Truthfully, this place was recommended by a close friend– but I won’t be back. The food is super bland and watery. The pineapple curry had no taste whatsoever so I asked the waiter for some peanut sauce– even the peanut sauce didn’t taste right. The shrimp and chicken pan fried noodles was ¾ sauce but the funny thing is– it wasn’t tasty– completely watery. The to items that were good were the lettuce wraps and the harvest rolls. Unfortunately, won’t be back.

The food here is actually quite good. The service was not good for most of the night. After waiting more than 10 minutes after being seated, I went to the host to ask for our server as no one had been to the table. When he arrived, and throughout the night, he was neither friendly or attentive — a few times we had to get up to ask for things(such as water and extra glasses for a third who joined us late(they had brought the utensils and plate but forgot the glassware). The kitchen did cook the late arriving guest’s dishes quickly so they came out with our entrée dishes. The Szechuan wontons stuffed with minced chicken were outstanding(the best dish of the night). I wanted some type of crispy beef with a spicy sauce, so the server told me that he’d have the kitchen prepare such a sauce rather than the orange sauce … unfortunately, the sauce was too similar to the Szechuan sauce for the wontons and wasn’t actually spicy at all(although there were some diced jalapeños in there — which was just weird). My husband’s Mongolian beef was good — he ate most of it. I asked them to cook the asparagus with a little bit of garlic(it comes with no sauce I was told) so I could share it with my sister in law who does not eat gluten. Well, they added soy sauce without my asking for it, which rendered it inedible for my sister in law(as they don’t use tamari). I ate some of it but it wasn’t very good — just a little garlic, as I had asked for, would have been lovely. My sister in law’s fried tofu was outstanding(she said), and her vegetable fried rice was also very good.

Food is amazing. This is a hidden gem. They just don’t understand you when they take your order. So there will be a lot of miscommunication

As Chinese, the Chinese food from Xian is really outstanding ! Not oily, Not grease, and tastes good, and the service Is very good! Especially Tao, he’ll remember what you like, and bring to you right the way! Sure, definitely I’ll be back again. And I’ll tell friends about this Restraurant !

I think this is about as good as it gets for Chinese food in Los Angeles. Service has been fine the two occasions my wife and I dined there. I guess if you’re there on the weekend at 8PM you might be in for delays; so better to book a reservation on a weekday. They have an excellent shrimp dish with a very light orange glaze; not sweet and sour and not gooey. They also have a signature rice dish called«Spa Rice«. It’s an excellent compliment to any of the entrees. Their cocktails are also quite good. Try the Concubine with jalapeño. Xi’an adds that elusive«je né sais quoi» factor to their cooking that makes it stand out from other Chinese fare,

Though this restaurant is a Chinese restaurant, the food is okay, it discriminates against Chinese people. The waiter yesterday was very irrespctcful to our family. His service was rude and he added a 20% compulsive tip to our bill. I am not sure this is the restaurant police or his personal behavior, but I suggest people stay away from this kind of restaurants who do not treat people equally.

No joss cuisine, or hakkassan(rip), or mr chow. Hell even Philippe Chow was better than this. Comparable to your average take away Chinese joint(genghis cohen, wokano, 88 Chinese, etc) bland, sugary, mushy, dated food that needs new life. 2 stars because the power zone rice wasn’t too bad.

We ordered the food on today and waited about more than 30 min without any notification. After we asked the food status, the guy in the restaurant said the stove is out of order now. How this could come in BH? Furthermore, we ordered Tan Tan Mein that shall be spicy, but we could only feel the peanut butter without any spicy.

Knew we were in for trouble when the waiter just walked away without saying anything half way through taking our table’s order. When he finally came back to take the rest of our order, he didn’t pay attention, and half way through our meal ended up having to pull aside one of us as we were walking to the bathroom to clarify our order. Had to ask for water 5 times before we got any, and the(sub-par) food came out so staggered that one of the people at our table finished their meal before anyone else got to eat anything. Really below average Chinese food with TERRIBLE service for twice as much $$ as it should be.

So you are in Beverly Hills and craving Chinese food! the choices are chinchin on Beverly Drive with mediocre food or here. Xian is definitely the best Chinese food for your buck on Canon in heart of Beverly Hills. Yes the prices are higher than panda express or your mom&pop Chinese take out, but the portions are generous and food is higher quality. must tries are: Crispy noodle Miso Cod and of course any of the shrimp dishes. great lunch spot but if you coming for dinner the service can be very slow when they are packed. we will be back:)

The word that comes to mind is mediocre. Everything is just okay, not great, not horrible, just okay. I love Kung Pao Chicken but here is dry and bland. Ask for some chile paste, mix it in and it is better. Chin Chin has much better Kung Pao Chicken. The pot stickers are also bland, seems like they were just heated up. Again if you doctor them up then they are pretty good. Get the mustard for dipping and it will clear you up even when you don’t need it. The service is hit or miss, sometimes good with a little humor, sometimes they act as if they are almost closing. All that said, I still go once in a while because it is around the corner from me. I am disappointed because I would have loved to have a good go to place I could hit when not wanting to go out to the fancier places in the hood. My search continues.

Stopped by for dinner. Ordered Wonton Soup, Pot stickers and Orange Chicken full of chili peppers. Food is very good. Excellent service. Nice patio dining. The interior is dim lighting, lots of glass. A lot of families with small children dine here. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. Will return.

I love this place! My friend Sid brought me here 10 years ago… The Orange Chicken, Mongolian Beef & Shrimp Fried Rice is delish!!! The service is at the caliber of a 4 Seasons. Everyone knows me and without asking… they walk me to my table. I rarely have to order since they all know me. Best Chinese food in town! Check it out if you are in Beverly Hills.

The standard for Chinese food in West LA is a little lower than that in SGV, but sometimes it’s not feasible to drive all the way to SGV to get a fix. Xi’an is a terrific alternative! Admittedly, the food is not 100% authentic, but it is very, very tasty. The few go-to dishes include the garlic egg plants, the mongolian beef, kung pao chicken and the fried lo mien with chicken — the mongolian beef is probably the best out of the bunch.

On a Sunday night, this place was wall to wall people. I mean packed. For me this is always a very good sign. And from what I hear, it’s like this every night. That’s why I give Xi’an only a satisfactory three stars(actually two and a half) review. The food was certainly good enough for another star although it was pricy; the service was just not good. For an SRO* restaurant, they should have had their act way more together than they did. What they needed and didn’t have was a working system between their waiters, runners and buses. Getting a class of water was like pulling teeth. Trying to wave somebody /anybody down for a refill of hot mustard was futile. Getting a new fork for one that had been dropped — forget about it. The food came out of the kitchen sporadically and basically thrown on the table. I’m not being grouchy or cranky or picking on Xi’an. I liked the place. I liked the food. It was the dining experience I was not wild about and that counts almost as much as the cuisine. I’m going to try Xi’an again! A place this popular could not be this popular with service as mis-qued as this night. I want to like this place. See, I told you I wasn’t being cranky. *Standing Room Only

Very nice. The food here is quite good and makes you feel good, too. The food here(we had edamame, eggplant and chicken) has that feel to it that you know the ingredients and preparation is better than other places. Ever had a tasty meal only to find that you don’t feel well after or just want to sleep? Ever had a greasy meal packed with preservatives and over-salted? Well, the food at X’ian is exactly the opposite. Great atmosphere(good date place), great service and you’ll feel great!

So, here’s the skinny. I have a few things that, if they’re not up to snuff, the whole thing goes down the drain. That was the case here. The good actually outweighs the bad by quite a bit, but one bad thing cost my experience. The bad thing was … it was excruciatingly hot. I do not want to eat in an indoor restaurant that’s the same temperature as the outdoors when it’s warm out. I go indoors to escape that, and the premium prices of a restaurant mean I’m also paying for you to run the A/C. It was probably mid-80’s inside, and when you’re eating warm food with a great many people around you, you start to sweat like a piggy, and eating becomes. … not fun. The food was good. The waiter was excellent, and the atmosphere is otherwise nice. There are parking garages a block away which run a few bucks for the night, or you can valet for a few more dollars. Typical Beverly Hills situation on that front. Definitely eat here! For sure. It’s good. But definitely eat here on a day when the outside temperature is nice and cool.

There are few options for good Chinese food on the Westside. Xi’an is definitely one of the better ones. I would also include Meizhong Dongpo and maybe Palace Seafood. I like Xi’an as their ingredient are fresh and they don’t overdo it will oil and salt and they don’t use MSG. While the prices are bit higher than your average Chinese restaurant, they are just in line or even lower than comparable quality restaurants in BH. While the food is definitely not authentic Chinese, but it’s a very good grub nonetheless. Final note: I’ve only ever eaten take out from here so no idea about the in-dining experience. However, the staff seems friendly enough.
