Stanfield Marsh Boardwalk & Wildlife Preserve

Nice place to take a walk, though there is no water but the view is fantastic. It was pouring rain today, but when it stoped it was gorgeous. Will definitely come again to show family who I know will appreciate this place.

This was one of my favorite places in Big Bear! Just gorgeous. Walked in on Labor Day weekend and it was bone dry. However, there’s still some beauty to it without the water. There were plants and shrubs that grew out of the ground where there once was water and filled the valley up. It was beautiful to walk along the bridge and just take in the mountains and all the trees. It was like I was in Wyoming or Montana. It was vast and just out of this world. I love being out in nature. The bridge is rickety in some areas so be careful. Very easy walk, we even had a stroller with us and it was fine. Great activity and gorgeous views.

I love to see this place. Great view of Big Bear Lake, and the other side of trickle down. Boardwalk. Very nice. Danny Eggers takes loving photos for Big Bear Scenery and Sunsets for us. And in remembrance of his sister who was killed when she was 17 and his late wife Linda who recently passed. It is a calm and reflecting place. To the other side as it were.,

My family walked the boardwalk twice in a week — the water level had dropped dramatically. There is more dried, cracked mud than water — it’s sad. The water fowl are not going to thrive here for long. Trash was visible right out of the parking lot — something like a torn pillow and clothes? We discovered footprints in the dried mud that led to what appeared to be the spot where somebody decided to empty a purse of any cash and discard the rest.
All in all not a great spot anymore.

Here is another great place to get out and walk. I saw the bridges as we drove by and kept saying «i want to walk on those bridges». My kids thought i was nuts as i’m afraid of heights and not really fond of bridges, but sure enough, i found the little parking lot off the east side of the Stanfield cutoff and we pulled in. Walking was easy, although a little difficult for me. Not because of the walking, but because it was over the marsh lands on a bridge. The kids kept running to the edge of the bridge and looking over… i just stayed in the middle and plodded on through. It was pretty to look out over this part of the lake. I thought we’d see more animal life, but i guess it was the middle of the day and most of them were staying out of the hot sun. Over all, it’s a nice easy walk and the views are worth stopping here.

So peaceful and beautiful here. I love taking my girls for a peaceful walk in the brisk mornings.

My fiancée and I love to take our Berner and 8 month old to Stanfield Marsh (Baker’s Pond). Our dog loves to run through the overgrowth and play with other friendly dogs. When the water level is higher, it is a great place cast out. The only unfortunate part is the trail of trash people and sometimes dogs leave behind. Pack it in, pack it out. How can someone bring a full 12 pack and not be able to take an empty one out?
Anyways, I have met some great people walking their dogs down by the water. Hope we get some rainfall soon too! Always love taking in the beauty of Big Bear from here.

Nice leisurely walk to take in the beautiful view of the lake. We parked in the free lot at the corner of Stanfield Cutoff & Big Bear Blvd and walked a few steps to the start of the wooden bridge boardwalk. The bridge runs parallel to Big Bear Blvd and has two sections separated by a grassy area in between. It’s an easy stroll that took us about 5−10min for the first part of the bridge. Lots of beautiful photo taking opportunities. Great for a morning walk/​jog and dog-​friendly.

This is a great hike for families in Big Bear. My boys loved to explore the bridge and look at birds, fish, and insects. Must do anytime we are up in Big Bear vacationing.

Absolutely breathtaking and easy to do!
My family and I came to visit Big Bear for the MLK Holiday Weekend. Our rental cabin was only a 5 minute drive to this location and it was well worth it. The cross streets for this bridge/​area were Stanfield Cutoff and Big Bear Blvd. We parked ON Stanfield Cutoff just a little past Big Bear Blvd. You can park on the side and just walk to the little bridge. It’s easy and so refreshing.
We came here around 11am and probably stayed there for a good hour or so to just take in Big Bear’s beauty. Just be careful to watch your kids (and yourself!) if you park on the main street of Stanfield Cutoff because there are a lot of cars moving to and from this place.
You get to walk across this long wooden bridge that slightly goes over the part of the lake that meets the land. It’s a simple wooden bridge that sometimes sways if you move from side to side. My cousins liked to do just that — but it made it all the more fun!
The bridge is maybe a 5 – 10 minute leisurely walk from one end to the other. When you finish crossing it, it takes you to this little island flat where you can see the water and play with the rocks/​ice if you’re brave. It’s a sandy area where you can take some beautiful pictures and family portraits.
The kids had a great time picking up the chunks of ice and pretending to eat them or lick them. You could also hear the ice cracking as the temperatures got warmer.
All in all, it was gorgeous! I’d recommend this little place for any family-​oriented activity or for any photographer that likes to capture nature’s scenery in all of her beauty.

Park Kiddie corner from the am/​pm gas station. What a great wooden bridge along the waterfront. Go for a jog or a stroll, I recommend going for sunset… Spray for bugs though, you are at a marsh!

I love Big Bear and I love this place. What more can you ask for besides the beautiful relaxing nature here. Great for walking, running, fishing and cycling on the boardwalk and the surrounding area. Of-​course you can always just relax and take it all in.
Looks like they just made the parking lot a little better.

This is one of my favorite stops during my annual visit to Big Bear.

Loved this place. It was quiet even though several people were walking, fishing and cycling on the boardwalk. This would be a good place to meditate early in the morning. I found it to be nicer that the hyped and busy marina area and will go back when I visit.

This is a great area to walk around regardless of the weather. I prefer it during the winter because there’s less people and you get to see brave people walk out onto the frozen water. They’re nuts! The sunsets here are gorgeous. It’s dog friendly which is also a plus :)

This is a gorgeous little walk. In all the years I’ve been coming up to Big Bear, how did I miss this?
This year, I stayed about a half mile away, so I took this walk frequently.
It’s especially amazing at sunset. «Magic hour» over the lake is truly stunning.
It’s two stretches of boardwalk (each a few blocks long) that run over the water (about 25 feet offshore on Big Bear Lake.) There’s a little park-​like area in the middle, and another at the western edge of the lake.
This is an easy walk. Mild exercise, suitable for anyone who can comfortably walk 1 mile (you can also turn around at any point for a shorter walk.) In the winter, it can be a little muddy in the land areas around the boardwalk, so I’d recommend shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. If you want to do the whole boardwalk at a leisurely stroll, I’d allow an hour or a little more for the walk and return. If you’re a runner looking for a scenic stretch, it’s probably only 20 minutes roundtrip.
It’s harder to find the entrance on the east side. Most people (except for some locals) enter on the western edge. If you’re driving, just go to the intersection of Big Bear Blvd and Stanfield Cutoff, and park along the side of the road on Stanfield (it’s allowed.) You’ll usually see some fisherman on the bridge, and some other folks headed for the boardwalk. From Stanfield, walk back to the corner of Big Bear Blvd. & Stanfield and walk straight through the small corner pocket park to find the path.
Definitely worth checking out and taking some photos — especially an hour before sunset!

A really nice place for a relaxing stroll along the water. Boardwalk starts right at the parking lot off the NE corner of Stanfield Cutoff and Big Bear Blvd. When you get to the end, keep walking because there is a 2^nd section of boardwalk. We saw a lot of ducks, a couple geese, and I think a pelican.
