Great service, decent breakfast. My husband liked his greek omelette

Chipped beef gravy was like wallpaper paste super thick, gross. Coated in pepper, that’s all I could taste. There was no one in the restaurant you can hear the beeps of the microwaves.. That’s not what you want to hear when you know they are cooking your food. Went at 7am. First time we saw it open, they Have odd breakfast hours. Food was crap. Had to listen to the waiter have a convo with the register guy about how he almost threw up once he knew what was in scrapple as I ate my own order of scrapple.. Said it was good like country sausage until he found out what was In it.. Then he wanted to puke.. Half the lighted chandeliers didn’t work. It’s got a really bad 80’s vibe to it.. Wife got eggs, French toast was made from day old French bread. Overall. Not Impressed and won’t be back.

Love this diner. It’s the best out of the 3 cheap diners in Bethesda.

Food was really very average. I had ordered for pancakes with strawberry and when i got my order they said that they dont have fresh strawberries and gave me jelly instead. They are really good diners out there. I would rather try some other. Good ambience though for hanging out with friends for a casual chit chat for breakfast.

Really, a 2.5. Met a friend here for breakfast and was super happy to see that they had scrapple on the menu. Scrapple is probably the black sheep of breakfast meats, but undoubtedly the tastiest! I ordered 2 eggs soft scrambled with scrapple and toast. Nothing fancy. Eggs were ok, but bland. They gave me a puny little piece of scrapple, but it was crispy and tasty. I really wanted a refill of my coffee but the waiter disappeared and didn’t come back until we were ready to go. I love diners but this one just didn’t really do it for me. May or may not return.

My wife and I are breakfast-foodies. I’ve had Feta and Spinach omelette at many breakfast spots from diners to fancy restaurants and the Old Georgetown Grille knows how to make our favorite omelette correctly. With the chopped spinach in the egg, it neither overwhelms the omelette or fills it with a log of spinach. Unlike most breakfast places, they don’t skimp on the feta. If you don’t like finding a big roll of soggy spinach stuffed into your omelette, this is your place. Home fries are good, with green pepper and onions, light and not greasy. The toast. Toast from other places doesn’t even compare to the toast here. Its light, crispy and not at all soggy. The service we have experienced has always been pleasant and prompt. My wife would drive all the way to Bethesda just to eat breakfast here. That’s a long drive from North Carolina(I suspect she meat DC). She’s been going here for more than twenty years, since she was a child. Breakfast for two here is one of the best $ 20 you can spend.

Unimpressed. I’m sure this is satisfactory for the post-church crowd, but as for anything different, interesting, or enjoyable, I’d direct you elsewhere. The service is slow and inattentive, from the time someone actually came around to our table, to bringing coffee, to our meals. Slow slow slow, and I’m not a demanding person. The food was very average, certainly something we all could make in our own kitchens. Not expensive, nor should the food be, considering its mediocrity. The portions are appreciable, however. So if you’re looking for a a bite to eat with no frills, yeah Old Georgetown Grille would work. Even the decorations are humdrum. Reminds me of my grandma’s feeble attempt at decorating. As I said, no frills. No frills + extra waiting time. Yay! What a pleasure.

LOVE this diner! Great prices, solid food, amazing staff. Not to mention the convenience of location. Family-owned makes this for a personal and pleasant experience. This place blows Tastee and Silver Diners out of the water. Highly recommended!

It’s a diner. Plain and simple. If you are looking for solid diner food with healthy options and great service it is worth it. This place is a hit of a hidden gem that mostly neighborhood folks know about and go to. Much better than any diner options in downtown Bethesda or Montgomery county for that matter. Been coming here for years and have converted a number of folks who are now fans.

This is a solid diner as most reviews note. It’s cheap by LA, SB, and NYC diner standards. The coffee is meh. The service is good and it’s a quaint little place with curtains. The clientele is brainy. In two hours(I was stuck in Bethesda waiting for a meeting at 1:45), I heard such sophisticated discussions. One was about real estate and the other about the Diocese. Three friends, the youngest of whom was 55 and a former teacher at GW now involved in health care I think(it seems that she’s always the one who has to help deal with powers of attorney for sick friends), prayed before they ate. This was twice in three meals while in DC that people said grace. I come from WLA, heavily Jewish and secular, so you don’t see people thanking God before they eat. I think the older woman was this lady’s mother and then another woman, black, from church. They were talking almost exclusively about priests they knew all over DC and other cities, so they may have some peripheral function in the Catholic Church. They had traveled all over, at least the younger woman who had been to Singapore, Vietnam and other far-flung places. My omelet was a B+. The potatoes were blah. But if you like bacon and sausage at breakfast, which I don’t, both looked quite good.

What happened to this place? I should’ve known when I walked in at 7 am & I was the only customer. Food was bland. Cooked wrong. Ordered the gyro omelet, add spinach and *crispy super well done* home fries. I emphasized the CRISPYWELLDONEALMOSTBURNED part cuz that’s how I like them. Home fries were mushy. I asked them to cook the home fries CRISPY a 2nd time. 10 mins later they brought back the same mushy home fries. Ugh — never mind. I didn’t eat them. I initially first thought they completely forgot about the«gyro» part of the omelet. I only saw them when I went digging through the glop to FIND them. Omelet was bland. Too much oil. A little greasy even. Couldn’t make a dent in the thing. I think I counted 8 tiny slivers of gyro in the omelet. TOTAL. Like ¼ the size of my fingernail, per sliver. The«Where’s the beef?» commercial came to mind.(Where’s the lamb?). Toast was okay. Never got a coffee refill. Waiter never checked on me. Not once. Did I mention I was the ONLY customer in the joint? Check was $ 13. WILL *NOT* go back. Ever. I will try & post pics of my mushy home fries and gyro slivers.

My last visit to Old Georgetown. I have eaten here many times but over the last 4 – 5 times it keeps getting worse. Today slow day but eggs cold no flavor in hash browns. Service is not polite. My bill was $ 9.55, sorry this is above cheap and I classy dinner needs to nail breakfast. Seems like the team feels way to comfortable with Ok. But I need. Hot fresh breakfasts. No more for me.

The OGG is a solid diner in Bethesda and my personal favorite place in the area to get a traditional breakfast(eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes). The prices are reasonable and the service is quick.

It was fine. The food was good but nothing special. Perfect for if you want regular diner breakfast food. I would place it exactly in the middle of the spectrum of breakfast places. Eggs Benedict is as gourmet as it gets on this menu, although there are a number of international foods represented, including some Greek and Korean flavors– I think there was a gyro meat omelet? I didn’t try it but it sounds intriguing. I got the French toast breakfast special #3. Very reasonably priced at about $ 9, and it included 2 slices of French toast(brioche bread, not challah, which was a nice surprise), 2 eggs, 2 sausages, AND2 pieces of bacon! Most places you have to limit yourself to one meat, which is basically un-American. Everything was good. The egg whites in my poached eggs were undercooked, but I made it out unharmed. They need to work on their service– the waitress was very inattentive despite the fact that there were only 3 other tables in use. It took half an hour for us to order, and getting the bill paid was a whole other ordeal. PS: Interesting people watching– there were some real characters in this place!

The service was just so… gosh darn mediocre. It was strong to start off with. She came over, got our drinks orders in quick. But then when we asked for a minute to look over the menu, we got 15 minutes. Finally able to flag the cashier who she was talking too. He informed her that we were waiting. Which was good and all, so she came over apologized. I guess, honest mistake. We were one of four tables in the place though. So… come on. We got our food quickly after that. Then we wait wait wait to get our check. I actually had to make eyes with the cashier again who she was talking too. Then after we get our check. It’s another 10 minutes before she picks up the credit card off our table. Uggghhhh. It’s just plain annoying. That being said. I get a bagel(it was a generic plain Thomas’ bagel)… which I’m fine with. I like those soft bagels. The home fries were cooked well. Tasty and not over-cooked. And my chicken noodle soup, though a little bit salty, was delicious… and was actually chicken and rice soup. My friend had a french toast special that came with 2 eggs anyway, sausage, AND bacon. She said that it was good. Her poached eggs were a LITTLE underdone. But overall the meal was good. Hoping service issues were a sort of one time thing. Oh… and the place could use a thorough cleaning. Not the cleanest place I’ve ever seen.

Nice for a cozy, casual Sunday breakfast. Nothing awesome though. I ordered the pancakes because they looked really fluffy and pretty but they ended up being dry and flavorless(even after I doused them in all of the little butter cup and almost half of the maple syrup squirter). Sausages were good, I dunked them in maple syrup(but then again when isn’t that tasty?!). Bacon was soggy. This would be a fine place to go if you want to chill out in a cozy diner, but the food doesn’t wow.

Great coffee paired with service that makes you feel comfortable. I value places that make you feel welcome and comfortable(that your business is appreciated and valued). They served a great breakfast to our group with excellent cups of coffee. The service also made us all say we would be back. Great people who care.

This place is classic. Closest thing to home cooked breakfast you’re going to get in this area. Love the omelets and the cream chipped beef. They get a plus for always having hot sauce on every table. Servers here are incredibly nice too. Definitely recommend.

Many years ago, I had breakfast at Old Georgetown Grille. I couldn’t remember why I did come back. Last weekend, I took the family there after hair cuts, and suddenly remembered. Tucked away on the corner of Old Georgetown Road and St. Elmo Street, the restaurant looks like a traditional corner restaurant – a step up from a diner but nothing fancy. Back in Pennsylvania, we would call it a ‘family restaurant’. The menu is again, nothing special. For breakfast there are be basic bacon, eggs, and pancake breakfasts. The rest of the menu consists of burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and house specialities. What we had wasn’t very good. My wife tried the lox and cream cheese. It was average. We got my 18-month old pancakes. They tasted like the were a prepared mix.(They actually were. From our chair we could see a case of the mix sitting on a shelf opposite the entrances to the restrooms.) I had chili dog. The hotdog part was fine, but the chili was not good at all. The worst part of the meal was the neither my wife nor I felt well afterwards. When we are at a restaurant and it doesn’t sit well with either of us, something is wrong. Worse than the was the service. Everyone there, especially the guy at the register, who seemed to be the owner, acted as if we were very lucky to be there and that they were doing a favor by letting us eat in their establishment. For the type of restaurant they are in the area they are in, there is no excuse for an attitude like that. I won’t say you shouldn’t go here, but it really isn’t my favorite place. Try it out and make your own decision.
