Two stars for the nasty woman who screwed up my order. Usually a 4 star food experience. I try to make it over to Vace about once every 2 weeks or so for their subs. Very good, excellent portion, great price. Hint: Do not order from the surly older woman. Today I ordered a turkey sub lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. How you are out of tomatoes at noon, I don’t understand, but whatever. Usually its no lettuce on Mondays — again, bizarre. So she asks me 3 different times if I want other items — oil and vinegar, hot peppers, etc… On a turkey sub? Eww. Anyway, after walking the 10 or so minutes back to my office I now have an Italian with mayonaisse. Not a turkey sub. I certainly would have ordered the oil and vinegar and hot peppers on an Italian. It’s too hot of a walk back, but honestly, if you are going to be surly, at least get the order right. I will never order from her again.

A hidden gem! This place is tucked away and is take out only, but OMG. I stopped by the NIH for the day but was in my own for dinner. When I saw this place was next to a wine shop, I put it all together and made a dinner plan for myself. I got a medium pizza with several toppings and it was amazing. Everything written about how good the pizza is here is true. Will come back in the future for sure.

What isn’t to love about this place? OMG! I hesitate to write this review, as I don’t want it to become more popular than it already is. The food is cooked to order, fresh and absolutely amazingggg! And on top of that, you really cannot beat the price. Lots of options… Sandwiches, deli items, single slices, whole pizzas, Strombolis, and so much more. The staff is very dedicated, and never turns over. Unsure if the place is run solely by family, but I come here often enough that I always see the same staff. Additionally, they have fresh items to purchase, such as homemade pastas, lasagnas, garlic bread, etc. Onlyyyyyy downside I can think of is no seating! However if you’re in the area, you really can’t beat this place. Best pizza I’ve probably ever had!

Parking is very limited since this is tucked in an alley by the Capital One Drive thru. I love the prosciutto sandwich on focaccia bread. They give you the option for domestic or imported prosciutto(it’s worth the extra for imported). I’d like to try the pizza next time.

Amazing little spot. Really a pleasure to see the family at work delighting customers! Killer subs Great breads Terrific pizza by the slice or whole pie They make homemade mozzarella daily Awesome frozen store made pastas and sauce Love the lasagna in meat sauce or spinach and cheese! Take and bake so easy. Very Italian collection of cheeses, antipasti, olive oils and more Modest selection of beer and wine Seasonal deserts and chocolates

Parking situation: A couple of spaces in front of the store, 1-hour street parking behind the building(which is accessible via walking using Capitol One’s drive-thru). Tip: Their front door is a little hard to open, so you might have to pull harder than you’d normally expect to. Having a lot of faith in the fact they’re an Italian market, I decided to give this place’s pizza a go. I ordered two larges; one fresh mozzarella with prosciutto and one with salami and pepperoni. The prosciutto was probably the worst I’ve ever had, if I’m to be honest. They were thick-cut overcooked little chunks which surprised me because I thought it’d be a thin layer of meat nicely laying on top. I have nothing against little prosciutto chunks, but they just weren’t great here. The crust was a chore to eat, too; hard, greasy, and bland. Despite what I think of their pizza, their cured deli meats and frozen pastas seem promising so I might check those out next time.

Some of the best pizza in Bethesda. Everyone is nice and talkative and the other items are delicious. Vace is a great store and I love it.

First of all, I have no idea why this place has 4 stars. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and meatball sub. The pizza was bland, greasy, and the pepperoni was odd tasting. The sandwich was burnt on the outside, leaving the roll rock hard, and they chop up peppers and onions and mix it in with the sauce, which I did not care for. If you want a true Italian Store, check out the Italian Store in Arlington, it’s 100 times better than this hole in the wall.

Best pizza in town. Better than Amy’s. Sorry I gotta say it. When I order a pizza, I want to eat more than the dough.

This is a small place, but it’s great. The staff are very friendly. You can order pizza on the phone and pick it up(don’t make the mistake we made our first time and go in to order, you’ll wait 20 – 30 minutes). They also sell other Italian goods like pasta, pesto, dough, etc. Very authentic. If you’re looking for a good pizza or just some good ingredients for dinner, come here!

I’ve found my new pizza place. My wife(an Italian-American pizza snob) and I(your standard American pizza snob) ordered a large pizza with extra cheese, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil. The pizza cost $ 16 with all three toppings, but they could just as easily have charged double that price because this was the best pizza I’ve had since I moved here 3 years ago from Philly(hometown of my number one slice). But it is the only one I will ever go to as long as I live in Bethesda/DC(there is a location in Cleveland Park too). The ingredients were incredibly fresh, the dough was clearly never frozen and perfectly flavored, and the cheese was the real deal. The sauce is notably fresh, a clearly simple but pleasantly perfect combination of crushed tomatoes and herbs. The location serves as an Italian market as well, with frozen homemade pasta dishes, tiramisu, take-home gelato, and classic pizzelles, as well as delicious Italian meats. You’ll also find some beer and wine for sale, in case you’re looking for a one-stop shop. I’ve ordered from here twice since the first time, and they’ll see me plenty more in the coming months.

I love living right around the corner from this great Italian market/pizza place! Their pizza is to die for but so is their selection of frozen meals and grocery items! I especially love their homemade fresh pizza dough and pizza sauce(although it’s a little on the watery side). Their frozen shells are also great. The price on their domestic prosciutto is very reasonable and all of their deli meats are delicious. And fresh pasta… yes please! Haven’t actually ordered a sandwich there but I hope to soon since they’re so affordable! My only complaint is that the service isn’t super friendly but that’s okay. I’ll be back enough that I’m sure we will be friends soon.

Delicious pizza! My in laws got this pizza for their son’s fifth birthday last fall. Recently we stopped there to pick up pizza before going to their house in Bethesda. The pizza is fresh and zesty and they have a great selection of Italian products and imports. They also have red and white wines available. There are only 3 parking spots I think up front but it’s worth it to call ahead and pick up.

Great little local deli. Probably has some great sandwiches but we haven’t tried them. 100% take-out, and by take-out I mean there’s barely anywhere to park and absolutely nowhere to sit, even within a few hundred feet outside. Review is mostly about the pizza, which is… a lovely thin crust, very crackery, but so-so on the toppings– good selection but a bit scanty on application. Maybe this is much more authentic Italian pizza than I’m used to? I’m more than happy to admit that this may be more an unfamiliarity of style on my part.

This tiny place has some exceptional products. Basically good quality Italian restaurant food to be prepared at home at Whole Foods price level. Square footage to awesomeness is off the charts. The pizza is good, as are the frozen homemade noodles and entrees. Also the gelato. And the meats.

My wife posted review describing our horrible customer service experience at Vace on Saturday night. Unilocal decided to bury her review because it’s algorithm did not think it was a «helpful review.» I am re-posting her comments here, and you can decide if this is helpful: «If I could give negative stars, I would. My husband and I went in at 7:15pm on a Saturday night and ordered a pizza to go. After waiting until 8:00pm in the store, the staff informed us that they had forgotten to put the order in. Not only that, they said that the kitchen was closed and they could no longer make it. Did they run out of pizzas? The staff handled the situation very poorly and offered a lackluster solution to the problem — a refund. After wasting 45 minutes in there all we wanted was the pizza. We were in shock over the lack of customer service. What a shame — we live in the neighborhood and had enjoyed Vace in the past — but never again.» Shame on Vace. Double shame on Unilocal

Every year around Halloween my entire office has a pizza party. This is funded solely by the office and our«Sunshine Fund.» With that said we usually have a budget around $ 180.00 to feed 57 people 9give or take a few). In the past we usually have chosen to go with Corner Slice, however, my director specifically asked for me to order the pizzas from Vace this year after experiencing it herself. I ordered about 13 pizzas from them the day before and when I went in to pick them up the next day there was a line of customers waiting. Please note that this place is quite off the beaten path and looks hidden. If it wasn’t for my director, I would have new known that this place existed or that fact that the inside of this place was an actual authentic Italian store. In addition to being an awesome pizza place, Vace serves as a small Italian Delicatessen that sells specialty Italian ingredients such as fresh mozzarella, freshly-made cannoli, shells, tubs of filling, lasagna, Italian cold cuts, Italian wine, turkey sandwiches, fettuccine, pizzelle cookies and empanadas. The pizzas here start at $ 10.50 for a large which is 16 inches and serves about 8 pieces. They charge extra for all and any toppings. Some of their toppings consists of: mushrooms, onions, spinach, roasted red peppers, garlic, tomatoes, capers, roasted black olives, jalapeño, feta cheese, pepperoni, sausage, meatball, ham, genoa salami, sopressata salami, anchovies, extra cheese, extra sauce, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke, Kalamata olives, basil, pancetta, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, ricotta, and pine nuts. Our pizza was amazing. Everyone loved it, not one person complained. I didn’t have to wait long for pick-up and everything was ready when I got there. **Please note that Vace does not have any seating so be prepared to take out. They are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 9pm, Saturday from 9am to 8pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. You can call them to place an order at 301−654−6367 and view their website at .
