Henry’s Wine Cellar

Great place, and right in my neighborhood. I love being able to walk there. Very good selection of beer and wine, and friendly staff. Being more of a beer guy, I’ve noticed that they seem to get a great variety of craft beer from all over the country (and a decent Belgian selection too). The one thing I’ll say is that you need to keep an eye on the bottle dates on the beers, since some are a little past their prime. Aside from that, everything about this place is fantastic.

These guys just aren’t trying. 70% of their beer is way paste its prime. Their Maine beer selection is over 6 months old. Maine beer is made to drink fresh this is just embarrassing. They also have specialty beers that are a way beyond their prime as well. Check the bottles if your gonna shop here most have the dates on them.

Henry’s has a great selection and competitive prices and now has Katrina as manager — the most experienced wine expert on the North Shore.
Katrina has travelled so much to taste and curate wines, with her personal recommendations, you feel like you have travelled with her. Her recommendations are spot on and always welcome.
I love this place and the personalized recommendations relative to the anonymous buying at the big warehouse stores.

After making our picnic selections at Henry’s fine foods next door, we stopped into the wine cellar for a champagne to pair. The salesperson guided me in the right direction for a reasonably-​priced but good quality choice.
While champagne was our goal, we also added a six-​pack of local saison and two other specialty beers to our purchase. You can easily walk away with an armful here. If you’re a local, grab a frequent buyer card.

We were on the lookout for drinks during a torrential downpour. Henry’s was the closest option for champagne and beer. They have a diverse beer selection from international, national and local breweries. The guy working that day admitted he’s more a wine expert, but he was able to direct pretty well through their beer selection. He also proved very helpful with the champagne selection.
Notable items we came away with were a 500ml Scottish Ale, Boulevard Brewing Co’s Rye on Rye, a Notch (local) Saison 6 pack, and a delightful Champagne (don’t recall the name, it was that good. ha!)

They hosted a private wine tasting for my friends and I and it was absolutely wonderful! Gino is extremely knowledgeable and was a great host. They picked out several wines for us to try and also had a really nice cheese tray. Our first event was during the blizzard, so we had to reschedule and they were very accommodating. I just love this place.

I’m surprised there is such positive feedback, but then I followed the original folks over from Beverly Wine when Henry’s bought them out, which made great sense (I’m a big Henry’s Market fan, have always been…) and it seemed pretty seamless and still wonderful for a while. Bit by bit though, the original people seem to be leaving and the wine selection is more limited than it used to be, including having dropped some of my old favorites…
I still wouldn’t hesitate to run in for a bottle or a few while shopping at Henry’s, but I’ve shifted my loyalty to a couple of local places that have better selection, prices, and staff as friendly and well-​informed as Beverly Wine was…
Net/​net, a nice little shop, but when buying wine by the case as is my tendency, I had to find a new go-​to place and am very happy that I have…
Oh — and their loyalty program that rewards with a $ 20 discount after 12 purchases, regardless of whether each purchase was one bottle or one case. Not real well thought-​out for the power wine shopper — I’d rather a slightly deeper case discount price, personally, the way it used to be. :(

I’m so surprised there isn’t more positive feedback for Henry’s. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and has NEVER steered me wrong when I asked for wine pairings with what I was going to make for dinner. Very friendly too. Bought 7 bottles my last trip. Highly recommend everyone check it out. Significant beer selection as well.

This place has a great variety and the staff are very knowledgeable in guiding you in the right direction to find the perfect wine that you are looking for.
I also happened to come in one day while they had a wine tasting going on, which was great! I ended up buying 3 bottles that I liked so much and was happy that I got to try them first.
