Food is absolutely fantastic. Unique foods with great flavor combinations. The price is a little high, but worth it. The servers have always been very great and very nice. The hostess has always been very pretentious and very condescending.

I came here with my friends for restaurant week. Make sure you call ahead to get seated because we had to wait for a while but was eventually seated at the bar. I definitely recommend the short ribs and the ahi tuna poke. The short ribs were tender and awesome. The poke had fresh tuna but the rice had a weird texture but nontheless it was my favorite dish. This restaurant specializes in «tapas» but these are much bigger than tapas. I also got the Mac and cheese because I saw a lot of other people ordered it. It was good but wayy too heavy and indulgent. All of my friends who ordered it were not able to finish their macs.

It’s a «cool» bar in Binghamton area. If this was in the city it would just be «meh» but in Binghamton it’s probably one of the coolest places to hang out. Good selection of beer/wine/cocktails, descent food and good service. It’s on an expensive side in the area but you are kind of paying for the atmosphere too. I would definitely go back!

Great selection, tasty food, diverse drinks, and fast service with a chill atmosphere. The chocolate chip cookie soufflé was to die for! Tapas style works great for small groups.

Was looking for a place to grab«fun cocktails» and dinner… Social on State did not disappoint. Its beer list is diverse and the cocktails are creative and delicious. We ordered three dishes for two people and everything was perfectly portioned. I could have eaten all night because each dish was rich but because you keep switching up what you’re getting no taste gets boring. After dinner, we moved to the bar for another round of drinks. It was Sunday night and the crowd was small, but good for a Sunday in the winter. The drinks were extremely competitively priced. The service was quick. Each dish was perfectly timed by the kitchen/wait staff. Will definitely be back.

The food is great — love the tapas style and options for trying a little bit of everything. Great place when you’re with a small group. Nice selection of beers and service was good. It’s on my top 3 for Binghamton!

absolutely loved everything here. the waitress was super sweet, and she gave very good suggestions on what to order. we had the cheese fondue– the pretzel bread was the best, potatoes were ok, I honestly expected to like the apples and cheese but it wasn’t too impressive. would definitely order it again but with all pretzel bread. also got a special, it was a spicy ahi tuna tartar tower with crispy wontons. it was amazing. delicious and fresh. we then got a filet mignon– very delicious. everything was very good. I had two drinks, the triple S — it was very sweet and light(alcohol-wise), like juice. and a not so smoring for dessert– it had a toasted marshmallow and everything. it was so good– and way stronger. in short, I will definitely come back and I will definitely bring friends and family here.

This place is superb! No complaints except for the lack of toilet paper. My extra dry martini tasted like a bit of heaven. I stopped in on my truck to NYC and would of loved to stay longer if my ride wasn’t eager to get to NYC

I’ve been to Social a handful of times and each time it’s just okay. The bartenders and hostesses are just really pretentious for some reason(maybe because it’s an «upscale» bar because it’s not on the main part of State St.). At any rate, the drinks are really the only reason to go. Thursday’s the have especially good drink specials, my favorite is the Green Apple. I’ve had a few different menu items but they’re just so overpriced to justify actually going there to eat. Overall they’re definitely a better choice than most places in Binghamton if you’re looking for a chill, comfortable place to get drinks or hang with friends after work.

I’m a frequent business traveler. Upstate NY is my venue. Enjoyed a very good dinner at Social on State yesterday as part of a group of five. The atmosphere is hipster casual. The service was excellent, and the bar is well stocked. They feature some specialty cocktails. I had the bar’s version of a Manhattan, the«Granhattan». Very good, if a tad sweet for my taste. For dinner, we all split the small plates. For a small upcharge, they add another portion; which worked out well for our group. We started w/the cheese platter, which featured a nice selection of some good, local cheeses. The home made rosemary crackers were great. Nice presentation, and a good way to start. For the main, I ordered Lamb Lollipops, and the Steak Tatar. Both were excellent. The Lamb was ordered rare, and came to the table perfectly cooked. Three chops for $ 18 is a decent value such a nicely prepared dish. The Steak Tatar was a generous portion on a bed of greens, served w/three or four toast slices. Again; very good. One of my friends ordered the duck, which was absolutely fantastic. Another ordered the Sea Scallops which, once again, really were fabulous. Fresh and very tasty. A heaping bowl of Mac ‘n Cheese found it’s way to the table. The smoked Gouda made the dish; though it would have benefited by something to add some texture; maybe some breadcrumbs on top? It was tasty, but wasn’t a stand out. We also had Mediterranean Trio, which comprises a generous portion of grilled pita and a selection of three versions of Humus. Good, but again, a little uninspired. On the whole, this is a solid restaurant, and we all enjoyed ourselves. The waiter was attentive and friendly w/o being in our way. The food came to the table in a well choreographed fashion, so there was always something new and interesting appearing. Bravo!

Went to Social on State on Valentines Day. Did not have reservations but we were able to get a spot at the bar which turned out to be fine. We loved the food and loved the atmosphere. I look forward to my next visit.

Had an absolute amazing experience. House fries with barbecue sauce are absolutely delicious. Even the chicken was simply staggeringly delicious. Great music to top off an absolute wonderful night. The DJ even played an Indian song on request. Highly recommended.

I came here for a friend’s birthday dinner a few weeks ago. The food was delicious, but there aren’t many options for vegetarians. I ordered the mac and cheese, which was decent. Overall, great atmosphere and fabulous food(according to my meat-eating friends).

My class reunion was here– go high school! It was fantastic to see everyone without a Facebook filter. My one regret is that I didn’t get here sooner. It was wonderful. The tapas were great. The drinks were strong enough to make me feel like I’ve done something useful with my life. I went back and had a margarita with some people I actually like and had a really lovely time on the back deck.

Unfortunately the bartender try pull a «fast one» on me when ordering a Moscow Mule and used well Vodka. When asked — the bartender stated they had ran out of Stoli Vodka. I pointed to it on the shelf and he said the next drink was on him.

Great quality food BUT very poor service. I really hope it is just our server that was rude, unresponsive, intrusive, not caring, and talkative(in a very unfriendly manner). Otherwise I will be reluctant to visit again albeit the satisfying quality of food. It’s a bar! The servers in bars usually don’t say«it’s not possible b/c we have fixed portion for the cocktails, but… HOPEFULLY» in an helpless manner when we ask for a really minor modification for the cocktail!

Let’s start with the food. Social is making amazing, satisfying, delicious dishes. Creative food, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced for the portions. The scallops were divine, though there was a little bit of grit left in one of mine. The Boston Bibb salad was fantastic, my steak skewers were perfectly medium-rare and it was all I could do not to eat what was left of the blue cheese fondue once the skewers were gone. The pork loin with Angry Orchard glaze and sweet potato purée was fantastic. This is a restaurant that managed to make beets palatable. Impressive! The dipping sauces served with the fries took them to a whole new level. The presentation of the ahi tuna tartare was impressive. I’ve had great service here, too. Caili, our waitress on the past two visits, had mastered the art of being there exactly when we need her. Our water glasses were always full, dishes seemed to disappear as soon as they were empty. Though I didn’t sit at the bar, the bar staff was accommodating, making me a nonalcoholic haitorade that tasted just as good as a traditional one. Finding a place that can make delicious, exciting, booze-free drinks is a joy! The atmosphere is quite nice. Earlier in the evening it’s more of a dinner crowd, later it gets a little louder, but the place seems to maintain its classiness no matter what mix of people is in there. Will I go back? Yes. If I could eat there every day, I might! We spent about $ 70 for four dishes and three nonalcoholic drinks. It was absolutely worth every penny! This is bound to become a regular stop on my downtown rotation.
