Super nice owners, delicious Chinese food. Reminds me of the restaurants my first generation Chinese parents would take me to. Would return for more.

Probably the worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant in the last few years(possibly ever): I walked in at 12:05, finally after 15 minutes somebody comes and gets our order(I ordered Kung Pao with chicken); they bring the food at 12:35 — and surprise surprise: mine is Kung Pao with chicken but extremely sour!!! And if you have ever had Kung Pao you know that it is nowhere close to being sour. I tell my waiter that it doesn’t taste like it usually does, that maybe the chef used the wrong kind of sauce maybe sweet and sour — he looks at me as if I’m stupid and I have no idea of what I’m talking about. Finally after«we talk about it», he accepts to take it back to the kitchen(with half of my rice on that plate); I asked for replacement rice and A to go box and at 13.05(an hour after I walked in), my food finally arrives… I tasted it and inform the waiter that it tastes delicious and how I originally expected it, and all he can tell me is that they used the same sauce and that they made it the same way they made the first one!!! All of this time my water glass was only filled up once, 95% of the time the glass was empty screaming to be filled up… I didn’t say anything about that… just left super thirsty… I take a bite or two of my food, we asked for the bill and for the replacement rice — which at this point still didn’t get to my table. The bill comes up, no discount no apology, I point out to the hostess that the order was messed up(the manager is aware of it at this point, because he came in and asked where my food was about 45 minutes into the lunch) and she says«Does your waiter know?» ?!? I said yes… Somebody brings the bill, all but just throws it on the table, no discounts no apologies! I’ll probably never eat there again !!!

Pan fried noodles are great! I order it with shrimp & vegetables, smothered in a tasty hot sauce… And they deliver, which is why I order so often. Besides, it’s not the swankiest place in Beverly Hills. If there was one thing I could change it would be the décor. It’s due for a major makeover.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have 5 stars. My husband and I are extremely picky and this is our go to Chinese spot– especially when ordering in. The sizzling rice soup, general tsao chicken(like orange chicken, but better), honey walnut shrimp, and veggie lo mein are our favorites. I definitely recommend trying this place out. I just placed our order! Delivery is also very fast!

I like the food but this is the second time I’ve seen cockroaches crawling on the walls.

We ordered delivery. It was quick and delivered hot. The food was very delicious and the portions were large. This will be my new go-to for Chinese delivery! General Tsao’s chicken, BBQ pork fried rice, wonton soup and pork potstickers were perfect!

Great customer service, fresh and hot food. The black pepper chicken was amazing. My friend took me to this spot and it was my first time going and lived up to the hype! I will be back again real soon.

Christmas evening dinner. One of the only places open tonight. Fried rice is not good. Orange chicken was OK, steak was very good, chicken lo mein was all right as well. As today they have Christmas menu, I couldn’t try other items on the menu.

I asked about a particular dish on the menu. The waiter gives me an attitude with an answer ‘I don’t knoooow’ After he brings out food, he brings the check while we are still eating. I regret paying for their bad food and really rude service.

This is 3.5 rounded up to 4. It’s legit Chinese food. Even the take out containers remind me of getting Chinese food as a kid. Nowadays I feel like so many restaurants try and make typical dishes fancy and it takes away from the authenticity. You can pretty much get any typical dish you want here. The food was good, but not necessarily amazing. The general chicken was so sweet and kind of soft, and the spicy shrimp was slightly fishy. They also need to go with different fortune cookies. I can’t believe I’m writing this, as I didn’t think it was possible to have bad fortune cookies, but they are terrible. It kind of left me hanging at the end there! :) With all that being said I will order from here again when I’m craving down home Chinese.

I met up with a friend who works in the area. This is the one place she hasn’t tried. It doesn’t look like much outside and it looks old inside but we were pleasantly surprised with the food. I felt I was back in Asia. The food didn’t taste like Americanized Chinese food. While not the best, everything was tasty enough – and cheap – to make this a go-to spot whenever I’m craving Chinese food and am in the area. Most of the items in the menu has a cheaper lunch portion. The lunch menu is good value because the portion size is large-ish and it comes with a bowl of rice and soup. You can choose between hot and sour or egg flower soup. I chose hot and sour and their version is pretty good, with a full complement of ingredients. You are served a very simple salad of lettuce and tomato as soon as you’re seated – I loved the dressing. A pot of tea and glasses of water are also delivered un-asked. We had the salt and garlic shrimp for appetizers. They were nice and crunchy but needed more salt, weirdly enough. Nothing a couple of dashes can’t fix. I chose the spicy beef entrée and it was more than serviceable. It wasn’t very spicy but the beef was tender and the flavors were there. My friend ordered walnut shrimp and while I’m usually not a fan of this dish, I liked their version of it. It wasn’t cloyingly sweet. I preferred mine with a few drops of soy sauce(to counteract more of the sweetness) and a teaspoon or two of their chili sauce.

Pretty expensive… They also attach 18% tip to your reciept! ONCEAGAIN, they attack 18% tip to your reciept automatically. Next, the bbq pork Chow Mein was okay but the bbq pork was the worst. ALWAYS check if the 18% tip is added to your reciept. For me, they automatically added 18%. Watch OUT

Good neighborhood gem — we had the Pan Fried Pork Pot Stickers instead of the usual brown dipping sauce it comes w/a light vinegar with lemon I think as for our entrée we went with the Vegetable Egg Foo Young, can do without the peas in the brown sauce though. Both were very tasty

Ate here for dinner on Christmas Day of all times and overall he food was very good. I will tell you the good, the bad and the ugly: The GOOD: Cashew Chicken: 4 fo 5. Tender great tasting chicken. Beef with Veggies: 4 fo 5. Beef so soft and easy to chew – better than a filet.(Note to chef: spare us the canned Mushrooms – no one needs it and no one eats it – use fresh veggies only.) Shrimp with Veggies: 4 of 5: Very tasty, very fresh. Wonton Soup: 4 of 5: Not heavily salted and the best wontons. White and Brown Rice: Both 4 of 5 – very very good. Soup Crumbles: 5 of 5 Parking: Free Valet(tip) if you drive around back.(Call ahead to make sure of hours.) Service: The place was mobbed, SRO, waiters pressed to the max, but they still did a very good job on a rough night. The BAD: Chinese Chicken Salad. The waiter warned us when the order went in, but some at the table had to have it. The most disgusting chicken, tasted frozen, barely heated, iceberg lettuce, mediocre dressing – stay far away from this dish. Stick with the hot stuff here. The UGLY The BILL! This is no cheap place. Prices here are at least 30% more than you would pay for the same outside of Beverly Hills. Fortunately our gracious table host picked up the tab, otherwise it would have been $ 20.00 for each hot dish and $ 30.00 a person. Maybe the prices that night were higher than normal because it was Christmas Day and they had to cut Santa in. But if nothing else, impress your friends by telling them that you ate Chinese food in Beverly Hills – that has to be worth something? And I don’t think you would be lying to state too that dozens of movie and TV stars have driven right by this restaurant. Just a word on Ownership: This restaurant was founded many many years ago by a Chinese man who sold it to the current owner approx. 5 years ago. The current owner is Korean(Jimmy) who maintains a Chinese menu, and the night we were in was toiling in the kitchen it was so busy.

Shanghai Grill is located in the heart of Beverly Hills by Crescent. I went here today for lunch. Prices are reasonable considering it’s Beverly Hills. However, do expect smaller portions than other Chinese restaurants. The food was disappointing. Servers rarely checked on us.

Just your simple Chinese joint on the corner, albeit a fancy corner in Beverly Hills. I had the kung pao tofu($ 10) and the«Tai Chi fried rice»($ 8) made vegan by omitting the eggs. It’s made with brown rice, which is great, too. The kung pao tofu was okay, but nothing special. I wish it had some more color to it(how about some red and green bell peppers and green onions?), but it does the trick for a quick meal that can be re-heated for lunch the next day. The fried rice was also okay, but had a bit of a waxy texture and a tad too much oil. That said, I liked all the vegetables in the dish(peas, bean sprouts, carrots). Shanghai Grill is a decent place with a comfortable, cozy familiarity(worn carpet, large booths, corner bar with a tv playing sports). It’s inexpensive and does acceptable, if unremarkable food.

one person came in for dinner, at the end the boss gave a bill including %18 tip. Terrible. foods are expensive, too. I told the boss, you should not add the tip in the bill. The boss answered me I should tell him I’m not a traveler, then they won’t add the tip in the bill and more then %15 tips if we are local ppl.

You don’t have to be bourgeois, or even«foo foo», to dine in Beverly Hills! There are plenty of affordable dining options in Beverly Hills, and Shanghai Grill is one of those affordable dining options. Speaking of «foo foo», Shanghai Grill has some of the best Egg Foo Young I’ve ever eaten. I’ve been thinking«foo» and wanting«foo» since the last time I had Egg Foo Young at Shanghai Grill! This gem of a restaurant has been nestled on the main thoroughfare of Wilshire Boulevard since the 1950s. For any restaurant to be in business that long speaks volumes. Just when I thought I had some good Egg Foo Young at a restaurant in Arizona, Shanghai Grill proved to me why they’ve been in business so long, by serving me their version of Egg Foo Young. All I have to say is that the secret is in the sauce and Shanghai Grill is a force to be reckoned with. My entrée of Egg Foo Young consisted of three sizable patties, with a combination of shrimp, chicken, and beef, all drizzled with the savory gravy and green peas. This pile of savory bliss only set me back $ 15.95. There was no way I could finish all the food and had no choice but to take some home. My friend ordered the Hot Braised Prawn, consisting of jumbo prawns, and enjoyed it for only $ 17.95. We shared Steamed Chicken Dumplings as our appetizer, along with an order of Terikayi Chicken Skewers, both at $ 6.95 each. All of these thrilling culinary creations had us impressed beyond belief! The gracious staff was entertaining and attentive. As with most restaurants in the Los Angeles area, there are pictures of celebrities on the wall that have dined in this restaurant over the years. Being in the middle of Beverly Hills, I’m sure many people dine here, given the prices and good food. If you’re looking for elegant dining, small portions of pretty food on fancy plates, and exorbitant prices, then you should make a reservation elsewhere. However, if you don’t mind casual dining, with decent servings of food, affordable prices, and a friendly staff that will ensure you don’t go home hungry, then I suggest you have a meal at Shanghai Grill in Beverly Hills!

This place was not very good. Yes, it’s a cheap place in the middle of Beverly Hills, which I know can be a rarity. It’s an easy-to-miss run-down building on Wilshire, next to all the fancy shops and restaurants. I had pretty high hopes for this place due to the reviews. Service was good. No complaints there. In terms of the food, the beef with broccoli was actually a bit scant, as was the walnut shrimp. It’s not bad… the Tantan noodles though were pretty soggy. I usually love this kind of noodle with the peanut sauce, but the plate was lifeless. It’s unfortunate. I think it’s a fine place to satisfy your cravings if you live close by, but not anyplace you should travel to have Chinese.
