Well, I was really excited about visiting this place but I left a bit disappointed. My friend & I chose this as our date night spot to catch up as we were really attracted to the described«intimate» setting. It’s really awkward inside, and the servers are equally awkward. To top it off, the food was awkward! I’m not kidding. The basic hummus platter has teeny sliced pieces of pita bread paired with mini vases of hummus, olives, and cucumber salsa but you had to make big deal to make a good bite. We then shared the chicken tagine and we found it pretty bland. Great saving was the wine, which was delicious, but I had a small glass and then my friend was served with a glass 3x the size of mine and alas, it was awkward.

Well, ok. I know the last thing you wanna do as a resident of Los Angeles, is upset a celebrity. But alas, I think I have to make Ryan Gosling cry. The last time I dined at Tagine was over 5 years ago and I remember it fondly. The ambiance was intimate, the food was original and delicious, the service was unobtrusive but attentive, and the sweet mint tea at the end of the meal was memorable. Cut to last night. A montage of missteps, is how I would describe the experience. The music was way too loud for the tiny space occupied by the two of us, plus 3 other tables. Our waitress was super polite(she laughed at our bad jokes!) and knowledgable, but when we asked whether the Chicken Tagine was actually cooked in a tagine, she gave us an, «Um, no. We don’t cook anything in a tagine here. We don’t even have one in the kitchen.» Imagine her saying ‘microwave’ instead of ‘tagine’ in that sentence and you’ll get the tone. I mean… we are in a restaurant that is called ‘microwave’ and 75% of what’s on the menu is titled ‘X microwave’, so what gives??? The food itself was good, but uneven. The Chicken Bastilla crust was flakey and the insides richly flavored. The Chicken Tagine wins on the surrounding accouterments more than the actual chicken. And the House Mezze were solid, but oh so tiny. Our waitress kept wanting to clear it from our table even though we asked her for more pita, so we could finish up the different little offerings. When she came back with pita, she also inexplicably took away two of the jars that had food in them, leaving only the hummus and eggplant. Then on her next run, she sneakily took the eggplant too! I don’t understand. Ryan, can you tell us why?!? The saddest part(for me) was when, by approximately 9:35p we were the only patrons left and the lights went up, and the waitresses shuffled around clearing everything off our table in an effort to mime their desire for us to leave. The check was presented and settled, and I suddenly remembered that the main thing I came here for was the sweet mint tea, served at the conclusion of the meal. I had just seen them bring it to the last table to leave before us, and I was eagerly awaiting my ration. When I asked about its whereabouts, the waitress told us, «oh, we just ran out of it.» SADNESS. Fade to black.

The actor I’m dating surprised me with this gem! He told me it would be a setting I won’t forget. He was right! Perfect for a date and privacy! Partially owned by Ryan Gosling who he knows, this rare diamond was an unexpected pleasant surprise! Call for reservations, dress appropriately, and enjoy the gorgeous ambience and food. Reasonably priced and excellent service!

Amazing. Very quaint — no more than 10 tables. The service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and offered some great recommendations. The wine was excellent. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir to share. Highly recommended if you enjoy a lighter flavor. The food was by far the best part. We started with the bastillia — a light layer or philo dough stuffed with hen and scrambled eggs and topped with cinnamon. Entrees were a tagine of fish(sea bass) and house couscous. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and so full of bold flavor. The couscous had kefta, lamb, and chicken. Also very flavorful. Because we were celebrating, we ordered dessert — the chocolate soup. The milk chocolate ganosh was so perfectly sweetened and a perfect topping for the vanilla ice cream it was served with. We will absolutely be back to this Moroccan gem. High recommended for anyone looking for authentic food and a great experience.

ONESTAR!!! My friend and I had dinner at this restaurant last Saturday, and it was far from the experience you would expect. Our reservation was for 9:00 pm, and someone from the restaurant called earlier in the day to confirm the time. When we arrived, however, the manager, Chris, informed us that our table was not yet available… First of all, the most polite thing to do would have been to call us the moment you realized that our table may not be ready on time. Second, even if it’s a busy night and you were unable to find time to make the call, that’s fine. We understand. But at least, pretend like you care about our experience at your restaurant and say sorry! Chris’ attitude towards my friend and I was very apathetic from the moment we walked in, and his only effort at consolation was to half-heartedly offer us some water or wine while we wait. We took our seats at around 9:15 and did our best to read the menu, which brings me to the bad lighting. It was far too dark in there. I understand that dim lighting helps to create a nice ambiance, but there’s a limit that they definitely crossed. And no, my friend and I are not old. We are both young women with perfectly good eyesight. Straining to read the menu was actually not the worst part about the lack of lighting, but rather the fact that we could not see the food on our plates when they arrived… I am a big fan of Chef Ben’s work(Chef & owner), and I have been following him on social media for quite some time. I wonder if he realizes that none of his dinner guests are able to appreciate his plating because we cannot see the food right in front of our faces. I had been to this restaurant once before and had the Lamb Honey Sauce Tagine. It was absolutely delicious, and I wanted my friend to try the dish since it was her first time there. There was a lamb option on the Taste LA menu(which was considerably more affordable than the regular menu), but I spent the extra money because we wanted that specific dish. When the food came out, I couldn’t see the dishes very well, but I noticed that the lamb was not on the bone like it was last time. I thought about saying something to our waitress but decided to refrain because she seemed a little stressed. Once we got home, though, and I could clearly see the leftovers we had boxed up, I realized it was the completely wrong dish. The next day I called the restaurant to tell them what had happened. I expected to receive a refund for the lamb because it was not what I had ordered, and because the dish we received(the lamb from the Taste LA menu) was priced less than the one I had paid for. Before calling, I checked the menu online to make sure I was not mistaken. I spoke with two people at the restaurant before they passed me on to Chris. I calmly explained the situation, but was met with nothing but excuses and a condescending tone. He said a number of things, including that the menu is subject to change(yes, but it is your responsibility to inform your guests when it does) and also that the menu I was looking at online wasn’t even the menu they currently had in the restaurant. He said it was waiting to get updated. My friend and I were both pretty certain that the online menu was the same one we had seen at the restaurant, so she went back there the next day to take pictures. Sure enough, the menus were exactly the same. So not only did Chris make no effort to apologize while also trying to make me feel stupid for thinking I had received the wrong dish, he blatantly lied(!) At first, I would have been happy with receiving a refund for the lamb, but after being disrespected and deceived, I called the credit card company and refunded the entire thing. I am shocked that the manager of any restaurant, let alone a high-end establishment such as this one, would feel comfortable treating his customers this way. As someone who has a genuine passion for experiencing good, well-run restaurants, I found this entire experience very disheartening.

So a couple of my friends decided to try Tagine during dinela. This place is tiny and it almost looks like a hole in the wall type of joint. There’s street parking. We managed to find parking at around 7:30 on a Wednesday. I got the chicken Bastilla. I opted to try it since it’s a traditional dish. Wasn’t a huge fan. It was almost like a dessert but with chicken. Not really my cup of tea. My friends got the tuna tartare and they said it was good. As an entrée I got the beef kefta. The meat itself was super salty, but it had a good flavor. The couscous was topped with stewed veggies. I’m a textural eater so I was a little disappointed that the whole meal was all really soft. It would have been great if the veggies were a little more crisp. Now for dessert we got the chocolate soup. This saved the day for me. The«soup» was served over a scoop of vanilla ice cream(a little bit too small of you ask me). It was the richest, milkiest chocolate I’ve ever tasted. Things were happening to my mouth and I liked it. I would definitely go back just for the chocolate soup. Overall, it was a decent experience. Dessert came clutch at the end.

Great date place. Enjoy the Moroccan and the intimacy of this place. It is not bright and airy, its basically candle light atmosphere. I think its awesome and would recommend you try it out. Service is good, food is good and eat with confidence.

Easily one of the better restaurants in Los Angeles. Cozy, intimate, sensual, dark, and food that absolutely ignites the senses. Having spent some time in Morocco, we were excited to rediscover the flavors and spices so typical to that region. The balance of flavors, the fine dining experience, and the exquisite preparations all delighted us to no end. Great service and friendly and warm waitstaff and management. Be aware though that the appetizer portions are extremely tiny, if you go in knowing that you have a wonderful experience. The entrées were very well portioned, and honestly I can’t wait to go back. Chris, the once silent partner was very attentive and Sandra was an intelligent friendly and attractive addition to our evening.

My heart has been broken. I first came to this restaurant about 4 years ago and fell in love. Everything from it’s unsuspecting exterior, to it’s cozy ambiance and it’s spectacular food. I’ve been back many times over the years. Mostly to celebrate special occasions or treat a loved one to what I’ve always considered my well kept secret — a place I frequently refer to as my favorite restaurant in LA. The Bastilla off their tasting menu(which I always order) is something that dreams are made of. Whenever a debate develops about the best food in LA, somehow Tagine always finagled it’s way onto my list. I’ve been such a huge advocate and fan of this place that it kills me to write that my latest experience was such a far departure from the usual. Let me start first by relieving the kitchen staff and chef from all responsibility. The food was fantastic per usual. The revisions to the tasting menu were great. The lamb was cooked perfectly, the kefta was flavorful and not too salty. The blame, unfortunately, falls on the wait staff and manager. I had a 7pm reservation slot that I had made a week in advance. I showed up at 6:50pm and was told(very apologetically) that they were behind and it’d be a few minutes. Totally fine and completely understand(it’s a small restaurant). 7:15, we were given more apologies and some hummus. 7:30, nothing. 7:45, nothing. 7:50, we’re told that our table is almost ready. We weren’t sat at our table until 8:05. That’s an hour and 15 minutes of waiting. There were a few hiccups in the service along the way as well(none of the vegetarian dishes were explained — so there was no way of knowing what it was since they don’t have a veggie tasting menu) and we didn’t get any tea at the end of our meal(which is the way I LOVED capping off my many previous experiences). Nothing was comped on the final bill. I was really surprised and disheartened. This is a special and expensive dining experience for me. Part of that experience is being seated at the time(or remotely near the time) I made my reservation. If I don’t get that full experience I was expecting some better recourse. I can’t articulate how disappointed I was. The dinner was a Christmas gift to my younger sister and it sucks that her first experience at Tagine may very well be my last.

I’m shocked that I didn’t write a review of Tagine. I visited this restaurant at the beginning of the year! Especially since the Chocolate Soup was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my life! In fact, I was just thinking about it when I noticed I never finished the review. Let me rewind. My friend and I met on a Thursday night at Tagine right when it opened. It was quiet and a little too dark. We discussed the tasting menu but didn’t want to shell out a hundred bucks each(with tip) for the evening. So we ended up getting a few different items to share. It was a pleasant experience. I can’t say any of the dishes stood out in my mind but I liked the ambiance, the service was nice, and it was a good meal.

Cute romantic spot. I really enjoyed their lamb chops it was flavored so well and grilled to perfection I also loved the rice and garbanzo pilaf it was so. Tasty and great depth of flavor. Their chocolate soup dessert was amazing. It is creamy and a bit crunchy like rice puffs in it. I would recommend not going here when your too hungry because the portions are smalllll.

Hands down one of the most characteristic restaurants in the world. Recommend the meat tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was authentic yet innovative. Everything was carefully done and delicately organized. Each dish is flavorful and well-balanced. The restaurant was dimly lit with cushion seats so it’s perfect for a romantic date.

Tagine is one of my favorite restaurants in LA, because it has a relaxing exotic ambiance, the sitting is very cosy, and I just love the food! I’ve been here close to 10 times, so I’ve tried pretty much most dishes. My absolute favorites are: Sea Bass and Lamb chops. And of course you must try the chocolate soup desert, it’s supper yummy. If it’s your first time I would DEFINITELY recommend the tasting menu. Another great thing about the food is that it is novice friendly, even if you never tried Moroccan cuisine you will find many dishes authentic yet with European fine dining touches. What prompted me to finally post a review is my last visit here with a large group of friend. We were close to 12, so a truly large party! We were taken care of so well, our wine glasses were always full and the evening was just so smooth. Everyone got their orders done right and brought out on time(if you ever dined with a large group you know it’s a challenge!). My FULL5STARS for the food and experience.

I came here last night for my fiancée’s birthday. I was very impressed with the service and ambiance, but not so much with the food. Everything was in the dining room was perfect: dim lighting, comfortable pillowed lined benches, 20’s jazz and ragtime playing softly in the back ground. I felt like I was instantly transported to another world. The menu features a 6 course chef tasting menu, a 6 course pescatarian tasting menu, and items a la carte. I wanted to try the pescatarian menu because it featured, scallops, tiger shrimp and lobster(oh my!). Unfortunately the waitressed said they did not have scallops or lobster that evening(huge bummer), so we both got the chef tasting menu. Each course was beautifully presented, but nothing stood out particularly with great flavor. The Bastille course was too sweet from the chocolate drizzle over the crispy phyllo with some undistinguishable pieces of chicken and eggs. The quail was smaller than others I’ve had and was hard to get to the meat. Overall I left full and satisfied but probably wouldn’t return.

I rarely like giving out 5-star reviews on restaurants because there’s usually room for improvement at every establishment. Melisse, however, exceeded my expectations when I made the decision to bring my current girlfriend to dine here. First, Tagine is a small little restaurant that you would barely notice when you walked by. In fact, we didn’t notice it the first time and had to double back! It’s basically an innovative Moroccan cuisine served in a cozy & romantic setting co-owned by actor Ryan Gosling as I mentioned in my tip not long ago. I went on Valentines day with my girlfriend, which unbeknownst to us meant that ONLY the tasting menu was served(I guess this happens on Friday and Saturday nights). We were a bit surprised and the price for the tasting menu is steep($ 65/person) but how often do you eat at a top rated restaurant in Beverly HIlls? So we came around to the idea, and then… we had one of the best meals we’ve ever eaten! Here is my take on the food we got: First off, we got a mystery ‘on the house’ hors d’œuvre’. The waiter said what it was(some kind of soup in a little shot glass and bite sized phyllo thing) but we missed it. But, it was delicious! First course: Hummus and pita. OMG. Hope you like garlic, and I do. This was probably the best hummus I’ve EVER had. I could have eaten it with a spoon(and at one point I think I might have). Second course: Green Pepper Salad. Doesn’t sound that great, right? Well think again. I LOVED this, and it is topped off with a scoop of lemon sorbet — who would have thought? I love cilantro but my girlfriend doesn’t, and for her this was her worst course although she still enjoyed it. Third course: Bastilla. This is one of the best, most interesting things I’ve ever eaten. It is so unique, and all of the flavours work so well. the cinnamon and phyllo worked So well with the cornish hen, which was cooked to perfection. This was an all around favourite. Fourth course: Shrimp. Yeah, it was good. It was shrimp. A bit salty for me, but I don’t put salt on my food normally, and my girlfriend and her brother who do really liked this dish and didn’t find it too salty at all. Fifth course: Sea Bass. Meh but passable. It was a bit salty, but the flavours were nice. If I hadn’t just had 30 minutes of delicious food I would have been disappointed, but I was easy to forgive at this point(did I mention we ordered a delicious bottle of Pinot?) Sixth course: Honey Lamb. I’d been waiting for this! It was perfectly cooked to medium rare, which is just the way I like my lamb, but hard to get just right(for me at least). It was served with roasted potatoes which were good as well. but MMM the lamb! What a great way to end the meal(not sure I could have eaten more at this point if I wanted to… but then…) Dessert! Chocolate Soup and Apple Tarte. CHOCOLATESOUP. WOW! It was rich but not too rich, sweet but not too sweet, and the perfect serving size. We actually couldn’t finish it all which is crazy I know, but this is a lot of food! It was also served with a sweet mint tea which my girlfriend loved, but was a bit sweet for me(I don’t usually take sugar in my tea or coffee so I’m sure most people like it). The service was great and attentive, the ambiance was nice, the music was just loud enough that you couldn’t hear your neighbor’s conversations, but not so loud that you couldn’t hear yours. My only complaint is that the bathrooms were… yucky. There was some gunk around the edge of the sink and floors and there wasn’t any toilet paper. Easy to tell the staff were(or appeared to be at least) all men! Our server was very apologetic when I asked if he could refill it. This meal will definitely be one that I remember for a long time, and I look forward to going again next time with my older cousin again in the future.

Tagine’s signature $ 756-courses(plus amuse bouche) tasting menu was among one of the best less-than-$ 100 tasting menu I’ve had to this date. Quick Fact: So where’s Morocco? It is located in North Africa and just right below Spain. So one of my friends wanted to eat at Tagine because he never had Moroccan food before(I am pretty sure there are cheaper Moroccan restaurants out there and he had to pick the high-end restaurant located in Beverly Hill … talk about being a true food elitist). NOVALETPARKING, but I did find one of the metered parking two blocks away near Robertson & Charleville(free after 6PM). My friend initially planned to order the DineLA menu and I was aiming for the 6-courses tasting menu, but our waitress told us that we MUST order 6-courses tasting menu together. After I gave my friend a much-needed death stare, both of us came to an agreement and ordered 6-courses tasting menu. There are two sets of tasting menu: non-pescetarian option(quail and lamb chop) and pescetarian option(lobster and tiger shrimp). *** 6-Courses Non-Pescetarian Tasting Menu — $ 75 per person *** Amuse bouche — There were a spoon of goat cheese, a cup of soup, and some kind of egg rolls. Very interesting amuse bouche … I can taste bitterness, sweetness, sourness, and saltiness all at the same time. Mezze(Hummus, marinated olives, berber bread, tartar of tomato and cucumber, sauté of eggplant): One of the best bread I’ve had … it had an amazing crispy texture. Hummus was somewhat sour and sauté of eggplant was unexpectedly savory. Tartar of tomato and cucumber tasted like ceviche. Bastilla(Light layer of phyllo dough, Cornish hen, scrambled eggs, sprinkled with saffron and powdered sugar): Sweet and crunchy layer of phyllo dough. It was a very tasty dish. Grilled Quail(Quail, farmers market’s vegetables): Quail was excellent — tasted like chewy version of high quality chicken wings. California White Sea Bass Tagine(Roasted pan sea bass, potato purée, sautéed mixed peppers): I thought California is currently experiencing a severe drought? Where did Tagine find such a tender and melt-in-your-mouth sea bass? Pepper complemented sea bass very well and it was one of the best sea bass I’ve had(only sea bass from Asanebo tasted just as good as this). New Zealand Lamb Chops(Marinated in the seven spices, grilled lamb chops, sautéed asparagus): By the time I got to this point … I thought to myself, «You can’t possibly top what I just had right?» Well … lamb chop was just as good as sea bass. Cooked to perfection — medium-rare, juicy, and seasoned with right amount of cumin. I’ve eaten a lot of lambs(from the giant lamb chop at Raku to the lamb chop at Kappo Honda) … and this New Zealand lamb chops were the best one I’ve had. Chocolate Soup(Served with vanilla ice cream and baklava): Our waitress slowly poured hot chocolate soup over a cup of vanilla ice cream. Oh man … the combination of vanilla ice cream(with some nuts) and warm chocolate soup was delicious. The only thing I didn’t really like about this tasting menu was baklava … a bit too greasy for me. *** One last note — the restaurant doesn’t disclose about the automatic 8% service charge(not including tax and tip). Normally I would be like«What the heck, what’s with this additional 8% service charge?» or «Wait, why do we have to order tasting menu as a pair?». However, I didn’t care that much by the time I finished the meal — food were absolutely extraordinary. My recommendation? Forget about the DineLA menu and stick with its 6-courses tasting menu — YOUWILLNOTREGRETIT.

Service: Our server was wonderful and helpful. He helped me choose a very delicious wine based of the food i ordered. Very cheerful and nice guy. On top of water, drinks, and requested service. Food: The food was amazing. Constantly disappointed with many restaurants with high reviews, yet the experience was bad(lack of seasoning to no seasoning, horrible service, etc.). Food was on point in seasoning with explanation on what’s on each plate. Ambiance: Small restaurant with a very homely décor. Music wasn’t loud and was able to have a great conversation with my friend. Parking: No valet, so you got to park on the streets. Haven’t seen any parking garage either.

We did Dine LA. The food was superb from the appetizers to dessert = 5 stars. The service was excellent = 5 stars. The ambience was nice but not the most comfortable = 4 stars. The seating arrangements are not comfortable, if you are a party of 3. Two of us sat on the cushioned bench(not much elbow room, I ate at an angle my entire meal), the third person sat in a chair at round tables. My main complaint/disappointment was the surprise 8% service charge that was on our bill. We weren’t informed about this charge when we made reservations, we weren’t informed upon our arrival, we weren’t informed on the menu, we were told when we got the bill. To top things off, we were told the money is for the restaurant not the servers, Omg, be up front about your charges. The more I think about this, the more I get upset. 0 Stars for transparency of business expectations/practices. I highly recommend the restaurant for its food, just be prepared for surprise charges.

I’ve been wanting to try Tagine since I saw it on the Dine LA list. I didn’t go during Dine LA but did get a Blackboard Eats code for a three-course tasting menu for $ 38(their regular five-course tasting menu is about $ 75). I wasn’t expecting the ambiance to scream«Moroccan»(if I would even know what that was). I’m not sure why several reviewers mentioned the ambiance wasn’t «Moroccan» enough – even commenting on the servers. Um, it would be weird if they explicitly tried to hire only Moroccans to serve in order to keep everything more«authentic.» Also, I don’t go to Chinese places expecting Chinese music. As it was, the furnishings seemed to be in line. But I digress. There aren’t choices on the BBE menu. First off, we were served an amuse-bouche of soup and goat cheese. The soup was very good; I can’t quite remember what it was but it did have toasted almonds in it, which made for a nice crunch. The bite-size goat cheese was tasty as well. First course– Beet salad w/diced beets and shallots marinated in a vinaigrette and served with lemon sorbet and raspberries. The lemon sorbet was a pleasant addition but even the sorbet couldn’t overcome the acidity of this dish. There was way too much vinaigrette and the dressing itself was very acidic. The flavor overwhelmed the taste of the beets and shallots. Second course-Spiced and grilled seafood dish served with couscous, carrots, zucchini, and cauliflower. The dish had salmon and tiger shrimp for sure and possibly king crab but I didn’t see any. I enjoyed the fish and shrimp; there were generous portions of each and both were cooked and flavored well. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp tails. The vegetables very soft; they were probably overcooked and the couscous was okay. Third course– chocolate soup and baklava. Both of these were very good. I really liked the richness of the chocolate flavor in the soup and the pairing of it with vanilla ice cream. The baklava was excellent. I loved how the flavor of the honey(good quality honey) stood out in this dish. While the entrée was good, it wasn’t amazing enough for either of us to want to come back, especially for the price. Even with the code, we paid about $ 90, which included one glass of overly sweet sangria. I certainly wouldn’t do the regular tasting menu. If I came back I might just order from the a la carte menu because I want to try their bastilla and tagine as I was disappointed that neither was included in my meal.

Reservations are required given the limited number of tables. First off, we were confused when we arrived. There was no attendant/host to greet us and mark down our arrival. We were left hanging out by the front door for about 5 minutes with a lost look on our faces. As soon as someone came from the back, it was a much smoother process from there on out. This place is really small where you may feel like you’re dining at someone’s house instead of a restaurant. I love the intimate and cozy setting, although some tables were a bit too close together. We were seated on a banquette bench with awesome decorated oversized pillows for support. I never had Moroccan food before and I was quite surprised! The presentation and flavor for every dish was stellar. My favorites were the pan seared halibut, seafood bastilla and their lobster salad. Each plate came at a very slow pace so be prepared for a leisurely served meal. Too bad Ryan Gosling wasn’t there =(

My rating does show 5 stars but there were a couple somewhat negative things I need to get out of the way first: I made reservations for Valentine’s day dinner. We got there right on time and waited for our host/ess to seat us… who was nowhere to be found for about 10 minutes. I mean, ok, no big deal, but it was awkward standing next to the tiny host table while several servers passed us by. Again, not a big deal… but it was a freakin awkward 10 minutes lol… maybe cos it’s such a small restaurant. You can see everyone and everyone can see you O_O So I got a call to confirm my reservation a couple days prior, and was told that there will be a V-day menu. As expected. I know that the regular tasting menu is $ 70 pp(not including wine pairings), so I expected the V-day menu to be just a liiittle more expensive. WELL it was NOT a LITTLE more expensive, it was almost double the price at $ 135 pp(NOT including wine pairings). I was majorly blindsided. Is this normal for V-day? I don’t do this kind of fine dining too often, but I feel like I should’ve been informed of this when I got my confirmation call. I don’t wanna sound like a little cheapskate brat but yanno what, $ 135 pp is a lot lol. Plus there were two of us and I told my bf I was treating him out… so double that, add tax, tip, beverages… and that equals no lunch for me for a week. Wish that price included Ryan Gosling time sigh so ~*dreamy*~ BUTTTTT despite the above, honestly… dinner was damn good lol. The place was nice and dim, very romantic lol, and I LOVE the couches! Perfect for snuggles while you eat! Haha if you know me, my favorite thing is to loaf in bed while eating and watching a movie/show. This was close lol. I’ve never had Moroccan food before, so I was pretty excited. We had 5 courses plus the amuse bouche, and every dish was amazing. I mean, no wonder they priced it so high, I ate so many different animals lol. I mean really… shrimp, lobster, scallop, salmon, halibut, lamb, and beef all scattered between 5 plates(the 6th was dessert so no animals there). I loved every single dish, even if I can’t name exactly what it was that I ate. I don’t think I need to break down every single dish for ya, but everyone should definitely come and try it for themselves. Shrimp(amuse bouche) Lobster Salad Seafood Bastilla(with scallops and salmon) Halibut Filet Lamb Chop and Filet Mignon Assorted Dessert Platter(chocolate soup, baklava, chocolates/truffles?, apple pie, flan, raspberry mousse?) It’s probably better that I upload some photos, because I can’t accurately describe these dishes and do them justice. My bf, who doesn’t like seafood(I feel like I mention this every time there is seafood and bf together), ate all his plates clean and loved them. Seriously though, food was SO delicious. ANDYESFINE, it was worth all that money I paid for it. I guess. lol I do have to mention… DESSERTWASFANFREAKINTASTIC. That chocolate soup… omg. The raspberry mousse(I’m not sure if it was a mousse though)… omg. Sigh. Everything on the dessert platter was drool worthy. AND the MINTTEA. They serve it to you warm/hot in a small glass, and it was like… the best tea I’ve ever had lol. I dunno why exactly, but this tea was magical. So… at the end of the day, my taste buds thanked me. That’s really all that matters for a fatty like me. And for that, 5 stars.

The highlight of Tagine, is the space, not the food. It’s an intimate 9 tables sliver of dimly lit Edison bulb goodness. It feels sort of like a speakeasy, in a since you feel hidden away in a secret room. The faint jazz music playing in the background solidifies the perfect atmosphere. My boyfriend and I tried the tasting menu with wine pairing. I believe it was $ 70 each plus $ 30 for the pairing. It included 6 dishes(one dessert. choc soup) with one amuse and 5 wines. The food was all just ok. I was underwhelmed by the lack of exciting flavors. The Tiger shrimp course was the only one I felt had nice spice and flavor. The wine was again, just ok. I felt they were a little stingy and the sommelier, really couldn’t be bothered. It felt like we were inconveniencing them and as they were trying to rush through each explanation of the wine. I would not recommend the pairing if you choose to do the tasting menu. The service also felt this way. Very little explanations of what we were eating or how best to enjoy it. The wait between courses I felt was too long. One other thing I felt very strange, they wouldn’t replace the silverware after each course. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, food is food. But the portion sizes are so small and each one is really quite different. So being left with a fork and knife covered in honey and cinnamon really doesn’t work well with next course… Unless you really like honey and cinnamon. Overall, the restaurant is beautiful. The food is expensive and and mediocre.
