Not the same place, now called Beverly Hills Thai. Also, they’re now a certified kosher kitchen. And all the other customers appeared to be orthodox Jewish people. They offered gluten free choices and said they knew what it meant and handed back my triumph dining card without looking at it. I’m not sure how careful the kitchen is about cross contamination. We ordered Pad See Ew(not on the menu, but offered by the server) and garlic chicken. Tasted good and portion sizes were plenty for the two of us. Interesting dynamic and pretty good food if you’re in the area. The menus say they are able to accommodate food allergies and special diets. There was a family with two kids dining there and the staff seemed very helpful to them with ordering to accommodate the kids. They were also ordering things to take home with them for later.

Eat It OR Beat It? **BEATIT!!** Pictures are very deceiving. When I first entered the restaurant, I thought it would’ve been bigger instead it was a small restaurant with a VERY small shady-looking kitchen in the back. The service was nice but if it weren’t for my Groupon coupon, there’s no way I’d come back. Oh, and COLORED paper menu’s? Décor is small, nice, and intimate, but food is very PAR! Green Beans(Pad Prik King): The green beans were a lot on the salty and greasy side. Boraan Curry: The curry was not very hot to begin with and quite frankly, it didn’t taste anything special. Boraan Fried Rice: The fried rice was just like any ordinary fried rice. While I was eating it, the consistency of the taste was very off. Some parts of the rice was salty with taste and other parts of the rice were bland? Mix enough while cooking why don’t you? CONCLUSION: This restaurant, which is located in Beverly Hills(residential area), should say it all. Prices were overpriced and clearly the target market is for the affluent Beverly Hills community who don’t know much about Thai food since it’s probably the only and closest one in the community! Just take a look at the menu-items online and you can see that if they’re charging $ 20+ menu items, that’s absurd especially when I can go down to Thai town and each much BETTER and more reasonably price food. Go to Palm’s Thai in Hollywood. You WILLNOT be disappointed. Avoid Boraan because it’s not even acceptable… maybe if it was $ 10 cheaper I’d give it 3 stars.

Before I begin my review, I want you to know, I had dinner here last night at about 7PM. It is now Sunday, the next day, around noon, and my mouth is still on fire. I, an easily bored human being, am in constant need of new things to supress my ADD sensibilities. So, one of the easiest cures is to find new gems in the city for me to eat at. It appeases the ADD and allows me to not eat the same shit over and over and over again. This is why I have slowly become a fan of groupon. If I am not sure where to go next, I whip the old android(screw you iPhone automotons!) and hit the Now Deals button. And through the magic of technology and black magic wizardy I am offered a plethora of places to eat, with a discount, of course. But I digress… So, I hit a few magic buttons and VOILA! I am here at Boraan. The place is small, perfect for a cozy date, the ambiance is nice, and to top it off, since it is located on Burton Way, the parking is easy. When I entered, there was only one other couple eating in the corner. I sat at a small table(Amazingly I was dateless and by myself. Just because I am single doesn’t mean I should eat fast food!) and was instantly approached by the waiter. Nice guy. I decided to order the Curry Chicken. I asked him which was best. Yellow, red or green. he said that the Yellow was the least spicy, so Bob’s your uncle, I ordered the Yellow. Thank the lord I didn’t order the red or green. About 10 minutes or so later, it arrived. It looked and smelled amazing and it tasted INCROYABLE!.. Except for one small thing, it was so F’n hot! I mean — Oh sweet Jesus! Please send an angel to vanquish the demon in my mouth! — hot. After about 3 diet cokes and all the rice, and the crocodile tears for my mommy, I finished the dish with a painful, but fulfilled smile. I would come back, definitely. I just need to clarify that the food be less molten lava-esque.My bill was $ 16. Well worth the tasty suffering.

The portions were extremely small, but pricey($ 10+ /dish or closer to $ 20 with seafood). The food was ok — it’s nothing special though. I came here with a Groupon, and at ½ price it was probably worth what I paid. However, I would never return at full price. Especially, since Thai Paradise in San Gabriel and Palms Thai in Hollywood have WAY better AND cheaper food. The parking outside is metered, but they are free after 6PM.

I’m going to preface this review with the fact that I’m a SGV transplant so I’m typically pretty picky when it comes to reviewing asian cuisine. Now that being said, I came to this place with a Groupon after being forced to relocate to the westside. I had low expectations going in since I had read some mediocre reviews about their quality, and asian food on the westside is overall pretty pathetic. Their décor was very nice although slightly awkward since it didn’t quite fit with the food. The place is also very small, which makes me wonder what happens if there is ever actually customers. That being said, husband and I went for dinner on a Friday night and it was eerily empty the entire time. There is only street parking but it is free after 6pm, which is a bonus. I hate paying for parking. Their food was nothing special at all, although I was surprised that they actually had somewhat decent portions. Two of the dishes we ordered, the pad thai and spicy fried rice, were extremely oily, down to the point that there was oil puddling at the bottom of the plate. There was not much flavor in the dishes and the noodles were an odd mushy consistency. The staff was adequate but not friendly. Now here is the biggest problem I have with this place. My parents used to own a restaurant so I understand fully the importance of having a clean restaurant. Walking through the kitchen, I was slightly horrified by how dirty and messy it was. There were open sauce containers, vegetables, and food scraps all over the counters. I’m not the biggest stickler for the health grades since I know asian restaurants have a harder time maintaining the grades due to cuisine preparation, but really? Anyway, the Groupon made the experience okay, but definitely not returning. I guess I’m sticking to my SGV or hollywood thai locations.

This is a very small place and I would definitely recommend making evening reservations. The food is good but they have no liquor license, so don’t go expecting to have a cocktail. The service is great and the ambiance is intimate and inviting. I went for lunch and can verify that the green curry is tasty and the Mandarin chicken is delightful. I also had the sampler platter and I must say that the chicken satay is super yummy! Two people for lunch = $ 44.00. Not bad… I checked out the dinner menu and it seems a bit pricey for Thai food. I guess you have to take into account the Beverly Hills zip code. The food is good and I’d certainly recommend a leisurely Saturday afternoon lunch at this venue.

Purchased a $ 25 certificate for a few bucks so I thought it would be an nice/economical place to take my girlfriend and her sister visiting from out of state. We Ordered: 1. 3 Thai iced teas 2. App sampler 3. Shrimp papaya salad 4. Duck curry w/brown rice 5. Seafood pad Thai Loved the TINY dinning room, made me feel like we were eating at the chefs house. Service was unspectacular but acceptable. Now for the food… Boraan is certainly not a ‘greasy spoon’ lunch combo Thai joint. The appetizers came on a long white plate and each had its own sauce. The Satay was nice and hot(Thai restaurants fail here all the time) and delicious, the dumplings tasted store bought, the spring rolls were rolled very tiny, like Moroccan cigars and tasted ok, and finally this taro root loaf that smelled and tasted AWFUL. If I were served these apps in a plastic container, I would have been overpaying by 8 bucks… but served with artistry and nice accompaniments, I have to say I enjoyed it. Shrimp papaya salad was fine although we requested MILD and it still had enough punch to burn out the ladies. Also worth mentioning that the shrimp was cooked perfectly and was a decent size(u21 or so). Duck curry flavor was very nice but the duck itself was a bit fatty and there really wasn’t much of it. No different than the corner Thai joint by the office… The seafood pad Thai was different, served with calamari and mussels along with 2 tiny bay scallops and a couple of shrimp, the seasoning on the noodles was VERY light and gave the seafood room to express itself. Although the flavor was more sophisticated than most, it lacked the fire, tamarind, and dry shrimpy goodness that real pad Thai delivers. Unfortunately, the noodles turned into a block of mush in a matter of minutes and I ended up covering the dish in sambal left over from the apps just to keep my palate interested. Even with the $ 25 certificate, i ended up spending $ 65 and felt a bit cheated. The pad Thai, an $ 18 dish was disappointing and the $ 2.75 a pop for the tea turned out to be a mistake(boring and too sweet!) THEYCHARGEDMEFORRICE! I HATETHAT! If I had to pay $ 90, the star rating on Boraan would be lower… Fancy food doesn’t have to mean smaller portions and nickel and diming people never pans out well. Just because a plate is dressed up doesn’t mean patrons expect anything less than a fulfilling, delicious experience. Unless management takes time to understand the area, its TRUE demographics, and ultimately what the folks in this neighborhood are looking for, Boraan is doomed to fail.

Not worth it even for the groupon. I purchased the $ 20 for $ 40 groupon a few months ago thinking I’d be able to save monies. We were actually able to order quite a bit of dishes, one appetizer, two main courses, and one dessert. The pad thai was okay. The flavors were good, but the but the noodles did not have the chewy-ness that pad thai noodles normally have. Instead, the texture reminded me of phở :[ The beef panang was so blah. It was super watery. I was so disaappoiinted when the dish was brought out. Before the waitress set the curry on the table, i could already tell that it did not have the thickness that I love in curry. We also ordered two small bowls of rice. So small that I could literally finish the whole thing in three spoonfuls, but I didn’t. We got some coconut thingy for dessert which was probably the best dish of the night and it happened to be the least expensive item we odered which was priced at $ 8.99. All the dishes were pretty small because we were actually able to finish all the food. After eating, we asked for the bill. I was shocked and apalled that the total price at the bottom read $ 17.99. They charged us $ 1.95 for each bowl of rice(or it could have been $ 1.75 cannot remember), Still, almost $ 4 for rice. And last of all, they charged us 20% for gratuity! Final Verdict: I had to pay a total of $ 37.99($ 20 for groupon and $ 17.99 as punishment for using the groupon) I could have used the $ 37.99 and could have fed my whole family of 6 at the delicious thai restaruant near my house and still would have had leftovers. The food was not good and it was expensive. I don’t mind expensive food, as long it’s exceptionally good, but it was not. booo hooo.

Super teenee tiny but cute thai restaurant in beverly hills. Been here twice and I must say I love their food. The only thing thats missing is that they dont serve wine. Its more of a casual dining and dont get intimidated if you see BEVERLYHILLS coz their prize are very reasonable. About 40 – 50 for 3 different dishes and drinks plus rice so not bad at all. Service is good, the place is clean. I’ll definitely coome back! ooooh now im craving for thai food…

Went around 3:30 pm on a Saturday, so we were the only people in the restaurant. It’s very cute, small and cozy… had some r&b tunes playing, kinda odd for a Thai restaurant but I like that kind of music so I didn’t mind hah… We ordered: — duck roll appetizer: similar to Vietnamese spring rolls, but poorly wrapped and was only ok, not worth the $ 10 imo — that’s what we get for trying something new! jk… — a cup of tom kah soup w/chicken: very yummy!!! I would have been happy w/just that — pad thai w/chicken: nothing special, but I love pad thai so it was still satisfying — green curry: a bit bland, and would have liked more vegetables in it We had a pretty decent amount of leftovers. It was ~$ 50 total, which ended up being ~$ 20/person after using a certificate. Probably would only go back if we were using another certificate. It also took foooooorever for our food to come out. At least 30 minutes… which is a bit ridiculous considering we were the only table. Although the owners’ lunch came out before our food, so I guess they were busy cooking that first? There’s metered parking in front of the restaurant and ample one hour street parking on Wetherly, I think it was something like 8am — 7pm Mon-Sat. Since we were here for my friend’s lunch break, that was just the right amount of time for us, but if you’re planning on being there for longer might just want to stick w/the meters.

Boraan is a nice small cozy Thai Restaurant in Beverly Hills. Since it’s small, I would recommend making a reservation. We were able to find street parking but I would imagine this could be difficult during their busy time like dinner time on a Friday or Saturday night. We ordered the pad thai(good but nothing to rave about), the boraan combination rice(average for a rice with a combination of meat), and the soft shell crab panang sauce(GREAT, aromatic and flavorful). Overall the food is pretty good but not worth the price. However since they don’t have a liquor license it’s BYOB and they don’t charge corkage! I would come back here if I was in the area, craving Thai food, and had a certificate. Otherwise, it’s not worth driving from downtown for.

If you are a Thai restaurant, there are 2 things which you must do well — Curry and Pad Thai Noodles, Period. I’ve had both here and both are sub par! The Pad Thai lacked flavor and the noodles did not have the correct chewy texture that we love about Pad Thai Noodles. Did I mention the small portions? Yellow Curry is a classic Thai dish. Why is it that mine was almost like a curry broth –too watery! Yet, the carrot and potato piece were so undercooked that they were still slightly crunchy. Runny curry and undercooked vegetables? Also, it was again under-portioned. Furthermore, $ 2.50 for a can of soda, no refills because it’s a can. Well, shouldn’t that then be a $ 1.00 soda at least so ppl can get another one? I don’t drink soda myself, but when I see my friends paying $ 2.50 for a 12 oz can of coke, I can’t help but cringe. The service is good though and the waitress is always really nice. I guess you can get away with serving anything in Beverly Hills. I don’t suggest going here for Thai food.

This place is definitely overpriced(but what do you expect for Beverly Hills?) — If it wasn’t for Groupon, I wouldn’t have gone here, but thankful that I had the chance. It’s a cute lil place that is easy to miss(thank goodness I knew that beforehand so I made sure to look for it). The pad see ew with beef was good, very flavorful & the yum woon sen salad was tasty as well. The thai tea was good(and I’m really picky when it comes to thai tea). For the deal that we got from Groupon, this place was definitely worth a visit. Was it memorable enough to come back and pay full price? No.

My first impression was, «Cute little Thai restaurant, but nothing like the pictures!» Check out the website, and you’ll have an impression of what to expect on the web. But once you get there, that is if you find it, it’s a whole different story. It’s a small little restaurant with some booth/chair seating, and I believe it’s run by a couple. David C put it perfectly in his review«they really put the ‘hidden’ in hidden gem.» I totally agree. It’s very«hidden,» and we all know I LOVEHIDDENGEMS, but this one is more like a «hidden DEN,» really, the seating area like the size of a small living room. It’s very small, okay, I have no problem with that. I love little, quaint restaurants! But either be that small, cheap, hole in the wall with great home style food, or if you’re going to make it all fancy and expensive, and do your job and complete it! I wasn’t too impressed by their menus, and especially the food. I had a variety of different dishes from their menu, but it was bland, greasy, and a lot of the food came out cold. I went to the back to use their bathroom(really small, but unique) and saw the kitchen(it’s wide and open for you to see as you pass by), and it was not sanitary at all. There was a cook in the back with this big cart full of sauces, and it was a mess. I felt a little ripped off paying this much for food that came out from that kitchen. I absolutely adore Thai food, but I feel like they skimped out on all the seasoning, spices, and authentic flavors Thai food has to offer. I say pass on this one. The lasting impression? «The food was alright, not HORRIBLE, but because they give you that quality of a meal with that price, it’s a ‘Thai food gone wrong’ moment for me.»

Overall, fairly impressed. The locale seems a bit off since it strays away from what I view as Beverly Hills. I’ve driven by this restaurant every day on my way to work but never noticed. Reason being? It’s pretty hidden and fairly hard to notice if you’re not walking by. They really put the«hidden» in hidden gem. The service was great and I thought their pad see ewe was some of the better pan fried noodles I’ve had in a while. I would like to consider myself a Thai Iced Tea connoisseur and I have to admit, they ranked pretty high on the list. The secret to great Thai Iced Tea? The right ratio of milk to tea, not too much and not too little. Check this little joint out if you’re in the area or happen to stop by Cedars-Sinai for one reason or another. Otherwise, there’s not much else in the area

3.5 stars but I’m feeling generous and rounding up. One promising sign of an authentic Thai restaurant is when you walk in and the waiters/waitresses are speaking to each other in Thai. In this instance, Boraan didn’t disappoint as a good Thai restaurant. I’ve lived in Bangkok for several years so I’ve had amazing Thai food straight from the source. Although Boraan didn’t entirely match up, it wasn’t near bad at all, and a billion times better than the«Thai» food around USC. The restaurant is located somewhat randomly along Burton, but parking was not an issue. The only thing was parking is to know what time it is and to stop feeding the meter after 6. I got there at 5:40, and way overfed the meter because it automatically stops acknowledging time/money put in once the time hits 6PM(or when it becomes free parking). Boraan is a relatively small restaurant with beautiful décor; very clean and simple. The staff there were friendly and attentive, but that may only be the case because aside from my girlfriend and I there was only one other person at the time. We had Mee Grob, seafood Pad Thai, and Yellow curry. All were really good. The Mee Grob was sweet and light and a great way to start the meal. The Pad Thai was also pretty good, but in my opinion needed to be at least somewhat spicy(which it wasn’t at all). The yellow curry –always a can’t go wrong dish at Thai places– was also really good, and had a little bit of spice. All in all, Boraan is a good Thai place and well worth eating at. Go to and buy their gift certificate if you plan on eating with a large group or want to try several dishes.

boraan is a very intimate, gorgeous restaurant.(i sometimes like to judge my restaurants by observing how much care they put into embellishing their restrooms… LOVE the tile in there. even the fixtures and lighting — yep i coulda stayed in there alot longer than i needed to… you could almost call it a sacred space.) but back to the food, which is what my stars are solely based on. it’s delicious, but no fireworks. PHO — not as humongous as your typical traditional phở serving. it would be good for 2, even 3 to share if they were ordering other dishes. i didn’t find anything different or special about it compared to any other phở that i’ve had. it was delicious, but since this was a thai restaurant, i thought it would come with a thai twist. it didn’t, which doesn’t make it disappointing, but it’s just that if i came here to eat thai food, i’d order thai soup. but that’s just me. anyway… * DUCKCURRY — this is my standby dish. they did very well here. the duck was tender and all the ingredients balanced with the basil, tomatoes and pineapples. **DEEPFRIEDWHOLECATFISH — deelish. it comes as a whole fish. crisp outside and moist inside. served with 3 sauces. one is a sort of soy sauce with chopped small green chilis, another which was a sort of tomato salsa with fish sauce and probably some brown sugar… and the third was like a sweet soy sauce. i enjoyed the last two best. wonderful dish and beautifully presented. ** BEEFRADNAH — flat noodle with garlic-bean sauce and chinese broccoli. tons of flavor and tender meat. i would order this again. *** SOFTSHELLCRAB — this was probably my favorite dish. served tossed in a curry sauce. i would’ve liked it with more heat, but that’s where the spicy condiments come in to help save my dinner! SEAFOODPADTHAI — typical pad thai, but with seafood, including crab meat, mussels and calamari. although it was as good as any average pad thai, unfortunately, i found the calamari tough. this is a great spot for a date, take out or a small get-together. the setting is beautiful and service is friendly and very attentive.

Never again. I came here a lot for lunch. The lunch specials have been decent. Decent food. Decent service. I’d give it a 4 for lunch. The reason why I am giving it two stars is because of the frustration I am having with this place the 4 times I’ve done takeout here for dinner. I don’t know if they switch up the chef, change their staff at night or what but takeout dinner has sucked royally. My first bad experience was when I ordered takeout, and when I got home I realized they screwed up and give me someone elses order. Frustrating, but I told myself -«well I’m already home. It’s too much of a hassle to go back. I’ll just eat this». It was putrid food! The second time, I started to order my favorite dish, but the waiter convinced me to try their pepper rib eye steak. So I went with the suggestion. Again it was takeout, and when I got home, I opened my dinner to find that it was the cheapest quality steak you can get at a supermarket(NOT rib eye). It was a tiny piece too. When they said pepper steak, they meant it. They literally doused pepper on it and threw it on a grill. The price? When I paid $ 18, I was expecting something of higher quality, and bigger. Very very disappointing, especially since the waiter convinced me to order this instead of my traditional thai favorite. After both of these incidents, I should never have come back. But I was craving thai. And this place is in a convenient location for me, on my way home from work. So I figured, maybe the first two times were flukes and that there’s no way this time could be worse. This time I ordered my favorite thai dish, the Pad See Ew. When I called in, the lady was extremely rude. She must have been annoyed at something because she had an abrasive tone, and asked me to repeat everything 5 times(no exaggeration). I even spelled my name out three times. Then she told me the order would take 40 minutes! This place is usually completely dead at night so I couldn’t see how a plate of pad see ew could take that long even under busy situations, but I didn’t gave any complaint. I showed up for takeout and it was as dead as I’d imagined it would be. There was only one couple at the restaurant, no other takeout bags waiting besides mine that I could see. When I got home, hungry and started to eat, I discovered a crunch to my pad see ew. Pad see ew? crunchy? I realized that there were eggshells in my noodles. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times or more, we’re all idiots. Sorry but I am never coming here again.

The food i fan-freakin-tastic here! The Pad Thai, delectable. The yellow curry, something to die for. Sort of a bowl of soup, but i would swim in it forever! Prices are amazing too for BH. Thank being said. When people here say service is terrible, they acutally mean it! Go figure. There were only two waiters, full restaurant. The waitress wouldn’t even look at us as we’re giving her the death stare to take our orders after half an hour. I only get one lunch break biiiaaattchh! by the time we finally got to order, i asked for our check at the same time, lol. The food came out after my lunch hour was over. But like i said, the food ROCKS. Just make sure you have time to spare.
