The food was surprisingly decent, which is hard to find here in Binghamton. The french dip according to my partner was good. We shared chicken strips, and truffle mac & cheese. We were very pleased with our food. I did note in the pictures that the look of the mac & cheese is not consistent, which makes me wonder will it be as good the next time? The service was good, our drinks came fast, our food in decent time. The atmosphere was awful. It was cramped, and so loud we could hardly hear each other talk over loud screams yelling and banter from the bar area. This mind you was at 5pm on a Saturday. The tables were peeling, and the chairs not exactly comfortable. Shame because the food was nice.

Stopped in again and my experience was even better than the first time! This time, the sweet and knowledgeable bartender, Jasmine, served me. I highly recommend the chicken spiedie taco and the IPAs on tap! Thanks Jasmine, and thanks to the Colonial!

Binghamton alumni and recently patronized this restaurant. Chef prepared wonderful appetizers and dinner. Craft menu was on point. As with many great restaurants it is not just about making sure the food is appetizing. Look forward to dining again.

Good atmosphere and service. Food was so so but the beer selection makes up for it. ½ off Happy Hour and a variety of specials makes this worth a visit.

On way back from road trip, was the only bar open on new years versus the 2 breweries we checked. Cool architecture. Lots of local beers, although a bit on the pricey side. Mediterranean salad good. Worthy stop.

We went there on a Wednesday night for dinner, and it wasn’t incredibly busy. While we were seated right away by a host, nobody ever came back to our table. We waited 15 minutes and nobody stopped by to offer to get us waters or even acknowledge us before we left. Luckily there are enough other local restaurants that want to serve their customers that we were able to eat elsewhere. Not worth it and not going back.

Tldr: This place is worth it. Stop reading and go to the Colonial, order a drink at the bar and grab an appetizer. You won’t be sorry. I’ve been here three times now and looking forward to my fourth. They’ve never disappointed. This place scores high in the areas that matter; atmosphere, service and menu. Did I mention the beer menu? My brother is a beer guy and he still talks about it. I’m a whisky guy and they had a decent selection, even a Japanese malt. I came in on a busy night and even then the service was excellent. The last time I was there I had some Brussels sprouts and a grilled cheese that still makes my mouth water, yum! Seriously why are you still reading this? Go enjoy dinner and make sure to leave a review if they impress. Good spot, the bar has been raised in downtown Bing.

Genuinely great and much-needed new spot Downtown. I’m a big fan of the wings and fries, and they have a really solid beer selection. They have a great crew. Owner is a really nice guy.

This place is on point! A great addition to the thriving downtown businesses. The building is dressed up in Christmas lights, inside and out, that provides a warm cozy feeling. They’re food is a traditional pub feel, but tweaked enough that it is the best food I’ve had. I had the grilled cheese flight(3 different kinds of grilled cheese served with a bowl of creamy tomato soup), the Parsnip potato latkes(served with a side of apple butter and dill infused sour cream), and their House Wings. All of them were mouth watering. The staff was great. They had 21 different high end beers on draft. I cannot recommend this place any more than I already am!

The Colonial is a great spot for drinks and food, great beer selection! I have had the roasted brussels sprouts, truffle parmesan fries, truffle mac and cheese and their wings in the multiple times I have been there. The house wing sauce is amazing! Highly recommend. The only downfall of this place is that the staff seems like they really don’t care about their jobs. If the servers and bartenders seemed a little more upbeat, this place would definitely get 5 stars.

Disappointed in the lack of professionalism. The staff can wear whatever they please — from short skirts to sneakers. Also a server kept her writing pad in the back of her pants. Serving etiquette should be discussed.

Great spot. Atmosphere: Relaxed, divish atmosphere, but nicer than a full blown dive bar. Beer: Around 16 taps. Well chosen. All craft. Many local. I had the Galaxy Andromeda IPA and Keegan’s Joe Mama’s Milk Stout. Both excellent. Food: Great menu. I had the roast beef sandwich, served with au jus and delicious fries(battered). Meal was awesome.

I’m shocked to see all the bad reviews on here. As a beer lover, this place is awesome. They are always updating their draft and bottle selection with a great variety of beers. My girlfriend and I LOVE the food here. We had wings, a burger, and chicken tenders and all were amazing. The service was also excellent.

The setup is awesome. Really dug the way the whole place looked. Tons of cool beers both on tap and in bottles. The food was outstanding. Try the pot pie. I can’t believe how great it was. We both said we’d go back in a heartbeat. A+ to the folks at The Colonial.

I went one Friday evening during Julyfest and was hungry for fish. I ordered the fish and chips and thought the fish was excellent. The fries tasted just like the ones I get at the store. McCains flash fried. Disappointing. I had two Smirnoff ice malt drinks and the fish and chips and my meal was $ 22. $ 5.00 for a Smirnoff? Really? Again, another new place trying to find its place… I am on the fence if I want to return…

Great visit! Overwhelming selection of beers, a, axing and helpful staff. This place definitely has an upgraded atmosphere for Binghamton. Go visit and you won’t be disappointed. Only area of improvement, maybe more restroom stalls. Saw a line quite often.

Great Draft Beer selection, though the prices seemed pretty steep for some craft brews. The atmosphere is pleasant, but it gets very loud during busy dinner hours. The food tasted fine, but it was nothing spectacular. I got the truffle mac and cheese which I was excited for. Kind of a disappointment, though. The cheese sauce was thin and bland– not the creamy, rich sauce I expected. I also got the fried chicken sandwich. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t anything special. It was badly in need of an interesting sauce or slaw for flavor. Also, the bun it was served on was pretty flimsy. I’d prefer something substantial and crusty– like one of Chroma’s Ciabatta rolls. The fries it came with were very tasty. My friend got the grilled cheese flight and she enjoyed it. Her favorite was the french onion. I probably wouldn’t go back for dinner here, but I might stop by for a beer and bar snacks.

Cozy, warm, reclaimed wood, Edison bulbs, lots of beer. Great food. This place is great! Choose this over Galaxy Brewing(terrible). The Colonial is a great addition to Binghamton! Come for a burger, beer and a cozy warm environment. I had the bernaise burger and french fries My friend had the grilled cheese flight with tomato soup. The food is very flavorful, fresh and interesting. They have Veggie options! Flavorful bar food and its a Very large place. Great friendly service :) our waitress was always checking in and making sure we were happy. This is a wonderful addition to downtown Binghamton!

This is what we’ve been waiting for, Binghamton! A clean, well lighted place with delicious bar food and American cuisine. And possibly drunk brunch. We arrived at the Colonial late Sunday night. The kitchen is open seven days a week until 11PM which sets them apart from the majority of restaurants in downtown Bing. My friends ordered the Galaxy Andromeda IPA on tap. It was a little flat, a slight disappointment. We switched to Brooklyn Brewery Sriarchi. They have a large selection of brews on tap and affordable cocktails. Something for everyone. But what truly sets the Colonial apart from neighboring Galaxy and Water Street was the quality of the food. I ordered a chicken pot pie. At 10 dollars, the portion size seemed perfect. The biscuit was overly flakey. The contents of the pie, however, tasted fresh and not too salty. I tried my friends’ wings. They were crispy and doused with the right amount of sauce. We all agreed these were the best wings we’ve tried in Binghamton. The server was friendly and engaged in casual conversation. We ate during a lull so I cannot speak for the usual waiting time. I’ve heard from others that during peak hours service gets a little sloppy. They just opened so I’m sure they’re still working the kinks out in scheduling. Overall, great Sunday night and I recommend it to all.
