Great food — I had seafood pasta, grilled octopus and tiramisu with House red wine — portions are big service was very good and the price Was very fair in the middle of B. H watching people walk by. I will definitely come back.

Oh, the horror. Came here for dinner with a friend who was very hungry and easily swayed by a cute-ish hostess; I wanted to wait the fifteen minutes for the crowded Piccolo Paradiso half a block up. He won. The place was empty. One table. Two people. Us. The ENTIRETIME we were there. ‘Twas a forewarning we did not heed. So this place is not Italian-Korean fusion(no Kalbi Rissotto or Kimchi Ravioli), it’s just«here are some italian dishes and here are some Korean dishes.» Because, you know, those two cuisines go together. Don’t ask us why but we both chose Korean dishes, not that it would have mattered. We ordered the crab appetizer to share but they were out, since they were so crowded with all those other nonexistent diners. Our waitress recommended the Jap-Chae, which is stir-fried sweet potato noodles with mixed vegetable and light soy sauce. It was tasteless. I got the short rib stew and my friend got the Bibimbap. Both were insanely overpriced and, to be fair, also terrible. I didn’t try the Bibimbap but my friend was unhappy with it. My stew was dry… funny, since it’s a stew. I guess they forgot the liquid part. Seriously. And just so we’re clear, I’ve been to Korea. I know what this stuff is supposed to taste like. We got the bill, paid and stood up. And the second we did, we both heard the Call of Chtulu. I’ve had food poisoning from restaurants before but never, ever, has it set in under ten minutes with fully cooked food. What could have caused this? My friend and I never shared our entrees, so it was either the bland breadsticks or the Jap-Chae appetizer. Or maybe the chef just didn’t wash his hands and all our dishes were contaminated with the«Erbe Matte.» They were going to get 1-star for the bad, overpriced food to begin with. So consider this a negative-seven review for the double-dose of food poisoning.

This place is one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. The ambiance is nice and the service is good, but food takes very long even though they were only serving 3 tables — on a Friday night. The food wasn’t that bad, but they weren’t extraordinary for the price the charge. Menu wasn’t what I thought of the Korean-Italian fusion. Would not recommend if you go for the food.

4 of us shared everything like all dinners we eat together… Chopped salad was good, fresh and with minimal dressing,…no complaints. Clams and mussels in spicy sause — sauce not spicy at all for me and some of the mussels not the freshest but overall not bad… would not order again, however Linguini with truffle and mushroom sauce — as good as my experience in Alba during the white truffle season 10 years ago, I have certainly not had such an incredible pasta elsewhere in North America(not even at Veneta Laconda) …I could eat two plates of this by myself Agnolotti –ravioli with beef, veal and pork house special — excellent. Penne with ox tail — ox tail was quite good but penne disappointing, nothing special at all… I really regretted ordering this dish as I was considering this and a second order of the linguini… I seldon regret my decisions… but this I did Rib eye… ordered medium rare… hard to get a better piece… perfect in every way Bibimbap…not bad… just straight and good comfort food. Desserts…polenta and hazelnut chocolate… these are the only disasters of the the evening. Polenta squares deep fried coated in panko, BORING tasteless and something a 4 year old would do… we left desserts on the plate for the first time in 20 years, maybe longer. Hazelnut chocolate something, it was supposed to come with ice cream… it’s a small compact slice of something with chocolate color; had to push down hard to chip off a chunk and you can tell it was not supposed to be that way… I did not taste chocolate or hazelnut… not sure what it was. The waitress recommended tiramisu but I have refused to order tiramisu since burning out on the name in the 80’s. The desserts in this town has gone to hell, not only in this restaurant but all over. Mad as Hell… Decent restaurants all over are serving donuts, bacon infused sweet somethings, scones, bread pudding and 20 flavors of ice creams for desserts… lazy bastards. What happened to marjolaine, citrus chocolate moouse cake, rum cakes, layer cakes made of 40 layers of mille crepes laced with fruity creams spreads? Has all the talented pastry chefs gone into something else? Seems we only have lazy bastards with no pride left doing nonsense stuff they call desserts in LA; my fellow Unilocalers who love LA need to rise up and complain loudly against this surprising mediocrity in our great city!

I had dinner here with my wife the other night. It was surprisingly slow on a saturday night, however the ambience was nice, and it was a beautiful spring night in So CA so we sat in the patio section with the overhead heated lamps. We tried the chop salad, and beef tartare to start. Chop salad was decent, the beef tartare, which is actually a Yook Hwe, was very good but had slightly too much sesame oil. Main dishes were a seafood pasta with squid ink and a ribeye steak ordered medium. seafood pasta was very good, and light and clean. my wife really enjoyed it. the ribeye was pleasantly good to, came out a perfect medium. overall this place was a solid 4+, and we hope to comeback and try the other pasta dishes.

Galbi Jim — best braised beef short ribs ever. Maybe it was the ginseng? It was tender and super tasty. Also try, Pasta with mushroom and truffle, grill octopus, seared scallops. Nice décor.

We had some family in town this week and wanted to try something new, so we decided to check out Erbe Matte. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. My mother in law had the electric mountain and my wife had the 340 something from the cocktail menu and they were both delicious. My father-in-law and I were boring and ordered a martini and a glass of pinot noir. We shared the beef tartar, seared scallops and spinach salad to start. Everything was perfectly seasoned and fairly generous. Our entrees included the seafood medley, chopped salad and ribeye steak. I have to say the presentation is spot on and the quality of the food was on par with the price point. We really enjoyed everything. The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars was that the tartar was slightly on the frozen side, which the waiter assured me was on purpose. He explained it was a textural quality they were going for. That’s cool with me, it tasted good, but I would have preferred it fully thawed out. By the time I was finishing the tartar I thought it was perfect. The other reason I didn’t give 5 stars was that my steak was slightly overcooked. I ordered medium rare and the steak arrived medium to medium well. I didn’t mention it to the waiter because it actually taste quite good as is, so I was quite content. Pros: Great food, tasty drinks, exceptional service Cons: None to report

I was here with a party of 7 for DineLA restaurant week in February. The service was superb. From the reminder phone call of my reservations to answering our questions about the various ingredients in each dishes to changing out plates that we used to share our food, all great. I was surprised the place was quite empty upon arrival. It’s been open since late fall/early winter of 2011. The few drinks we ordered were well made and well received.(Loved my electric fountain!) I was able to sample all the dishes off their dinela menu and was quite impressed. The scallops tasted very fresh. The grilled calamari was delightfully slightly charred. The gal-bi-jim had the distinct Asian braised meat flavor. The grilled seafood dish was simple and plentiful, and not too dry as grilled seafood can sometimes be. But my absolute favorite has to be the pasta dish — the erbe matte agnolotti. Simply delish, lots of flavor but not never overbearing and just the right mixture of creaminess. The dish was so good I was still thinking about it 3 days later. The 2 dessert dishes offered was tiramisu and a polenta cake. I’m not a big fan of tiramisu, but this was good, just not enough ‘cake.’ The latter did not sound appealing at all, but surprisingly was very good. The poached pear and roasted fig complimented the smooth polenta cake nicely. I can’t wait until I return.

This is not a favorable review– however it is accurate and honest Just came back from Erbe — went to lunch there with a friend. When we walked in there were a total of 4 people eating– so the staff can not say it was stretched. We were seated and we ordered– I ordered a chop salad and my friend order salad bar and fresh pasta. So far so good. Then the busboy brought fresh bread along with oil and vinegar– which he spilled all over the table and narrowly missed me. No worries. About 10 minutes later– my salad came and my friend returned with her plate too. We ate. The food was just ok. About then D-CELEB Janice Dickinson and her little of posse of followers walked in and sat inside. The restaurant staff was acting like MADONNA just walked in– everyone in the place gravitated to the Dickinson party table of 4– whatever– Then the busboy cleared the table and we sat. I asked where is my friend’s pasta to which we were told it is coming shortly. Another 10 minutes came and went– no pasta. The busboy did come over and poor us some more free Beverly Hills water from a pitcher that had dirt and junk in it– so he quickly had to clear the water glasses from the table. A few minutes later we realized we had to go– as our lunch time allotment had expired. We asked for the bill– even though we did not get served our entire meal. There was no apology or adjustment by this place for the lack of service and the fact we were not served out entire order. My friend’s words to the place as we were leaving sums it up best–«I guess you were busy taking care of other people to notice we did not get our meal nor was the service satisfactory» She paid in full– there was NOBILLADJUSTMENTNORAPOLOGY We both left hungry and bewildered at what we just experienced.
Needless to say we won’t be back I will be surprised if this place is open for business in 4 months time ON A SIDENOTE I give Janice’s plastic surgeon 5 stars– ***** as her most recent plastic surgery is one of the best new face jobs I have ever seen– Not sure if it was the lighting or what– but she looked really good

Valentine’s day dinner 2012. WOW is to say the least. First of all, the location is wrong on google maps– the pin clearly shows the restaurant being located on the west side of Canon Dr. but it’s definitely on other side.(same side as Mastro’s and Spago). Continuing on, this restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor/patio seating. It was a cold night so I asked to be seated inside. Note to self, ask to be seated at the far end of the restaurant as if there is a patio, the front door will remain wide open ALLNIGHT. It’s Valentines day so I’m not going to show up in sweat pants, but I wish I did. The draft pretty much prevented me to show off my nice dress, and I was sitting there wrapped up in my coat for the entire night. I should have brought a blanket with me as well. We arrived at 8pm for our dinner reservation. The restaurant was about half full with 3 tables to the left and 3 tables to the right of us. We were seated and the adventure began. Our waiter brought us the prix fixe menu for the night as well as a cocktail list. I ordered the Rodeo Dr., and it was nothing spectacular($ 12). After he brought us our water glasses, we waited for our first course. Now, it being my valentine’s dinner with my boyfriend of course I read the menu!!! Here’s the kicker– and when we received our first dish, it was definitely NOT the appetizer. Uh Oh, this is going to be an interesting night. We sat around for 15 minutes waiting for the waiter to come explain the dish to us. Nothing. Another 5 minutes and I wave him down and ask him«is this my appetizer». He replies, «No.» Then I say, «Well, we haven’t received our first course– this is not the first course». He gives us a blank stare and said he would be back shortly. He comes back saying that the appetizer was not ready, and he will bring it shortly. Ten minutes later he brings us the 3rd course. At this point I am SO confused because it definitely STILL was not the appetizer. The two gentlemen sitting next to us were brought 2 dishes, both of which they already had! I mean c’mon man!!! You don’t even know what you served your tables? Though the manager kept apologizing, and offered us a glass of wine on the house, we don’t really drink so we asked for more bread instead. We never saw a piece of bread until halfway through our meal. It seemed like everyone else on the other side of the restaurant was enjoying the experience so it was definitely our waiter who just sucked. Granted the food was great– I felt the waiter ruined the experience for me. It pains me to give such a poor review, but this is the worst service I have experienced. EVER. Oh and the food… here’s what we ate(in the order we should have been served): Amuse Bouche(tomato, basil and cheese on a toothpick, not impressed). Oven Baked Beets(beets were good, red and golden beets) Pan Seared Sweet Bread(my favorite, not bread, some part of the cow– we didn’t get an explanation on this one either). Spinach Chapaghetti(We were offered this dish probably 3 or more times, it was great, but very irritating having to say«No, we already had that»). Langoustine Bouillabaisse(Mildly spicy, soup-like dish with langoustine) Grilled Beef Tenderloin(perfect charring on the outside, tender on the inside; great dish). Sauteed Strawberry(not the best, but the white chocolate mousse was tasty). Note to Erbe Matte: PLEASEHIRECOMPETENTSERVERS! The food was good so I’m not as mad as I should be, but if I am paying $ 65(per person) for my meal, I want an explanation of what the damn thing is in front of me! If you can’t remember the order(ITS A FIXEDMENU!!! what is there to remember! dah!) then write it down on a piece of paper. Good thing we had some easy going people sitting around us, and we ended up laughing it off at the end of the night but really? I’m still shocked as I write this horrendously long review. It’s Valentine’s day– diners expect a good experience! Instead I left albeit full, but extremely annoyed with our waiter. I’ve had taco stands that remember orders better than this guy. An establishment in Beverly Hills??? FORSHAME! I would definitely go back for the food, but would run out screaming if I saw our server again.

Great service, great drinks, great food! I visited this restaurant a few weekends back with a group of friends, and overall enjoyed my experience. Our server was charming and funny, my drink(I think it was called a Rodeo Drive?) was absolutely delicious, and the food was yummy as well. I tried the much recommend agnolotti, which I enjoyed, but didn’t find to be as mind-blowing as other Unilocal reviews have made it out to be. My dessert of polenta cake with roasted figs and poached pear, however, was delightful. I’m not normally a fan of polenta, but somehow it worked here, blending sweet and savory with an interesting texture that made the dish memorable. My only complaint about this place(if one can even really call it a complaint) is that Erbe Matte seems to be marketed as Italian/Korean fusion… but it’s really not. Sure, there are a few Korean dishes on the menu – one of my friends ordered the bibimbap, which he loved – but nothing screams true fusion to me. However, the food is good and the prices reasonable given the Beverly Hills location, so I’m willing to give them a pass on that one.

I was treated to a delicious lunch today at Erbe Matte. I have driven by many times so was quite curious to see what this new place that popped up on Canon was all about. From the moment I walked in I loved the space. The interior was so calming and beautiful. Their patio has great heaters, so even on a cool day it’s great to sit outside. They have an insanely good lunch deal at the moment, which comes with your choice of salads from a center table in the restaurant(a buffet of sorts but I hate the word buffet). Plus you get a choice of fresh pasta all for $ 10! I was shocked. This deal, in Beverly Hills? Impossible! I LOVED the pasta that came with the $ 10 deal… I asked for the seafood pasta in the tomato sauce. It was simple, clean and delicious. It had clams and crawfish. We also ordered the grilled calamari for an appetizer and the white truffle pasta with mushrooms. The grilled calamari was vibrant and tender. I liked the truffle pasta but honestly preferred the simple tomato seafood pasta. Dessert is a must. The tiramisu tastes like it came straight out of Italy and the fruit ministrone was so unique, light and fresh. Service was incredibly friendly and personable. You can tell they are still new, because they are trying so hard!

I expected the dishes to be a fusion of these two culinary worlds. Not so much. Instead, expect entirely Italian fare, with the exception of three Korean dishes. I ordered one of them. The seafood pancake. With shrimp, scallop, and octopus in an egg pancake with leafy greens and a sweet and(mildly) spicy sesame dressing, this dish was light and fluffy, but also copious. I enjoyed it enough that i forgot about the romantic love songs blasting in my ears. Next, mussels and clams in a tomato sauce with chunks of garlic and tomato. I am partial to the white wine, butter combination for mussels, but this was better suited for the cold night and was very good. The presentation was clean and modern. The agnolotti pasta was filled with a purée of veal, pork and beef and came in a creamy mushroom sauce that could make you weak in the knees. The pasta must have been handcrafted with great care because it was paper thin and practically dissolved away to reveal the delicately smooth purée of the meat. The flavors were your traditionally Italian meat and mushroom, but the texture was new and unique for me. The purée of meat was as soft as ricotta and soaked up the cream of mushroom to create a fluidity of flavors. The oven baked, salt crusted, sea bass fillet with herb infused pernod was quite a production. The sea bass arrived at the table under a mound of baked salt and covered in sprigs of rosemary and thyme. Our waiter set a flame to the pernod-soaked herbs which was not only nice to watch but also enhanced their lovely scent. After removing the fish from it’s salt igloo, we saw it had also been wrapped in sesame leaves. The fish was then served on a plate of vegetables. After the extensive display of culinary prowess, I was ready for some depth of flavor. The fish was strangely bland after all. The veggies were good but the baby carrots were still crunchy and needed a few more minutes in the steamer. For dessert was the polenta cake with roasted figs and poached pear. There were dollops of fig cream with the polenta and a poached pear coulis on the plate. The polenta was savory and the cream was sweet so together they were a beautiful balance. The texture was both richly grainy and creamy, which made this dessert really memorable. I felt the experience was a little too contrived, and it seemed desperate. There are some stellar dishes on the menu, but the ambiance is not my scene. It felt like I had decided to eat at The Grove, but not even the tourists showed up. for more of my reviews check out

AWESOME food, service & ambiance! Right when we walked it, we were greeted by almost every staff member. Even the general manager, Young, greeted us. Talk about service! The wait staff was very attentive and eager to please. I think the GM came by a couple of times that night to see if everything was okay and if we needed anything. Wow! The food is delicious. Everything we ordered, all the pastas, seafood dishes, meat courses, were all very good. A must order is the truffle pasta and ox tail pasta. Yum! I can’t stop thinking about the truffle pasta. The truffle isn’t overbearing, just perfect. A great little twist is the Korean/Italian fusion. I really enjoyed the food, and so did the eight other girls I was with. The wine recommended by the GM was spectacular. I forgot the name of it but it was a mixture of cab & shiraz. We got two bottles because it was so good! Yum! Even the desserts were delicious, especially the pana cotta and hazelnut cake, YUM! The price is right also. The GM explained that the restaurant is currently in its soft opening and will have the grand opening soon. Everyone should go before this place gets wayyyy too crowded.

OMG! DELISH! Not only was it a beautifully decorated restaurant, the food was AMAZE. It’s Italian with some Korean fushion. So many great pasta dishes and meat dishes(I recommend the ribeye, duck and oxtail pasta). Not only the food, but the wine selection was impeccable. Our servers were highly in tune with our needs and really they are a warm hearted staff. The general manager, I think his name was Young — even came over to greet us to see how we were doing. I thought that was a really special touch. It’s a great place for big groups, corp parties, etc… but, even dates. It has that warm, very inviting, intimate, romantic feel to it. I’m definitely going back again. Mmmmmm, truffle pasta. STILLTHINKINGABOUTIT!!!

I went to Erbe Matte recently with a few girlfriends of mine. We got there about 630 and immensely enjoyed every second. My friends and I are all Korean so when we heard of this new fusion restaurant, we were really intrigued. We imagined more of a Korean restaurant with an Italian twist, but it ended up being an Italian restaurant with Korean touches. Still delicious, and absolutely a place I would recommend. The ambiance is incredibly cozy, trendy, and clean. The outside patio is fully covered and there are heat lamps for the evenings. The inside is small but cozy and the romantic dim lighting makes it the perfect date place. As the restaurant was still going through it’s soft opening, there were some trial and error spots that I noticed, but nothing terrible worth mentioning. Moving on… The Food! Appetizer: Muscles and Clams – delicious! I personally like a little more spice, but the entire dish was perfectly cooked, had a large portion for 5 girls, and left me wanting more at the end. It also came with this delicious, crispy bread that was amazing with the sauce. Meals: Penne Al Oxtail — meh. on the dry side. the meat was super tender and delicious, but it could have used a lot more sauce. I did appreciate the fusion of a korean prepared meat with the pasta and pasta sauce Mushroom & Truffle Sauce Pasta – TODIEFOR. It was rich, flavorful and absolutely addicting. Agnolotti Raviolo – I actually gasped when I tried this one. It was SOOO unbelievably delicious you’ll be shocked. Then you’ll wish that the portions were twice as large or you could order another one because it is THAT amazing. Wine & Beers were amazing. I do wish they had a larger Beer selection, but it definitely didn’t hinder my experience. The servers were incredibly friendly. They checked in often and were always there to clear plates, refill water, etc. At the end of the night, They brought us free desserts at the end and each were INCREDIBLE. I HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone. Next time i want to try more Korean dishes! After their Grand Opening, I am positive that Erbe Matte will be a super hot spot!

Korean/Italian food. Koreans love Italian food so it makes sense. The menu is basically half Korean food and half Italian. I loved the yeasty breadsticks that they give with little bowls of olive oil & balsamic. We ordered the Penne Al Oxtail and Gal Bi Jim. The penne was light could have used a little more spice I feel. But I liked how they used oxtail because Korean people eat that all the time in soup. The Gal Bi Jim tasted pretty much like the usual dish. We really enjoyed the dessert, Marinato Di Pesca-marinated peach with cassis liquor and green tea ice cream. I thought the food was good but a little pricey considering you could just go to ktown, but it’s because of the location and nice interior.

I heard about this new Italian/Korean restaurant and really wanted to like this place. The ambience & staff were really nice, but everything else needs improvement. The food takes WAY too long to come out(there were only two occupied table) and the appetizer portions are really small. The food is just okay. We had the calamari, clams & mussels, rib eye, and bibimbap.

A good friend forwarded me a press release of a new restaurant opening in Beverly Hills on Cannon. We work just a few blocks away so we immediately made plans to meet their for lunch ASAP. ASAP was today. I made reservations on for lunch for 3 people and we were off. They don’t have a menu available online yet(at least I couldn’t find one) but the whole Korean-Italian fusion theme really excited me as those are two of my favorite cuisines. First the pros: 1) Very, VERY cool staff. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, ready and willing to help you with the menu. 2) Very nice décor. Cool, clean, flowing, relaxing, breezy and comfortable. 3) Great menu. Plenty of choices, yet still simple and not overwhelming. Chicken, fish, beef, lamb, pork, vegetarian, pasta, risotto, and salads. Something for everyone. The Cons: 1) Portions are too small. 2) The food took waaaaaay to long to get to our table. Very nice place. They have outdoor seating, semi outdoor seating and indoor too. The semi outdoor seating has a cool skylight that opens up and makes the place very bright, sunny, warm and breezy at the same time. Elegant but unpretentious. Beautiful aesthetically. Two of us got there early. A server brought over two little plates with a little individual bowl of olive oil and balsamic vinegar in each. Kinda cute. And a little bread basket with 2 soft bread sticks. I was pretty clear that there would be three of us for lunch. No big deal. Since it was our first time there we chose to do a tasting of a few different things. We picked a starter, a salad, a pasta and a protein all to share. We picked the mussels and clams to start and a salad to follow. The clams were good. Cooked perfectly and served on a long, semi-deep dish in a spicy, red broth with whole cloves of garlic and green onions. Again, only two croutons and by this time our third member had arrived so I guess they just like doing things in 2’s. The salad for some reason took a very long time. And when it arrived, I gotta say, it was a joke. Very disappointing. A tiny little plate, with some micro greens with ginseng and wagu root or something like that and tossed with a very bland dressing. I’m not exaggerating, after we split the salad in 3, we each got one decent fork full. I was not pleased. That salad cost about $ 14(give or take). We were ready to order the rest of our food. We chose the pasta(I forgot what kind of pasta it was, linguini I think) with a white mushroom and truffle cream sauce and the tenderloin of veal wrapped in bacon served with spinach, golden raisins and almonds. This is where I started to sour. We waited and waited and waited. We waited around 25 – 30 minutes. The place wasn’t packed, and our order wasn’t complicated. Sorry, that is unacceptable. I’ve worked in, managed and owned restaurants and there is no reason whatsoever that that order should have taken more than 15 minutes to hit our table. The food, however, was really good!!! The pasta was cooked perfectly, the mushrooms were tender and plentiful, the cream sauce was velvety smooth and not too heavy with just the right amount of truffle. The dish wasn’t as hot as I’d like it to be though. I think the pasta was ready and sitting there while they prepared the veal. The veal was cooked exactly the way I like it; medium rare(even though we ordered it medium) the bacon it was wrapped in was crispy and smokey, the sauce it was served on was delicious. Portions are too small for the prices they charge, but hey, it’s Beverly Hills. That salad though was unforgivable. Really lousy. Our waitress was awesome. Really cute and sweet. Knew the menu inside and out. Very attentive and friendly and, with the exception of that salad(I know, I can’t let it go) her suggestions were really liked. I’ll definitely be back soon. Dying to try the pork belly, the braised short ribs and the ribeye.

Had lunch at the newly launched restaurant, which was quite tasty. I’m a vegetarian, so always looking for something friendly on the menu. This new offering had several choices that looked tantalizing. I tried the Avocado soup, because it sounded so interesting. It was a fresh, light, appetizing mixture of veggies in a bed of cold avocado goodness. Highly recommended. And… truffle pasta — how can you go wrong. Creamy & tasty. Perfect. I also tried two of the new signature cocktails. A take on the old fashioned with apple garnish — nice, and a Tequila drink with grapefruit garnish, grapefruit juice and grapefruit soda. Very very tasty and a nice counterpoint to the rich pasta. I’ll be back for the cocktails even if I’m not in the mood to eat!
