The tuna jalapeño nachos are incredible!!! Bartenders are excellent… reasonably priced… I definitely recommend it!!!

Look up «mediocre» in the dictionary, and I believe there’s a picture of HR Singletons next to it. We’ve ended up here several times with family/friends who seem to like it better than the Mrs. and I do… but each time we walk away wondering what it is they find special about it. The place is dark and just doesn’t seem clean. The food? I think I prefer Boston Market across the street.

Won’t go there– owned by Singh– need I say more. Just google the corruption going on. Will not support any establishment owned by him.

The moment I walked in I smelt burning food. I ordered the steak medium rare, but it came well done. The service was good and the wait was not long. I would not suggest this as a go to restaurant, but if you like your steak well done, HR Singletons is the place for you. Another option that is close by is Sals Place, which offers a better tasting meal.

Ordered the $ 10 lunch. So if you get take out, you’ll only get 2 courses instead of 3 courses. Their server said«I don’t make money from take outs.» The lobster roll lack any lobster flavor. The fries were average but came with no sauce. Didn’t even supply any napkins or utensils.

The prices are great and the food was good. Service is rude. The old lady who I assume owns it is rude and creepy. Once we were done eating a cockroach crawled up on the table. They didn’t give us anything for free or even care that there was a bug. Definitely not making a trip to come back.

Inattentive service, poor management and disappointing food. We waited over 10 mins to be offered a drink, over 20 for food, and wait for it… over 20 mins we sat with empty plates in front of us waiting for it to be removed. What really put the icing on the cake was when had to get up and find the manager, an older lady, to retrieve the check and she snapped and said, «What do you want out of this?» I guess she sensed our frustration and thought we were looking for a free meal. We were not. We paid the bill, left a generous TIP still, but we will not be going back.

Everything was delicious from the appetizer sampler to the seafood stuffed shrimp. The service is great, the food is fresh. I recommend if you’re in the area and want a great experience on a casual night. Looking forward to trying the Sunday brunch!

Came here about two weeks ago with the family to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Not terrible, but disappointing so we won’t be going back. Décor is nice and we were seated in a roomy corner booth, but it was very dark and we had to use a flashlight app to read the menu. Ordered a chicken sandwich and fries and it was possibly the blandest chicken sandwich I’ve ever eaten. My sister’s chicken parm was burnt. The dessert menu was a joke… misspelled crepes as «crape» so upon opening the menu all we could do was laugh at the«fresh made crape.» Also something called a «chocolate bag» which had a description below that didn’t make any sense. After inquiring, the waiter explained it’s a sundae served in a chocolate molded box. Why is it called a bag? No one knows. Please PLEASE someone rewrite this menu using logic and spell check!

UPDATE: DONOTPATRONIZETHISPLACE. PLEASEREAD/SEARCH NEWSDAYFORHARENDRASINGH. HEISBEINGHELDINJAIL for five counts of honest services wire fraud, one count of honest services wire fraud conspiracy, one count of federal program bribery, one count of disaster relief fraud, two counts of conspiring to defraud the United States, one count of impeding the Internal Revenue Service, one count of tampering with evidence, and one count of obstruction of justice. Now on to the original review… {sigh} — I used to really like this place. However, it has sadly been declining over the years. I tried it again with the family. It was a snowy evening and somewhat on the quiet side at 6:00pm. There were several empty tables at the time we arrived. But, for some reason the kitchen cooked as if they had the night off. It was sloooow and arduous. Orders came out wrong… not just our table but others around us as well. Here is a quick(or not so quick) hit list of my complaints/peeves and observations… 1. Water brought to the table — there were 5 of use seated but only three waters poured. We had to ask for the other two glasses. Why? Was the person pouring the water not able to see how many guests were seated? 2. The menu is not too creative. The selections and options are very unimaginative and, quite frankly, boring. 3. One guest ordered the steak and shrimp dinner. Then the waiter asked which steak, she answered filet mignon. When the entrée was brought to the table, she only received the filet and no shrimp. We had to ask for the shrimp. 4. One guest ordered The House Burger. The menu reads: THEHOUSEBURGER…11.95 a short rib-brisket blend perfectly season with our secret sauce, served on a brioche roll served with lettuce, tomato and pickle. NO special secret sauce, and served on a boring sesame seed bun. Wheres the brioche? No energy to argue and send it back. So, it was eaten. 5. The Rigatoni ala Vodka — looked like it was 5 days old. Tasted that way too. 6. Waiter asked if we would like anything else. We responded by saying sure, we would like some dessert. He says what would you like? I wanted to say«Uh…how about you let us know what you have first. But the nicer person in me simply said«can you bring us a dessert menu?» 7. Waiter brings the menu. The menu looks like it’s printed for the legally blind. The text was so large…(not necessary a bad thing at this point in time of my life). But I look down and thought I would order the«Fresh Crape». Hmmm, not sure what a «Fresh Crape» is. I wonder if it’s anything like a Fresh Crêpe. How can I order something from a place that doesn’t know how to spell it? How fresh could it be and what would a Crape taste like? Crap? The desserts were small(Key Lime pie and Cheesecake) 8. My final complaint? It’s now February 21, 2015. This is the day we visited the restaurant. Why in the name of Santa Claus would there still be Christmas décor over the fireplace? This is the ultimate sign that a restaurant has given up and no longer cares. Dr. Singh, it’s time for a new manager and much needed surgery at your restaurant. It desperately needs someone that is passionate about the business. This is sad and I am disappointed for you.

I thought this restaurant was great! The service was very efficient and friendly. We had a groupon which got us to try the place. My boyfriend ordered the swordfish and he is a big foodie! He loved it. The creamed spinach and potatoes were perfect also. The bread was fresh and warm too which I definitely use to judge a restaurant. I recommend the baked clams also they were seasoned very well. The noise level was perfect for good conversation. The ambiance and wood finish on the booths and tables were lovely too. The lighting is dim but bright enough to read a menu and see. It can be romantic in the restaurant and also a bar and more casual area. The prices are moderate and the manager honored my groupon even though I bought it while I was there. I will certainly be back very soon!

The lunch special is pretty good for $ 10! Unfortunately, I think that’s the only real nice thing I can say about this place. The parking is horrendous despite the spacious parking lot, even during lunch hours, so I’m sure it is impossible to park during dinner hours. I went with a party of four, so we tried all of the appetizers they had for the lunch courses, which were good overall. The baked clam was especially good. The different beef entrees they had– the English cut steak, tips– were mediocre. The seafood and pasta were overcooked and not good. The drinks and dessert seem overpriced, it is probably best to skip them altogether. The atmosphere needs an update. Everything looks really old and grimy. The service was pleasant but slow. Best fit for the senior citizen crowd that want somewhere to eat and hang out without paying for too much.

avoid at all costs and I will never go here or to any of the sister properties like Thom Thom. Refills are not free! Food is NOT fresh. Pros: The steak had«okay» flavor. Cons: Everything… my major complaint is don’t say your food is fresh when it isn’t. –salad is pre packaged and tired. It’d be marked reduced at the super market. I have a feeling it just sits plated in the refrigerator. –fries, sides, veggies, and mashed potatoes are all frozen. — 7 dollar upcharge for 5 poorly cooked overly salted small shrimp. — The food is over priced. — chewey and poorly cooked steak. I doubt that it was fresh. If so, that was the worst unfrozen steak I’ve had. — Service was horrendous. Had to ask for bread and water was left unfilled. The waiter doesn’t tell you that you have to order individual drinks. The staff spoke little English. –ordered a Sam Adams and they were out. They didn’t attempt to make it up in anyway or even recommend another comparable beer. –owner came over to us and asked about what we thought. Told her it was okay because we didnt want to make a scene and she talked very loud, but then did chat to her on the way out. Told her all the above and she offered a free dessert cake… HA. On top of that it was an insencere attempt to find out what’s wrong. In closing, don’t come here. Its absolutely horrendous for the price or any price. It’s basically diner food in disguise. I absolutely hate misleading advertisement. This is as «cookie cutter» as it gets. I’m upset I’m giving their other businesses money and a lot of it on New Years Eve. Will never go back to this or any of their other establishments.

This is the type of place you’d imagine to find an older crowd at or take your older relatives to for that(early) family dinner. The one thing that’s missing is the discount coupons in your weekly circular to justify ever wanting to come here. Flat out, the menu falsely promotes freshness. I ordered a daily special shell steak that included a soup or salad. If I had paid for the refrigerated plate of bitter romaine lettuce and julienned carrots I would be even more upset but thankfully it was«included». I’ll tell you what’s not included though, drink refills. What family dining restaurant in the US doesn’t offer complimentary refills on fountain drinks or iced tea? What honest waiter asks if you need a refill or another drink and not disclose that it was by the glass? On the upside, the buttery topping on my steak was pretty yummy. The steak was decent but nothing I’d come back for. I was also starving so that might have had something to do with it but really, it would’ve been just OK without the extra fat and char. My mashed potato side and steamed vegetables were luke warm but I quickly thought to heat them on the hot skillet my steak came on so that made them more enjoyable. The mashed potatoes and veggies were bland. Once again, the buttery sauce and meat drippings revived the vegetables.(…I’m starting to sound like Paula Deen now, shame on me!) The owner stopped by to find out how our food was well after we were thru. There were a number of things we addressed with her after paying but she was only willing to rectify by saying we should’ve sent it back or she’d give us a cake. Yes, it’s true, they’ve been in business since 1996 now. I’m guessing that it’s because the area is so populated it’s a reliable backup because no one would or should volunteer to eat here. That is, unless you’re entertaining people who enjoy mediocre service and bland food with a classic, cherry wood ambience.

Had another great time here. Their crawfish nachos are huge. You can easily feed a few people off them as an or even a main dish. They have delicious onion soup! It’s good and there was so much cheese. Had good service again. It can get loud if they’re crowded and it was but no so bad that you’re miserable and can’t hear.

Was here for a family function in one of the private back rooms. The room was freezing, not sure if that was the restaurant’s doing or if my family just kept it very low inside. I had eaten the chicken, some salad and fried calamari. The chicken was all very tough and not very good. The food was kind of cold and they had left some of our dirty dishes on our table throughout the whole event. Eventually the coffee came out and was also pretty bleh, all the while they kept bringing out cold water for tea. We eventually had to ask for hot water from the back because they didn’t have any ready up front. Speaking of water, they also didn’t have any at the tables, only soda. I had to keep heading to the bar a few closed rooms away for seltzer/water. I’m not sure why there wasn’t water at the table, I think perhaps they have some aversion to it. lol. I wouldn’t go back, and I hope to not have anymore family functions here either. We had a nice time due to the occasion, but boy was the food lacking.
