I love this salon. And Elgin’s assistant Miss Porsha is professional, fast and great. I will recommend this salon and Elgin and his assistant to anyone! Thanks

I purchased Indian Wavy hair in 14 inches and I am thoroughly thrilled with my purchase. I believe all hair sewn into a weft will shed slightly. Elgins hair may shed like 1 or 2 strainds at best! I LOVE the softness, color and the overall movement of the hair amazes me! I purchased hair of this high quality before however hair like this is so very hard to find. I intend fully to purchase more hair from Mr. Chales’ Salon. I highly recommend it, the store manager Arlene is also wonderful to talk with.

I loved Elgin & his staff was very nice. I loved what he did with my hair and I plan on returning soon. I did have 2 tracks come loose almost immediately and I’m sure Elgin would have been willing to see me immediately to correct it, however, I wasn’t willing to drive the 3 ½ hours to Beverly Hills for him to fix them. I suggest you buy the hair elsewhere and he will work with you. If you can afford it get the hair right from Elgin. I did and I’m very happy with it.

I went here for a full head of highlights on recommendation of a friend from the area who’s hair Elgin had saved from some bad bronzey color. I was unsure since his product line focuses so much on curly /ethnic hair but his stylist Sean did an AMAZING job on my hair. While in the salon I saw a celebrity and it was kind of annoying that the whole salon was fawning over her. To the haters below — wow, I don’t know who Nikki was but it seems like you may have had an unusually bad time. I saw such a different side of things. As for«LV» — most high end salons serve alcoholic beverages for their clients so it’s not like you’re paying extra just for that. it’s a high end place. Anyway, BEST. HIGHLIGHTS. EVER. seriously, if I lived out west I’d still be blonde & would be coming into Elgin’s every 6 wks for Sean’s magic. Highly recommend.

I must say I have NEVER experienced such a pure GHETTOSALON in my history of salon experiences. This place is over-priced, over-rated and OVER-DUE for an upgrade! These stylist should be working at a SALON on Vermont and Manchester. To top it all off they serve and partake in ALCOHOL while working. No wonder my bill was 300+ for a weave that looks like somebody did it from YOUTUBE! I guess I’m paying for the BEVHILLSTAXES and the ALCOHOL tab because my WEAVE was not worth $ 20.00!!! Okay, this happened a very long time ago-but I will NEVER forget how poorly I was treated at this salon. I was getting a braid job by a stylist by the name of Nikki. I made the mistake of paying her in advance at least $ 100 dollars for a cornrow job. I specifically showed her the size and style I was seeking, and she rudely insisted that it wasn’t what I wanted-it was what she thought was best! This lady was so ghetto and rude, I could not understand how she ever got a job working at this supposedly prestigous salon in Beverly Hills. I would not let her do what she wanted with my hair and take my money, so I stopped her and asked for my money back. After having waited 3 hours for her to get to me, plus she refused to give me the type of style I was asking for, it just wasn’t worth it. But, she refused to give me my money back. She did not do my hair nor did she give me my money back. One of the stylist, didn’t want to give me a scarf so that I could wrap my natural hair. Not to mention it was 8 o’clock and I had now spent 2 hours arguing with this rude ghetto freak who called herself a stylist. To make matters worse, I approached Elgin Charles, the owner the next day, and he did NOTHING to give me back my money or anything. All he said was that Nikki is an independent contractor and all he could do is offer to give me a weave at a good price. So he was trying to charge me additional money, like THEYTOOK $ 100 dollars of my money and DIDNOTHINGTOMYHAIR!!! Seriously, this was a nightmare. To top it off whenever I called to speak to Elgin the girl Nikki would get on the phone and say Bitch stop calling. I proceeded to file a small claims lawsuit against them, and the only thing that stopped me was that I had a death in the family and had to prepare to leave town. I just want to say to anyone seeking a great hair experience or a new salon Please AVOIDTHISPLACE!!! These are a bunch of BOURGIEBITCHY, GHETTO people, trying to be Elite in Beverly Hills. They have no class, and no sense of respect for their clients. And, THEYARETHIEVES!!! If Elgin Charles could allow someone so vile like Nikki to work as a braidist at his salon and allow a new client to be treated so poorly, then he’s a jerk! And all he cares about is himself and not the client. Elgin Charles SHAMEONYOUANDYOURBOURGIEBITCHYCREW!

The place is small but comfortable. As opulent as the décor is it still feels very much like your neighborhood salon, just in Beverly Hills. Great staff and makes you feel right at home.

Oh, look! Your hair is falling out all over the place! This salon has a great location in Beverly Hills and fast, easy parking in the city’s public lot across the street. Stylists are friendly and know their stuff. You’ll get a beautiful style and go out looking fabulous! It’s been one of the top Black salons in LA for a really long time. BUT… the hair that this salon sells for extensions and weaving is AWFUL! It’s badly constructed! It looks and feels OK in the package(tied at the top of the bundle with a deceptively elegant pink ribbon) but that is a total illusion. The hair that Elgin Charles Salon sells SHEDS and TANGLES! The things that you would never expect of hair bought at a salon with this reputation. When I write shed, I mean that ITSHEDSALLTHETIME! If it were the hair growing from your head and shed this much you would call your doctor! Anywhere that you comb or brush your hair will become a place that needs a broom. It’s SO bad that they should probably sell a little purse sized broom and dustpan when you pay for the hair. You’ll pay prices that are average, and maybe think that great because buying it there saves you a drive to another store to buy the hair. WRONG! There should be a note on the receipt that reads«Gotcha!» because you have just paid for hair that will shed, and shed and shed every time you touch it. I’m told that there was a time not too long ago when this salon sold the absolute best hair in LA, but those days are gone. You don’t find out that it’s shedding SO much until after you’ve worn it. I take good care of my hair, and have NEVER had this problem with shedding. Of course, like a lot of us who’ve had weaves for years there have been times that I’ve bought hair at other places that tangles too much, or that mats. But that was nothing like the shedding that this hair does. After a few weeks you’ll see the difference and think about how thin your hair looks compared to when you first had it done. It’s because it’s all falling out. And you paid for this? Do yourself a favor and go to Elgin Charles Salon for fabulous styling, and wonderful service. But buy your hair weaving hair someplace else!
