Great service, really cool atmosphere. Excellent food. All the fun seemed to be on the bar side, though! I really like that this is fine dining but not pretentious. We dressed nice, but I’m pretty sure we would have been treated just as well in jeans. Phenomenal wait-staff. We are young, tattooed, and usually eyeballed walking in a joint like this. We don’t care, but it’s worth mentioning for the sake of anyone that does, that here, that wasn’t the case. My boyfriend got a steak the size of his face. It was delicious. I got the shrimp and crab St. Patrick. I don’t want to know how much butter I ate lol but I’m betting it was a stick. It was really good. I took off one star because there was one thing I didn’t like, the little pasta shells down in the bottom. I think it took away from the dish. They were kind of hard too. But they were all the way at the bottom and I had eaten through every other delicious thing in that odd little crock(it’s like a 4 hole crock, almost like a mini muffin tin, which I didn’t notice until I had eaten all of the delicious shrimp and crab on top) so really, it wouldn’t stop me from ordering this again. The prices are high, yes. Maybe a little too high. Also my reason for 4, not 5, stars. But just a little. I felt like it was, for the most part, worth it, and we will definitely return.

While visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast, I felt the experience wasn’t complete without a meal at the world famous Mary Mahoneys. It was a Friday evening and the weather was splendid. For this reason, we opted for the glassed in porch in lieu of one of the rooms in the home. You enter through the courtyard and a small maze to the bar where the locals hang out. Entering the restaurant, there are several small rooms with tables. Some are bricked walls. Others are decorated inside the home. We opted to sit in the porch. Service: I never identify myself as a tourist, but did so this time because of the reputation of the restaurant. Our waitress didn’t tease us and was quite helpful in explaining the nuances of the dishes we asked about. Throughout the meal, our questions were answered quickly, and correctly. The service was impeccable. The food: in lieu of the soup de jour, we opted for a cup of the seafood gumbo. It was complete with a plethora of shrimp, traces of okra, crab and rice. The flavor carried a bit of heat… but not overbearing. It was wonderful. Our party settled on three of the entrees on the right side of the menu. I got the stuffed snapper. It was heavenly. Dessert after the meal was savor end. I got the apple pie. The lobster entrée was a bit much for a member of the party. It was such a large serving, there was no way for her to finish it. Our bill totaled about $ 150 for three, excluding alcohol. It was woth every cent. I high recommend this place… at least once in your life because of the historic nature of the location(having survived hurricanes Camille and Katina) as well as the food.

I had the crab claws and they are amazing! I still can’t get them off my mind and would love to go back to Biloxi just so I can go to Mary Mahoney’s again. They have the best service and atmosphere around.

My wife and I were invited here for my in-laws’ anniversary, and we can’t wait to come back. The atmosphere is great! Our waiter was very entertaining and helpful, and the food was wonderful.

Easily one of the best restaurants on the Gulf Coast. Everything we have ordered here was perfect. Great atmosphere and ambiance. Best bread pudding. Steaks and seafood are impeccable. Well worth a visit.

Didn’t get a chance to even rate the food. We were seated and not acknowledged for 20 minutes. They were not busy at all. Not even half full. No one even so much as brought us a water. We ended up walking out. HORRIBLESERVICE!!!

Not worth it. Over-priced for unspectacular food. Better off at Corks n Cleaver, Vestige, or Thirty-Two for gourmet/artisan dishes. The owner kept walking around all the tables, except ours, talking to the patrons and asking how their food was. We were the only non-Caucasian people in there(and the youngest). Had to get someone to get our waiter because he took a while at first. Won’t be returning because nothing was special. One of the few times Unilocal did us wrong.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed dinning at Mary Mahoney’s this past Saturday! We were celebrating a college graduate and this venue turned out to be the perfect lunch spot after the ceremony! First, our waiter was magnificent! I believe his name was Nigel! He provided stellar service and made sure that all of our needs for lunch were met! Secondly, the gumbo was amazing and the stuffed flounder was indeed delicious! Overall, the ambience and atmosphere was pleasant with a true southern feel! Although, I reside in Miami, Florida, when I’m home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast… I plan to visit Mary Mahoney’s again! Next time, for dinner!

I was in town for a conference, it’s a good thing I don’t live here because I’d be broke and fat. This place was a bit pricey, definitely not covered by my per diem, but had to go based on the reviews. The house is very cool inside and out. Small rooms, typical of the time period it was built, are cozy and romantic. Service was good. The house made vinaigrette is great. I had the stuffed snapper as an entrée and saved room for the famous bread pudding. My entrée was fantastic, but I wasn’t so impressed by the bread pudding.

Traveling for business and came across this awesome spot. It was a suggestion from a local. Original building built in the 1700s right off the 90. The Stuffed Snapper was cooked to perfection, stuffed with shrimp and lump crab and a cheese sauce. My co worker had the veal and he couldnt stop raving about it. We tried a couple of different desserts and my suggestion is either the key lime pie or the bread pudding. Great service, great food, and of course the amazing southern hospitality… I will be back…

My absolute favorite place on the coast. We’ve eaten here several times over the years and I can never say a bad thing about it. The service is always the best on the coast. Their wait-staff is professional… maybe the only professional staff in Mississippi. When you eat at Mary Mahoney’s, you feel like you are at a five-star restaurant in New Orleans… except that it’s Biloxi, and as such, it’s pretty casual. You wouldn’t be out of place wearing a jacket here, but you certainly don’t need one. My favorite appetizer is the broiled crab claws. Do not order them fried!(Frying a crab claw should be illegal.) We order them every time and then sop up the leftover butter and garlic with hot, fresh bread. I try to make these at home, but they are never as good. The gumbo is also great(and can be ordered by the gallon if you need a Christmas gift for someone.) We’ve ordered the entire menu it seems, and never had a bad meal. I tend to like the paneed trout and flounder dishes topped with all manner of shrimp, crab or other shellfish. The steaks are also delicious… swimming in their own juices. One of my favorite things on earth to do is to grab their lunch special in the courtyard or the bar… but be prepared, the crawfish étouffée(always served as a side) is atop spaghetti noodles, not rice. Good stuff.

Located in the historic Old French House built in 1737, Mary Mahoney’s provides an upscale dining experience in one of the oldest homes in the U.S. Satisfy your hunger with the ultimate surf and turf menu of stuffed snapper, lobster, and filet mignon while enjoying the elegant ambiance of high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and open fireplaces. Don’t forget to leave room for Mary Mahoney’s famous bread pudding with rum sauce.

After winning a grand at the casinos, my friend and I stopped by here for a winner’s dinner. We found awesome/friendly service(epitome of southern hospitality) and delicious food! We had these menu items: 1) STUFFEDSNAPPER A lightly seasoned filet of snapper generously stuffed with our superb shrimp and crabmeat au gratin baked to perfection and accompanied by pasta topped with crawfish etouffée. 2) SHRIMPANDLUMPCRABMEAT(ST. PATRICK) The Garlic Lover’s Delight — A spinoff of our escargot. We remove the snails and replace them with a touch of spinach, shell pasta, and jumbo shrimp. We then bake it in a garlic butter sauce and top it off with sautéed lump crabmeat. 3) Mary Mahoney’s Famous Bread Pudding with Rum sauce All three were amazing and tasty. That bread pudding rum really hits you in the face(in a good way). I’ll be back here after I win more money and feeling a steak dinner. Grade-A recommendation for the winners(or losers) in Biloxi!

It’s been over 10 years since I’ve been here and I’m glad it’s still around! We loved every bite, best gumbo in town! Make room for the bread pudding and make room for steamed buttered crab claws! I could just eat those all day!!!

Ahhh Yes, someplace that I can give a five star to. I have been here both before and after Katrina multiple times. I love the Gratin Crab, the Gratin potatoes and everything. Steaks perfection some of the best I have had! The best in the south I would say. The seafood is always fresh cooked to perfection and makes me have memories of this place all the time. The ambiance is also spot on perfect, nothing I would change. The staff is amazing, I have had the same waiter here the last four or five times and he has been there over 25 years. The only thing that I would chance is that this place was closer to where I live, other than the fact that I would gain so much weight after living close to this place.

Ventured out of the Beau Rivage again for late supper looking for something with local flavor. This place has history and is like dining in a museum with great food. Our waiter, Robert, had worked here for 38 years and was the picture of old Southern charm and etiquette. I had a medium-rare Queen-sized(6oz) filet, baked potato, and salad. My filet was perfect! Simply served w/au jus and an onion ring on top. Full of flavor without needing anything extra. The au jus was so good I sopped(yes, sopped) my bread in it! My hubby had the prime rib and… OMG! It was tender and full of flavor like none other I’ve had to date. We ended the meal with the Bourbon Pecan(PEE-can) pie that was slap-your-grandma good! I had a glass of wine as well and total meal was @ $ 90, which I feel is completely reasonable for the level of service and quality of food we found here!

Turned out to be everything we could’ve asked for. Location was great in an old historic building. Kind’ve wild to think about all the damage Katrina inflicted. Service and food were great, and we really had a great time. Steaks cooked to perfect medium Gratin with crab and lobster was so rich it could’ve been a desert! Will definitely return next time I’m in Biloxi.

Several weeks ago, I joined 11 other co-workers for dinner at this precious French Cottage on the Gulf Coast! We shared a couple of Presidential Platters featuring sautéed crab claws and small fried soft shell crabs. One of the platters had fried crab claws served with cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Both offerings were wonderful! Our party ordered everything from filet mignon topped with crabmeat to the daily fish special. Everyone at the table LOVED their meal. Yes you can order southern fried seafood or stuffed flounder or steak. There is something to please everyone’s personal taste. We skipped dessert because of the generous servings but I can only imagine how wonderful they are! Maybe next time! Mary Mahoney’s has a nice wine selection and full bar. Service was great! It is located directly across from the Hard Rock and Beau Rivage for your convenience if you are staying on the Coast.

An awful lot of fried foods on the menu of this«upscale» restaurant… I mentioned that to a colleague and he said«Well, it is Gulf Coast seafood,» insinuating that Gulf Coast = fried. Yes, this place has history but what I can only assume is the main dining area in the back has all the ambiance of a banquet hall at an off-highway Holiday Inn. The waiters dress appear to harken back to the good old days of Southern hospitality. So, the food. Hmm, w bit pricey in my estimation based on the quality I encountered. I ended up eating the soft shell crabs which had little crab taste due to the overabundance of breading. The other people in my party had a variety of items from the Twin Sisters(described as merely«good») to the scallops(described as «great») and the clam chowder(«good»). Considering the prices paid, I was expecting higher quality and more«greats» from my colleagues. So if you’re in Biloxi and you’re thinking of seafood, Mary Mahoney’s is an acceptable restaurant. However, I’d recommend asking the locals for a recommendation — just disregard if they mention this place because I think it’s kind of a default reply.
