The Scotty Dog

It is what it is. If your looking for a good dog (Chicago style), like car hop service and want a feel of old time service, it is a must. Never had a bad experience.

Love it here! The food is delicious! I had a burger and fries. They were both amazing! Cody, the waiter was very friendly and attentive!

Dog was great. Got the jumbo which doesn’t have a casing and it was great. Their fries are very much like McDonalds and were great. The chili was not good at all though. Prices were amazing, I was shocked at how low they were. Will definitely stop by again.

The Scotty Dog has some of the best hot dogs I’ve ever had in my life. Although I’ve never been to Chicago, their Chicago dog is exactly what I would expect to have if I actually visited the Windy City. All the ingredients are super fresh, everything is made to order and the staff are always very pleasant. Plus who doesn’t love car hop service? Get the french fries they are excellent and if you’re feeling really adventurous, go for the poutine but be warned, you’re going to need a fork to eat it. The Scotty Dog is one of my regular go-​to spots. I highly recommend it!

It’s way past time that I update my review. We love The Scotty Dog.
I gave my first review, which was still positive, right after they opened. They were a bit overwhelmed and hadn’t gotten the kinks out of the operation yet.
Well, except when there’s a new carhop learning the ropes, which happens every so often, this is a pretty well-​oiled machine by now. It’s busy all the time but the wait is totally reasonable. Everyone is very friendly and laid back. It wasn’t long before they started recognizing us and taking a moment to chat.
In addition to great dogs they have really good burgers (the garlic burger is very tasty, but don’t expect a kiss unless your partner had one too!). The fries are nice and crispy, the condiments are interesting, and the polish sausage is good, too. They have Mercury sodas and a «dog float» with Mercury Root Beer & Richardson’s Ice Cream.
The only thing I wasn’t impressed with is the poutine – which is too bad, because the fries are really good. A slice of American cheese just isn’t the same as cheese curd.
I love «old time» places like hot dog stands and diners, and Scotty Dog doesn’t disappoint. The vintage car place across the street just adds to the «ambiance». Long live Scotty Dog!

Went hear for the first time last week the food was good service was great will be returning next time I’m in the area

I had one of these hotdogs a few weeks ago. Expensive. Lukewarm. And to be honest, eating a hot dog on a piece of sandwich bread is gross. I’d take a Nathan’s hotdog over this any day!

I just enjoyed two hotdogs from Scotty Dogs. The Stevie’s Dog was really good! It is a Chicago Dog with sliced cucumbers, tomato, neon green relish and a pickle slice (I think that’s everything). I know I’ll get that again. Great flavors! The second dog was the CFO Dog. This one was OK. It had mustard, caramelized onion and pickle relish. I didn’t like the caramelized onion — too limp and a little soggy.
I also tried the sweet potato fries and liked them. They are thin sliced and crispy. For a drink, I had an Ipswich Mercury orange cream. Really good.
This will be a nice treat once in a while. Should have tried them sooner.
Oh, and it’s Car Hop service. You don’t have to go up to the window to order.

I love going there on a nice spring, summer, or fall night. Marty (my boyfriend) and I love sitting under the stars eating a good hot dog and great soda from Ipswich. Then a walk on Dane’s beach. It is a bit pricey but a good size all beef dog.

The Scotty Dog is a great stop when you’re looking for a delicious hot dog with no frills. The menu is cheeky and the topping combos are interesting but not pretentious. It’s not gourmet, but it doesn’t pretend to be. The service is excellent. It would probably be hard to eat something as messy as the chili cheese dog in your car, so I’m glad we picked the picnic tables. My only complaint is more of a personal preference: I wish the chili had had beans (next time I’ll just get the baked beans).

Not bad, a bit overpriced at $ 4.25. Boston Hotdog company is same quality, but less cash.

Best Chicago Dog on the East Coast
The good folks at The Scotty Dog have flat-​out NAILED it. The perfect Chicago Classic Dog. This beauty is legit, from the Vienna Beef weiner to the steamed poppy seed bun, to that nuclear green relish. Just looking at it transforms me to Lakeside Drive in Chi-​town.
Added bonus are the soda options from Ipswich Soda, a perfect accompaniment!
Service was friendly and prompt, dog was outstanding. Do yourself a favor… next time you want a memorable meal, for the same price (or less) than those big boring burger hacks, go experience The Scotty Dog. You’ll be glad you did.

Great Reuben Dog. Good prices. Throwback drive-​up (not through) atmosphere. Good fries. Reasonable prices.

Chicago dogg! need I say more. This is what all hot dogs aspire to be. Either you hop a plane to chi town or go to beverly. Eat here now

I recently came here twice because I’ve always passed it but never tried it. The first time I ordered a hot dog and Burger. The hot dog was really good although $ 3.25. The Burger was extremely greasy, I posted a picture of the bottom bun which was just completely soaked. I wanted to walk up to order and wait which I did and was asked to go back to my car to wait which I didn’t want to I wanted to check out the place but I did. so I came back out of my car to take a look at the dessert menu and I believe the owner, an older man was talking to a group of people on the benches, was very nice and talked to many people but not me. maybe because I’m one person I didn’t get a hi or any conversation but it was weird watching him be so nice to other people and I got ignored.
The second time I ordered 2 toy burgers, 2 hot dogs, and sweet potato fries. when I picked it up and drove away, I realized that a hot dog was missing and the sweet potato fries we’re ridiculously burnt. so I called back to ask them to fix it and said I would be back in 15 minutes. I was a block away and gave them a call 23 min after my last call to check on the status of the food and it hadn’t been started yet. so I waited another additional 15 min or so for the food.
the car hop waitress was very nice with the red curly hair. but I was not satisfied with the service and the food was okay.

Cute hot dog stand and great service. Had the Sonora with fries Hot dog was quite good, nice plump hot dog and crispy bacon. Fries were good.

Just ate at the Scotty Dog and this was the best hot dog experience of my life. The staff was swift and friendly and all had smiles like they genuinely wanted to be there and were happy to help.
I ordered a small fry and 2 jumbo dogs… one was a specialty — the Matt dog. The dogs were delicious and big. The buns were definitely what made The Scotty Dog stand out. They were sesame hot dog buns and were amazing. The dogs themselves came out hot and had a lot of flavor.
The Matt dog that I got was a chilli/​cheese dog and was as advertised –messy and delicious.
The fries were solid. I am definitely coming back!

We have been here a few times and have enjoyed it every time! Yummy hotdogs, hamburgers and fries. If you are in the mood for good, fast, cheap food come to Scotty Dog!

I am new to the area and found this corner hot spot. Couldn’t have satisfied me more. I highly recommend it.
I went with the jalapeño cheddar dog with brown mustard and caramelized onions. The wife had a Chicago dog which was also delicious.
