This is a very nice and upscale japanese restaurant, which boasts a fun twist! They have a very nice«Fusion Menu» which blends classic American dishes for the picky eaters, or children in your party! The atmosphere is very family friendly, but also maintains a very quiet(almost romantic) appeal, and makes a great dinner date location! The food is exceptional every single time I’ve been, and the prices cannot be beaten for such a fresh and extensive selection of sushi, Expert sushi chefs prepare everything right in front of you if you sit at the contemporary style bar, which is a very nice touch. Very fast, local delivery also, I only wish they spoke better english, as placing an order or getting a servers’ attention can prove challenging, but trust me– the food is worth any frustration!

I love this place! The giant Asahi can is a real head turner. I like the hibachi but I really love sitting at the bar, drinking a huge beer and eating some sushi. My favorite is the king of ocean. Kinda pricey but it’s so good I just don’t care. The Friday night bartender(can’t remember his name) is a blast. Can’t wait to go back.

Have been here a few times… Cosmo and Thai chicken wings are a perfect combination. Sesame chicken is also delicious. BF enjoys large Sappora beers and Sushi.

Always delivers good quality food! My family and I have eaten here numerous times. We love going to the hibachi side not only for the great show the chef puts on but the deliciously fresh food cooked right before your eyes. It’s worth the money to get the filet mignon over the sirloin steak. My husband likes the all you can eat sushi for $ 11.99 at lunch. If the hibachi side is full, as it was this last time we went you can still order the same food and eat it in the regular dinning room. *Crab Ragoons are excellent here!

I moved 2hrs away over a year ago & this is STILL my favorite sushi place! So excited every time I get a chance to visit. Same staff here for years, and they still remember my name. Highly recommend to everyone I know! Definitely a hidden gem in North Shore!

Had dinner with my best girl last night. Nice space with a bar, a sushi bar, a hibachi area and the dinning area. We started with the Thai wings. They were phenominal. Can’t say how good they were. Next i got the crocodile roll and the mikado roll. Both were awesome fresh made right in view of you. GF got the sesamie chicken. She liked it. Christina was our server. She was very good. I need lots of attention with my beer service. Want to go back soon.

1st time here for lunch. I was already starving before I arrived, but then still waited over half an hour for my food. By the time of arrival, we had already missed a majority of the lunch rush because it was almost 2pm. I ordered the Fuji special(I think that’s the name), but it was the steak and shrimp hibachi with vegetables and fried rice. When the food FINALLY arrived, the steak was overcooked and dry. The shrimp was overcooked. Thank goodness they had the ginger sauce on the side to give it some life! The rice and veggies were fine. My boyfriend ordered the sashimi lunch and his order came LATER than mine!!! With sashimi… there is ABSOLUTELYNOCOOKINGINVOLVED!!! Why in the world or HOW in the world did slicing up a few strips of fish and plating it take longer than cooking my well-done food??? Anyway… the waitress was fine. The place itself looks nice and it seems like they get a lot of business, which is good for them. Granted, I didn’t try out their sushi menu, but after this 1st experience, it’ll definitely be my last! There are many other hibachi restaurants that do a better job. Sorry guys!

My wife and I have been to Mikado many times. It is a typical pan-Asian restaurant with the menu offering Japanese and Chinese food with the usual smattering of Americanized dishes. It is not the best place I’ve eaten, and it is not the worst. The service is usually decent as are the food and prices. It is good enough that the convenient location and the fact that it doesn’t bust our budget makes it reasonable local dining option. We’re not regulars but we usually dine there once a month or so. Until this last meal, I would have given them a solid 3. September 3, 2015, was the first time we had any significant complaints. If the owners read this, you should know that we sat at Table E1, were served by SHERRY1, and our order # was 500913. I also left a comment on the check and sent you an email. We arrived before the dinner rush, and the restaurant was nearly empty. We asked for a free-standing table, but were given a booth with a sticky table surface(I quietly wiped it with a napkin dipped in tea.) The waitress was brusque and uncomprehending. I ordered for both of us; hot and sour soup and General Tso tofu for me(I’m vegetarian) and salmon teriyaki for my wife. When she heard the order for my wife, Sherry1 started to move us to the hibachi area either to get rid of us or because she really didn’t know that there was a non-hibachi version(at about half the price). We got our tea and soda, followed by the hot and sour soup, which was fine. Eventually the tofu was brought out. We waited for the second entrée, but it didn’t come to the table for another five or more minutes. We’ll get to the food in a minute. Sherry appeared and disappeared quickly. We never got the chance to ask for chopsticks, soy sauce, refills on our drinks or dessert. When she finally came back, it was to pile up our plates messily leaving a pool of sauce on the table into the middle of which she dropped the bill folder. My wife’s salmon teriyaki was dry and overcooked. Both the tofu and the sauce for my General Tso tofu were burned, not just crispy … burned. We were both unhappy and angry with the service and the food. By now the place had started to fill up and I decided not to vent to the manager in front of the line of customers waiting to be seated, so I decided to write an email to the manager. This was the first time we received anything other than good service and food. We were both extremely disappointed. We had hoped that this was just a bad night, but I am posting this to Unilocal nearly 3 weeks after sending the email to which I have still not received a reply. I have a feeling that they may just not care whether we come back again.

We were visiting my in-laws, who live in Beverly, from the Seattle area and decided to come here since our 3 kids(16, 13&10) like teppenyaki. Mikado is pretty simple and won’t win any design or ambience awards. It is pretty basic inside with a seating area for anyone ordering non-teppanyaki meals and a side room with four grills. The food was solid, not spectacular as 4 of the 7 in our party had steak and shrimp teppanyaki, and three others had other dishes(pad thai, basil chicken and sesame chicken). All teppanyaki orders come with a nice mushroom broth soup and nice salad. The waitress as well as the cook were super friendly and were very accommodating(I was surprised they let us eat other dishes at the grill). The kids enjoyed his act(was pretty similar to any other similar place you’ll go) and he put on a good show. The steak and shrimp were both cooked to order and the fried rice was delicious. The sesame chicken was delicious, all white meat, albeit a little heavy on the sauce. Same was true of the phad thai and basil chicken. Two of us ordered drinks — one scorpion bowl and a headhunter. The drinks were delicious and they can’t be accused of going light on the liquor, they certainly packed a punch. For Beverly, this is a solid addition to the dining choices and I’d have no reservations returning, either for teppanyaki or any other dishes on the menu. Service was strong, food was solid, interior was clean and comfortable. I don’t have anything negative. It won’t blow you away, but it is unlikely to disappoint.

ordered take out from here solely for the crab rangoons to try. I was dissapointed. Though they did not have chunks of onions(pleasant), there wasn’t much flavor to them. I just felt like I was biting into four corners of melted cream cheese. probably won’t be going back. off to another restaurant to find the ideal crab rangoon!

Food is good here but service was terrible. Take out often takes longer than they tell you on the phone, and the front desk is a confusing mess of orders. One guy was waiting 20 minutes before the host realized his order had been on the desk all along. When I went there for sit down dinner, my boyfriend and I waited 15 minutes at table without any service, and when waitress arrived she did not ask for our drink order, she asked what we wanted to eat and we had to point out to her that we had not been offered so much as a glass of water. Dumplings were delivered before our drinks, without chopsticks or eating utensils. We eventually flagged her down to ask for this, but 5 minutes later we had to ask again and our food had grown cold. Sushi was okay. Miso soup was good. The service really tainted our delayed Valentine’s dinner.

We recently moved to North Beverly and have dubbed this place our new favorite for sushi. The Mikado Special is my personal favorite for sushi rolls. The service is polite yet laid back — we really don’t like when the server is hovering. Best part is we have never waited for a table.

What an amazing experience. The staff is super friendly and know the menu, the food was amazing and we had a blast with our cook in the hibachi area. Plenty of parking. I would highly recommend going here

Wonderful place to get all you can eat sushi at lunch if you work near by! I occasionally order off the menu too and so far taste is good and quantity is reasonable for the price
