Some of the best Chinese food in the valley and we’ve tried them all. It has a casual and relaxing environment. Most of their options are Szechuan style, which is typically more spicy than traditional Chinese. But if you can handle medium salsa you’ll be fine with any of the standard dishes.

The food was excellent. The service was excellent. I knew I came to a good place when I see a party of a dozen young Chinese eating and laughing. The dumplings were very good as was the Szechuan pork. The server brought me a spicy cucumber dish his complement. Very nice.

I can only comment based off the meals from the traditional side of the menu. I wouldn’t make a special trip for«Chinese-American» take out food. I’ve had a nice sampling from the traditional menu and have enjoyed every bite so far. The service, although friendly, is SEVERELY inattentive. You will be sat immediately and you will get your drink/food order in quickly but you will never see your waitress again. I’ve been here about 5 times so far and that has always been the story. Once you have your order, you won’t even see them with your bill. You have to walk up to the front counter to find out the damage. I am giving it 4 stars based solely on the great food and deducting the 1 star because of the terrible service. I’m not very needy and don’t need to be spoiled but a refill or a to-go box would be nice once in awhile.

Start off by saying the booth tables are kind of high to eat comfortably, food is delicious overall!

Shrimp dumpling noodle soup is good when you’re feeling down. We also ordered the shrimp and veggie dinner and asked for it spicy. They added tons of fresh garlic and spice. Def worth asking for spicy… so good! Basic items like fried rice/lo mein were on the bland side though.

Had a few more amazing dishes at Red Hot I can totaly recommend the Chong Qing Spicy Chicken if you like a flavorful dish and the Salt & Pepper squid is also a great dish… don’t be scared order of the Szechuan menu if you want it less spicy just ask…

One star because I haven’t even been able to try the food. Stuck in a hotel about 2 miles from their location and they won’t deliver. I’ve tried several times and every time it’s the same excuse, «We’re short a guy tonight, sorry.» If you plan on trying this place, don’t count it coming to you.

Stopped into red hot while in town, and I must say I am pretty impressed. The pepper steak is delicious! Great food and great price

This is «authentic» Sichuan cuisine in this area, but not 100% authentic as it is not spicy enough. The price is competitive and amount is reasonable. But the performance of the chef varies too much. I’ve been to this restaurant for several times and find that even the same entrée taste different every time! What’s worse is that, the waiter is not promptly and friendly enough. You are likely to be kept waiting for minutes before they notice you.

Try this place. The flavor was very good, service was polite if a tiny bit slow but the food itself came out quick. It was full of flavor, had a decent kick as indicated for the dish on the menu. They MIGHT become my go to place for delivery when I actually have a $ 20 order.(Their minimum $ 20 bucks with 2 miles) Personal issue… I do not like egg. That’s a personal preference not shared by a whole lot of people. The fried rice here is laced with it. That’s not a problem for my review as many others may consider that a good thing. Next time I’ll have the white rice or ask if I can get fried without the egg. Any way bottom line is check them out for yourself. They’re a little different than most of the Chinese places in the area. There are some crazy and I assume authentic Sichunan dishes on the menu as well as flavorful versions of the Americanized dishes we’re used to. Four and a half stars could see 5 in the future. I will try them again.

Great hole in the wall. I ventured here on a business trip based on the Unilocal reviews, food was fresh and delicious. I tried the Shrimp Dumpling Noodle Soup, which was big enough for 2, plan it as a meal in itself or share with someone(not sure how you share soup?). I also had the Szechuan Beef dish, this came in a bowl of sauce over veggies and had a nice kick, not five alarm fire but on the spicier end of the spectrum. Also had the Pork Fried Rice instead of white rice, so good. Rice was light and not at all greasy. Portions were huge and after the big soup I ended up taking most of it home. The place is low key and not much on ambiance but the food more than makes up for it. Would definitely come back next time I am in town.

I wanted to give this place a higher rating but the main dish I had would’ve been 100 times better if it was deboned. This is the only place I’ve found in the Lehigh Valley that offers frog as a main dish. It gave me a chance to cross another exotic food off of my foodie bucket list. As an appetizer I tried the cold noodle in spicy sauce. This was killer hot, I can see why this place is called Red Hot. I had to tranquilize the heat with some duck sauce packets on the table. It was a thick noodle with scallion & a chili sauce. Honestly had I just gotten this and another appetizer I may have been happier. But I chose to try the sautéed frog with peppers, garlic, chili & white rice. When I initially ate a batter dipped piece of the frog I crunched down on a bone that had I swallowed probably would’ve cut my throat. So I individually by hand ate around the bone, made my meal last longer and although I thought it was tasty I just wasn’t fond of having to eat the bones as well. Unless it wasn’t chopped frog, maybe I was eating baby frogs I don’t know. The meal followed with a much needed amuse-bouche of an Sliced Orange and a Kung Fu Panda Fortune Cookie… Good but not perfect and probably just a little too spicy for my taste buds these days. Worth a check for the adventurous foodie but I won’t be returning. I must say though I am usually leery of places that are empty that tend to get a million positive reviews, the service aint that great either especially for no customers. and what’s up with the front window that you can see out but you can’t see in?

Red Hot is a solid chinese restaurant, but the reason to go here is for the Sichuan dishes on the Chinese side of the menu. From the wontons in chil oil to the double cooked pork the food screams flavor and fire. Complimentary cucumbers with chilis begin your meal, and you can get great dishes like tripe as well as dry pot rabbit. This is a gem in the Lehigh Valley that is not to be missed.

I’m a NY’er who happened to be in Allentown for the weekend and looking for some place good to eat. After reading the Unilocal reviews decided to give Red Hot a try. I have to say this was the best Chinese food I’ve had in a very long time. We ordered the shrimp dumpling noodle soup, which for an appetizer, was enough for 2. I also ordered the Kung Pow Chicken, which was excellent. In the past, I would never even considered eating Asian food outside if the NYC area. Staff super friendly.

I’ve only had their takeout but I refuse to go elsewhere. I’ve tried most of the Chinese takeouts within driving distance of East Allentown /West Beth and no one touches this place for these reasons: 1. Fresh — clearly made to order 2. Clean — no question they use clean tools and grills, no old oil, no freezer burnt materials 3. Authentic — this is not your corner Chinamerica eatery. Genuine szechuan with best ingredients. 4. Fair Price — generally same price as the mediocre places 5. Kind Staff — they work with you, often add bonuses, and clearly enjoy serving the best If you live within 20min of this place you no longer need any other Asian eatery in your repertoire. Red Hot is the real deal.

The food is deelish!!! By far the most authentic Chinese restaurant in the Valley. They mainly serve Sichuan style cuisine, thus not suitable for everyone, especially if you are not used to spicy and hot dishes. The ambience and location are below average, but I was there for the food, so it doesn’t bother me. Sooooooo glad that there is finally a «real» Chinese restaurant here.

My daughter and I got food poisoning here last week. I found out after the fact that 2 friends have gotten food poisoning here as well. Funny thing is, the food didn’t taste so bad. It is very very spicy food. We figured maybe that’s they’re trademark hence the name Red Hot. I’m left wondering if they use extra spice to cover food that is contaminated. I can’t know for sure but I’d stay away if I were anyone thinking to try the place. I missed 2 days of work.

It’s hard to find the perfect Chinese food place, but I think this place has got it down on the food flavor! I was super excited to try a new place for Chinese food, I haven’t had a really good place for a long long time and I had a craving for it. My +1, Adrian, said he found this place on Unilocal(he’s learning so well) and we should check it out, so we did. This place is open until 11pm on a Friday night. Win. It has a lot of seating, A LOT. So don’t worry about not having a place to sit, maybe worry how long it will take but not where to sit! The menu has two sides, one more«American Chinese» and the other more traditional Szechuan. I am not a spicy food eater, or a meat eater so I went with the«American» side and ordered vegetables in brown sauce with white rice — no need for meat, but I love brown sauce. He ordered a curry of some sort(I need to start writing down what he gets for our reviews). We got the steamed vegetable dumplings for our appetizer and WOW! ORDERTHESE! If you like meat, well order it with meat but wow these were so delicious! And they’re so big! We didn’t finish them all before our meals came out, which was a distraction from my meal. My meal. Good. Lots of food for both of us, his was HUGE, it came in a very large bowl with not enough rice to go with it. He said it was spicy, probably, maybe too spicy for him but I don’t want to undercut his spice handling. I liked my meal, but it wasn’t nearly as flavorful as the dumplings so I kept going for those instead. Tons of different veggies in my meal and I was really happy with it. The service could be better. It was slow getting our check and boxes to take home. I think it was because it was so late and they were eating too, but we were content. It didn’t take long for the food to show up, just getting to leave was a little longer then we would have liked. BYOB. They don’t open the wine for you, fyi. Good place for food, even late night!
