Nice hotel. This place is extremely convenient for being next to Snow Summit. The service here is great. This place is inside a house.

We stayed here over New Years and it was perfect. First off the location is super close to the snow summit chair lifts. What really makes this place a gem is the Caretaker, Mitch. He sees to your every need. The staff and Mitch go over and above to accommodate us during our stay. The breakfast each morning was fantastic and homemade! We highly recommend this great place! Thanks Mitch from the Balistreri’s!

This location was so convenient to snow summit (good place to learn how to snowboard for first timers). We practically walked out the back door and right up to the ticket windows! Also the host has a ton of equipment for a good deal if you need to rent.
Staying here felt so nice and cozy. We felt almost like we could stay in the whole 3 days we were there but opted to dine out and karaōke plenty. It has the kind of rustic cabin feel where you just want to walk around in your wool socks, drink cocoa and watch VHS tapes. Mich did an amazing job of making us feel comfortable. This was my first time at a BNB so I was nervous how it would be having someone at the house to make us breakfast every morning but the breakfasts were delicious and Mich is wonderful company. It felt more like being at the home of a friend!
For an awesome treat stay in the Summit Room if you can. Great view of the slopes with it’s own balcony and a nice tub for soaking in. Will definitely return :)

We stayed at the Switzerland Haus for a weekend and we are so glad we did!
It is a charming B&B and is one of those very cozy places where one can just unwind and relax. Mitch is very personable, and he and his team are amazing. They do an excellent job of making sure your stay is relaxing and pleasant.
We stayed in the Mountain View Suite. Our room was large and had many amenities to include: free WiFi, cable TV, large fireplace, wonderful view of Snow Summit and mountains, rear patio, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, dual sinks, separate toilet/​shower room, skylights, vaulted ceilings, gorgeous wood paneling and a large walk-​in closet.
The daily breakfast was great and Mitch does an excellent job of making you feel welcome. He really goes out of his way to dedicate his attention to you and ensures all of your needs are met. Really outstanding customer service.

On our honeymoon in August 2015. The summit room was amazing! This is right next to snow summit so a great place to stay during winter. Summer time however was very nice as well from the b&b it is about a 1.5 mile hike to the village where there is some great shopping and some awesome restaurants we made a day of this. You can also take the chair lifts up
To the top of the mountain and eat some BBQ or hike up top.
The breakfast here was delicious every day and it was fun to meet so many different people staying at
The house. Michel will sit and talk with you over breakfast and we had some great conversations! This was my first experience at a bed and breakfast and it was awesome!!!

This is another hidden charm in Big Bear. I highly recommend this to everyone that enjoy getting out of the city. Location, location, location… It sits right below Snow summit and several campgrounds. If you breakfast, this is the place to be. Mitch and his staff make it pop, pop, pop.
Just let them know what time you want to be served and it shall be done.

I know the old saying, location, location, location. But how about breakfast, breakfast, breakfast!!! This place is super convenient for skiing. But the break fast’s are amazing!!! They are a perfect combo of all the food groups you will need to ski!!! Mitch is a great host, he will just sit there and talk to you. He is a nice guy.

This was the best experience we could have had. Breakfast was so good… and Michel and Terri are awesome. The Snow Summit is right out the back gate, the grounds were so relaxing and full of wildlife, it was a wonderful place to be. We have been to Big Bear a few times and now have a home when we go back. Thank you friends.

I had a wonderful experience at this B&B. With clean and cozy rooms, easy parking, welcoming staff, and perfect location, it’s amazing the prices aren’t higher. I will definitely stay here again for my next trip to Big Bear.

Wow, we have stayed at this place 5+ times in the last few years and will continue to stay here. Mich. is super friendly and always helpfull. I have been here for snowboarding in the winter and Mt biking in the summer. its always clean, super easy to get to the lifts and onsite parking.

I love this place! I spent a weekend here and it was fabulous. Mich is so nice ! The place is absoluetely beautiful and clean. Very cozzy, I felt like at home. The location is perfect if you want to go hiking, zip line, lake, boat rentals, restaurants Everything! The breakfast was delicious and healthy (it kept me full for a long time Wow) This place is affordable, worth the price. The other couples that stayed there werereally nice and friendly as well (we all had breakfast together every morning) Snow Summit is right in the backyard

My 8 year old daughter and I spent our «girls weekend» at Switzerland Haus during a March weekend. She had just learned to ski and I liked the convenience of the B&B to Snow Summit. Besides the great location, here are the other reasons why you should stay at Switzerland Haus:

This is the place to stay to snowboard or ski at snow summit. The house is located right at the base of snow summit and you literally walk though their backyard into the parking lot of snow summit.
We used to have to get up really early in order to drive to snow summit before they open so we can get a close parking space, but staying at this bed and breakfast made it a much less stressful and enjoyable experience. The rooms are well maintained, all very spacious and the innkeeper, Mich is very warm and friendly. Breakfast is provided daily at 9am and then it’s time to hit the slopes.
Excellent location to stay for a day at the slopes.

My friends and I decided to stay at this B&B at the last minute during Thanksgiving since snow summit opened up early this year. Most of the rooms were already booked, but we were able to snag the last 2 rooms. This was our first time staying here and it was a really pleasant experience.
All the rooms were booked during the time we were there, but it didn’t feel crowded at all… very large rooms with lots of space to hang out. We stayed in the Zermatt room, but spent most of our time int the living room by the fireplace. Everyone we met were really friendly and it was fun talking to the other guests.
I woke up at 8am on the day after Thanksgiving and looked out into the backyard from our balcony… the parking lot for snow summit was already packed! It was so nice not having to worry about when we need to «get going» since we’re so close to the slopes.
Breakfast was at served at 9am, so I went downstairs and met our innkeeper, Mich. He’s really nice and pleasant to talk with. He’s been managing this B&B for the last 14 years! Our first breakfast consisted of warm chocolate chip muffins, baked egg casserole with cheese and salsa, fresh fruit, coffee and OJ. Our 2^nd day breakfast consisted of baked apple puff pancake, blueberry muffin, fruit, coffee and OJ.
After breakfast, we changed into our snowboarding gear. There is a small room where you can store and change into your gear in the back of the house leading to the backyard. There’s also a sauna in the backyard for guests to use.
We went on a few runs. then just walked back to rest and then my bf went back for another run before they closed for the day.
We drove into The Villege for dinner and grabbed desserts to enjoy by the cozy fireplace.
We spent most of the night relaxing by the fireplace… either watching tv, surfing the web, and catching up on some reading. Cell phone service with 3G and 4G LTE were nonexistent inside the house… luckily…there was free WiFi with a good signal so we had no problems surfing the web during our trip.
Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was recently remodeled so there’s new tile flooring, a larger enclosed shower, new granite counter top, new facet, and new toilet. There are individual heaters in each room, so you can adjust the temp easily. There’s a large closet along with a wooden dresser for all your clothes. Each room also has a DVD/​VCR combo TV. They offer a selection of movies for you to use, but you can always bring your own movies to watch either in the living room or in the comfort of your own room.
Mich showed us around so we can see what the other rooms looked like after some people checked out and they were all beautifully kept, all with balcony access.
For light sleepers… I would recommend bringing a pair of earplugs for the noise since you can sometimes hear your neighbors talking or walking around and eye shades to block out the early sunlight.
Overall, we had a very relaxing weekend and can’t wait to go back again when there’s more snow! This really is a very convenient location to stay if you’re here for snowboarding and skiing at snow summit. You really can’t stay get any closer than here.

Location. Location. Location. It’s all about location when you go skiing, and Snow Summit is literally in Switzerland Haus’ backyard. Exit through their backdoor, and you’ll find yourself in Snow Summit’s parking lot. This is such a plus when you’re trying to hull gear to the mountain.
Besides its location, this quaint bed and breakfast is a true find for several reasons.
Accommodations — Our room was well maintained, spacious and clean. The photos posted on their website are true to form. We stayed in the Innsbruck room which faced the street. Our room included a balcony which is shared with the neighboring room (St. Moritz).
Parking — They have a small lot. One spot per room, I believe. Very convenient so you don’t have to deal with the crowds for the resort.
Innkeeper — Mitch is a warm, genuine person. Each morning, he greeted us and stopped everything he was doing to talk. He chatted with us during breakfast as well. Not only was he welcoming, he was also accommodating. The check-​in and check-​out process was super easy. We felt that Mitch was available «²⁴⁄₇.»
Breakfast — Served promptly, and the dining room overlooks the mountains. I was torn between eating fast so we can get to the slopes and eating slowly so we can enjoy the hearty meal. We had waffles, sausages and fruit the first morning, and in the second we were served egg casserole and fruit with warm chocolate muffins.
Other — We got a very reasonably price Lift and Lodge package. (Oh yeah!) They also have a room for changing into and storing your gear.
I agree with Amy L. I hesitate to write about Switzerland Haus because it is a hidden gem, but I had to write about it because we had such a pleasant stay. It’s the first place we’ll call the next time we go to Snow Summit.

I’m hesitant to post a review because I know it’ll mean people might find out about this place. It’s small and quaint, 5 rooms total. You walk in and the staircase to the rooms is in front of you, but if you peek around the sides you’ll see the kitchen, the lounge, and the dining room. This is the perfect little place to sit by the fire (that you stoke yourself), or enjoy their morning breakfasts.
I’ve only been here in the winter and it was AWESOME. Waking up to the smell of fresh coffee and breakfasts made fresh, then literally walking out the back door and onto the Snow Summit lifts! Yes, their back fence borders the parking lot! That’s right: you drive in to Switzerland Haus, get comfy, walk to the lifts, walk back, and open a beer by the fire! Plus, they’re not too far down from The Village! (Not walking distance, but a short straight 10-​minutes-​in-​the-​snow drive.)
There is a room for your snow gear at the back entrance, and you have a key that lets you into the house and your room. I stayed in the Insbrook room, which has a deck facing Switzerland Road. This ought to be awesome in the summertime!
Rates were reasonable, and really since it means you don’t have to drive anywhere it’s super-​affordable for the location.
