ready to come back because you’ll be hooked.

I’ve been going here since they’ve opened! I love Cardio Hip Hop (basically like Zumba but with Hip Hop music) with Madison. I’ve taken Zumba with Devon and Alexa as well. Both really good. Hard Core with Robin and Body Defined with Andy (the owner). Love all the classes! Definitely sweat a ton! The studio is very nice and clean. Andy does a great job getting to know everybody that comes there. Buying packages online is very easy. Prices are reasonable and affordable. I love this place!

I went to a Zumba class at this studio tonight for the first time. IT WAS AWESOME. Seriously, this is a wonderful studio with a really nice owner and great facilities. The class was challenging and fun and the studio was big enough to comfortably accommodate everyone. The prices here are amazing. The kind of amazing that you get used to not seeing in Bethesda. I really can’t say enough good stuff about this place. If you’re on the fence, do the free class and I would bet money you’ll end up leaving with a package like I did!

I began taking classes here about a month ago upon the recommendation of a friend and a Gilt coupon. I had been «fitness-​less» for awhile after leaving my prior studio for a variety of unrelated reasons and really missed working out. My friend was spot on with her recommendation! Andy, the owner, really tries to get to know everyone who walks in his doors. I have had the opportunity to take several classes here including Barre Balance, Body Defined with TRX, Butt & Abs, Cardio Hip, and Zumba. All have been excellent. No matter which class it is, I break sweat and feel like I got a workout.
The workouts are all co-​ed although I have yet to see a man in my Cardio Hip Hop or Butt & Abs classes. They have definitely been there for Body Defined and I have seen them coming out of Hard Core. I have been fortunate in that several of my friends take at least one class a week and many bring along their boyfriends/​husbands.
You can sign up ahead of time for classes on their website and your first class is free when you sign up online. As new types of classes are added to the schedule, they are often free for their first time. Additionally, locker room and water are all available for patrons, as well as childcare. Parking underneath the building is convenient and at a fair cost ($ 0.80/hour).

I wasn’t happy with my gym membership, so I ended it have been taking classes at Next Phase ever since. Signing up/​paying for the classes online is easy. There is a good variety of classes that are held throughout the day/​week.
The classes themselves are great! Upbeat… challenging… I always leave feeling like I just had killer workout. Added bonus, Andy creates amazing soundtracks for his classes. I can’t recommend Next Phase enough.

I’m a recovering cross-​fitter and switched to doing boot camp style classes at spinning studios and recently came across Next Phase. I’m highly impressed by the instructors. They seem to be true fitness professionals who are knowledgeable and organize solid, challenging, but doable classes. Looking forward to making this place my regular spot.
