I was told this used to be a hipster bar. It’s more of a regular local hangout now. Named after Abel Bennett, a prominent man in early Binghamton history and landowner of a large tract of land, including where this now sits, it’s cool to me it retains its history even if that is lost on virtually every other patron. The outback area, which is fenced in but literally in the middle of a quiet neighborhood, is just as big as the interior. Usually busy and not much room around the bar make it awkward to get a drink sometimes but the prices are decent and the waitresses are nice. Despite the positives it is lacking something. the appeal to go there just doesn’t exist to me. idk what it is. Nice place but not for me.

The old Pine Lounge! This is a great local watering hole. Even people I’ve spoken to from out of town seem to have a good time here. The inside is completely redone. It has a nice friendly atmosphere and is generally laid back depending on the crowd. The bartenders are attentive and never make you wait too long to get a drink. They only accept cash however– but there is an ATM. They also have a back patio behind the bar for smokers which is pretty nice. They do not have a full kitchen but they usually have something different every night to tide you over and its always cheap(under $ 3)!
